hi.. i have lumia 800.. is tango out yet??? i mean the official version n not the chinese version??? how do i update if so??
thanks in advance
When the "official" is available for Your phone will prompt You to connect to Zune....
If you want to flash before it is ready, You can search for it in Firmware+ and flash with Nokia Care Suite. Just search this forum for How To.
But for now it is still only available in the Chinese version :S

Well I am missing a couple hours of battery life
I have been looking forward to internet sharing/tethering/hotspot feature on Lumia 800 since last year. So yeah, they better release Tango for Lumia 800 soon.
so till have to wait huh.. ok.. i am certainly missing battery life and bluetooth tethering.. n wat about bluetooth file transfer?? will it be available in tango or only in win8??
Bluetooth file transfer is not available in the Tango update, I doubt it will be included in Windows phone 8 but you never know until it is released.

I think Nokia are going to put out a Bluetooth app for sending photos.
Dose anyone know if Tango will have any effect on the Lumia 800 after 12072?
Stand by power is pretty good, but using the net for 45mins to an hour can kill by the battery by 50%

Hi everyone!
Searching from news in Navifirm saw today that this version is rolling out to our Lumia, anyone knows about it? Flash it or not?
Does it worth?
Great search!
Unfortunately I cannot find it. The latest version I can find using navifirm 1.7+ is the 1600.2487.8107.12070.
Probably tommorow on the upcoming Microsoft event, Nokia will release new Tango (aka refresh) firmwares for the Lumia.
Nevertheless, as anyone download this and tried it?
Hi, i don't have this in my navifirm+ v1.7, if you can upload we can test this. Thanks.

Do you think MS will release WP8 to Lumia 800? I got this phone only last night, so i'm really ignorant regarding all this.

It isn't yet clear if Microsoft is going to make the the Apolo compatible with existing phones.
There have been a lot of rumors and sayings on this but nothing official.
I think today is the day they will clarify this topic, but I believe that, with Nokia backgrounds on providing frequent updates, at least the flagship phones (Lumia 800 and 900) will be able to be updated.
Let's cross fingers and wait they have the good sense to make wp8 compatible our phones.
UPDATED: The news aren't good with T-Mobile saying: «a statement posted by a T-Mobile Germany representative that the handset definitely won’t be receiving the update. The latest information comes after T-Mobile customers pinged the operator asking when the handset was due to be released on the network.»
NO WP8 to existing LUMIA or WP phones!
All the phones will be DEAD! specially NOKIA!
Well, i figure out after a clean cache that firmware on Navifirm went out, someone was not supposed to put it online, so thats why quickly disappeared.
About Windows aka Apollo 8 , nobody at least Microsoft or Nokia can afirm that, we can only especulate and personally i think that will cause Lumia 800 and 900 are the flagship of Windows Phone, if they wont update it will be like a totally shame. Imagine if Apple launched iOS 6 only to run in the new iPhone coming...

im using the china variant tango past a month now, without FB integration but with wifi sharing and a VERY VERY NICE BATTERY BACK UP, im happy!
Well, it's official.
Although Microsoft's newly unveiled Windows Phone 8 boasts exciting features like more customization options and integration with voice-over IP, one unpleasant suspicion we had about the new mobile OS has been confirmed: current Windows Phone devices won't be able to upgrade to WP8.
That Nokia Lumia 800/900 we've just bought! Consider it a obsolete for the next year :-(.

I personally don't think where gonna get Windows Phone 7.8 untill around Christmas I reckon Microsoft aren't gonna be in a rush to update current devices to look like the newest ones and will want some exclusivity on the new look

No and no. I don't know where you read that, I just hope you didn't buy the phone relying on that info, heh...at the moment there's no way to do that. Maybe you're talking about the N9?

Well I haven't heard anything about it so far. All we can have right now for our Lumias are custom roms with a few tweaks, however you'll be able to flash those only if you have the qualcomm bootloader, and this is mostly luck based, because it depends on the hardware revision of your specific device. Speaking of Android ports instead I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you...

Well it mostly depends on which particular apps you need...but in terms of games you'll probably be disappointed, don't expect to find stuff like Nova 3 I mean, but if you look for simple puzzle games like Cut the rope you should be ok. The top games will be available soon on WP8 devices tho.

