Hello;
Question: what do I do go make my bricked, unrooted phone work?
I am turning here out of desperation. I was given an HTC hero by a workmate. I had great plans to root it, and try all the cool roms.
When I got it, before I put my SIM or SD card into it, I turned on WIFI and saw that there was an update available. The installation of that update failed, and now my phone doesn't boot.
The download completed, the installation started, but part way through I got an image of a triangle with an exclamation point in it. Now when I power on my phone it hangs on the "HERO" screen.
I have tried a factory reset. All the instructions for trying to fix this sort of thing seem to involve having a working phone. I'll try anything. Please?
Have You tried running RRU?

First off, I've gone through thread after thread hoping to find an answer, but simply have not.
I rooted my phone back in July and don't remember which method I used. I need to get my phone back to stock for warranty (I have a dead strip on my screen) and before I thought, I used SU to get back to S-On, but now I can't get back to stock.
I've tried to run various RUU's, more specifically regaw's version among others, but I haven't had any success. Every time I run an RUU it says that my phone is not connected to my computer. I've also downloaded the PJ75IMG and tried that method as well, but nothing happens.

Do you have HTC Sync installed? I know that has been a issue for myself, if so uninstall that, and you will need to run the RUU for the Firmware you have. Also I have downloaded mine from this website. http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Jewel

Got the correct firmware, started the process no problem. Now I've got an Error [155]: Unknown and that's as far as it'll take me. I've tried multiple times, and nothing happens. When the phone is supposed to restart it just sits there as if nothing happened to it at all. The RUU instructed me to restart the phone and do the recovery through the program. Once through, it says that I should now try to start the RUU again. and the same thing happens. Am I missing something here?
When running the RUU, are you getting a 155 Error Code?
Yeah, the Error 155 keeps coming up.

Yep, that's the problem I was having. Once I relocked the bootloader the RUU ran smooth as butter. Took a little while so make sure you have enough battery/have it plugged in.

Glad i could help you. I had those same issues so it was just in my knowledge. Now i am S-OFF and love it so far.
Hey guys I had to send my HTC One back to ATT. So I stupidly tried to get it back to stock, so I first flashed an Odex-ed Stock Rooted Rom, then flashed stock recovery in fastboot, then locked the bootloader and am now trying to run the RUU. And it doesnt seem to be working..what do I do? I just keep booting into the bootloader straight. Im so lost.
So your bootloader is locked, you start the ruu and what happens?
I had a similar issue. For some resason all of my laptops had issues with drivers. If you go in device manager in windows, check to see if you see exclamation mark on my HTC.
I tried different drivers, sync app from HTC and even fresh virtual box environments on MacBook to no avail. It always shows that yellow exclamation when in bootloader.
Anyways, didn't mean to hijack your thread but just trying to see what's in your device manager. Try hansoon HTC one app?

it either says "Phone not found" or the RUU wont even open .. will say issues with drivers
Damn, I hope you get it figured out. I wish I could help. I know I better keep my htc one stock for the time being. This could of happened to me.

Flash a Rom like android revolutionary
Sent from my HTC Butterfly using xda premium
Hi everyone,
I recently tried to flash a new ROM and had to upgrade my HBOOT. After i did so, I continued to flash the rom but probably made a noob move along the way because it got stuck at the HTC boot logo. I turned my phone off and then booted into recovery again but then got the error that 4ext was booting into safe mode because it could not mount the sd card. I did a bit of research and came across a thread that said to reflash 4ext and so I did. Now when I'm trying to boot into recovery, I get stuck at HTC boot logo again. At this point all I can boot into is HBOOT. Is there anything I can do or is my phone pretty much bricked?
My HBOOT version is currently 1.93.002.
Thanks.

Well i cant get into 4ext at all now.
But i do have a few questions if you dont mind:
Would i lock it simply by doing fastboot oem lock in command prompt?
So the ruu would be the first one under tmobile on this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644?
And could you link me to or give me a quick tutorial on how to flash the ruu without being able to get into 4ext?
Sorry im kind of a noob at this.