Nope, it will get 7.8 and probably another update in the future (like 7.9 or something). Obviously this OS is much more locked down compared to Android, so you can't fiddle too much with it, like overclocking and stuff like that. However the OS is fully optimized for the hardware, so you don't really need to do anything in order to achieve smoothness and speed: the performance is optimal out of the box, unlike on some older Android devices. I had the GS2 as well before switching to WP, I haven't looked back since then. Trust me, you'll soon realize how great it is to simply USE your phone with no headaches.

yes,i have noticed how polished the os is.. i just read a article about the lumia 800 and a htc windows device. the phone had same specs, but the htc was clocked at 1,5 and the lumia 800 at 1.4 ghz,and the testers said that the htc was just that littlebi faster and smooter. im shour i will be satisfied wih wp 7, even though i have ordered one of the weakes devices in the lumia 800.. but as far as ive seen it, even with an singlecore prossesor the devise is very fast.. gonna go for the 920 later if im satisfied with the 800 what about roms? is it some roms that will acutally benifitt me to install? i dont care to mutch about just minor added settings to the phone. but if its a rom that actually makes the phone faster or something, please let me know. i know everything about android phones like rooting, installing roms, and so on. but i really feel like a bad ass noob at the windows phone platform

Well there are a few cool things you can do with a custom ROM. For example you can sideload third party apps (without using the marketplace), remap your search key, use different search engines, wake the phone with any button, customize the ui and more. However keep in mind that no speed improvements or RAM tweaks whatever are available at the moment. Have look here if you wanna know more, this one of the ROM threads. I'd give it a try for sure but since I did a manual update a while ago I have the Nokia bootloader so I'm stuck here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665651

welcome to the club.im in the exact same position
From what i have learned so far
there is roms to download, but not a rom that completly changes the phone. The windows platform is way more locked up than the android os, so overclocking and all this stuff is not possible. I anderstand that the windows platform is so well polished that its not nessesary to do something with it. ive just got my 800 too, and also feel like an completly noob coming from android.Good luck!

good to hear! think ill be satisfied as well. i dont care about the best camera,or biggest screen,or the most apps.. i use the phone mostly for browsing and sometimes games. Ive seen test where the lumia 800 have been as fast as the iphone 4s, and sometimes slower, and sometimes faster. thats enough for me I also like thath even tho the phone doesent always load the pages on the browser fastest all the time,it shows contents first and is readable first i cant wait to get the 920 later. bet the browser there is very fast
Wait a few weeks, maybe just a few days, and you'll get an update to WP 7.8.

Nokia is rolling out GDR2 update from 15th Aug and in 3days will be covering all countries.
I am tracking news for the big Lumia Amber update which includes Microsoft's GDR2 update too.
Some of the key features of the update for Lumia 920
New camera app, based on Lumia 925. Better white balance for low light
Now you can use third party apps with default camera button, just like Android
Bluetooth v4
FM radio
New Music player
Better notification (backend, great improvement in whatsapp notification etc)
Better battery ( for some 8hrs battery to 16hrs )
Nokia Glance
I am still trying to gather the list. Also can somebody share when will the update be released?
Do share your findings.
Leaked ROM for 920 and 820
Hit thanks if you find it useful.
I don't know what time is the WP8 GDR2 update of at&t Nokia Lumia 920, hope it comes quickly.

I hope they release GDR2 soon without any bugs like HTC.
Please update your findings from new Amber update.
All the sites are claiming August release now for the update due to a twitter post made by Nokia Spain. I can't wait for the update myself. The whole reason I switched from HTC to Nokia was all the rave about Nokia giving you a reason to stay through quality updates. So the ride has been great so far but it would be nice to have radio back and some of the smart cam features would be lots of fun.
Of course....Nokia Spain's announcement of it may not necessarily mean it's the same for the rest of the world and last month all the sites were saying the update was coming in July.
Hopefully it does come out this month.
The FM Radio is nice to have, yeah. Not sure about SmartCam. I think it's a bit overrated and that you may end up using the stock camera as well (no control over flash, video recording on my Lumia 920 with GDR2).
That said, the update is nice.
I have tryed the euro dev rom with amber and french rom with amber.
I'm from argentina and my phone don't connect 4G, so i went back to my old firmware
Good 4G for me
Using the method that was found on XDA on my ATT and its working great so far, I just got the update for the peak today and now I have wifi tethering so needed that one.
It is said that Amber with GDR2 will release from today, 30 countries and regions included in the first batch, and 3 days later second batch.

I have Amber installed (by official OTA) for 2 hours, I like all the stuff nokia added to our phone DDDDDDDD
Cant find my way around two features...
The new camera effect that lets me take 10 pictures, how do I use it? And I've been through the full settings list, and cant find anything about the new lock screen (double tap, standby screen, hover hand over to turn it on).
Can anyone confirm if bluetooth 4.0 is present in this update?
Glance. Enable it. Make sure you select "timed" option. Lock device. You'll see the standby clock. Wave hand directly over device. Should be in display + touch in settings. A little reading wouldn't hurt either

still no update. why does it always last so long?? is anyone still without GDR2??