Hello. I have been searching for solution to my problem since last night. Some came close but couldn't solve my problem completely. I am using an International/Unbranded/Asian/Carrier Free Amaze 4G running GB 2.3.4. As every other International Amaze user, I wanted to update to ICS but I couldn't since there was no official update to ICS for unbranded Amaze. So, I researched on how to do it and I started the journey to update my Amaze. But I faced a problem during my journey
Here's a little background of my problem:
I used Hasoon's toolkit to unlock my bootloader, flash TWRP recovery and inject SuperUser and root my phone
After that, I researched on how I can update it to ICS. I read that to achieve what I wanted, I have to S-OFF my phone and then SuperCID it and flash ICS RUU. From here, I searched on how to achieve S-OFF on my phone. I read that Hasoon had another toolkit for this purpose. I reached his thread and opened the download link but I couldn't find the file. I read he taken it down for some reason. I then googled Hasoon's toolkit and I got a download link!
Now, I am set to S-OFF my Amaze. Excited! I didn't had an external SD card so I went and got it from my dad's S3. Then, I ran juopunutbear v.6 for the first time. Everything was going good, untill " Loading sixpacks into SD card". I got an error "Barman won't serve!" .. I looked at my phone and it was stuck at the "arrow screen". I couldn't restart it unless I pulled the battery. I couldn't boot it into recovery. But I could boot it into bootloader. Anyways, I read on Juopunutbear's website that if I am stuck on "Arrow Screen" "This is normal during the procedure, until you have gained S-OFF. Run program again.". So, I ran Juopunutbear v.6 again but again the Barman won't serve me!
Curse you, Barman! I read that if I am stuck during the process I should try it on a different PC using a different cable and SD card. I changed my SD card. Found one in my drawer. Ran Juopunutbear v.6 again and voila! This time the barman served me! Now, I have been trying the wire trick for gazillion times on my Amaze but I always get the error "Still Sober". But this error is not the real problem
Short summary of my problem: I am stuck at the "Arrow Screen" attached below. My phone won't restart unless I pull out the battery. And when I start it again, it's stuck on the "Arrow Screen" .. I can't boot into recovery but I can boot into bootloader. I tried relocking my bootloader and flashing a new kernel using Hasoon's tool but as soon as my phone boots into the bootloader, my PC won't recognize it! I am stuck on a CMD screen saying < waiting for device >
I have searched a lot for my problem. I have gone till page 10 of "Amaze Q/A, Help and Troubleshooting" on XDA, I have googled it as much as I could. Some solution came close to my problem but couldn't solve my problem completely! Please help me, guys! I am using Windows 8 on both of my PCs.
Thank you

OK, are you sure you charged your phone? The RUU needs at least 30% battery. Also, select fastboot before you run the RUU.
After you click next, it should say that the RUU has recognized your device and it will run on its own.

yes of course my friend the phone had 90% the charge but you say the update shuold be in mode bootloader?
RUU appears to work, but stuck on bootscreen logo
I also installed the OTA update, which did eventually get to 4.2.2, but after a few days went into bootloop. I applied the RUU with no luck. It appears to work, but then reboots to the htc screen and hangs.
I've also unlocked, installed custom recoveries. TWRP or CWM no touch for the HTC One X+ At&t. both report errors of unable to mount /anything. TWRP refuses to sideload or install a ROM after adb push (which I can get to work sometimes). CWM will install from sideload, but ROM install (Elegancia 6.2) stops at 13.07% and hangs.
I have tried all of the steps from multiple posts in these forums and what works for others seems never to work for my phone. What could the problem be? Permanently unable to see the partitions? Something corrupt in hboot 1.73? Since I can't access the phone to change the USB debugging setting (not sure if it was checked or not) and I can't change the fastboot mode in settings (last set to fastboot enabled), perhaps trying a factory reset caused the problem (one thread mentioned factory reset won't work if the settings say fastboot within the phone).
No clue, so any insight would be helpful. At this point, after weeks of trying to fix this phone, I'm nearly ready to give up. I'm stubborn, but now I suspect there's an unsolvable problem that I just don't have the expertise to see.

Thanks, attempting to do this, but I'm unable to unzip the stock roms in the 1.19 or 1.15 RUU to get that boot.img. I can unzip the 2.15 RUU rom just fine. Not sure what the problem is. I tried just running the earlier RUUs in the past, but they failed because it was the "wrong version" for my phone. Now I wonder if those failures were due to an invalid rom zip. Got these RUUs from AndroidRUU.
**edit: I cannot extract the roms (7z) for the earlier RUUs, only for 2.15. So I do not have access to the boot.img of the previous 4.1.1. Running the RUUs results in an "image error".
