[Q] Service Mode w/o Stock Dial Pad - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Is there any way to access the service mode menu without the stock dialing pad?
For us using CM or AOSP flavored dialing pads, we no longer have the option of accessing the service menu through the dial pad.
I tried a 3rd party dialer (ex-dialer) but still could not access the service menu.
It would help those who need to access the service menu (i.e. adj preferred freq for TMo users) like myself.
I thought I saw a service menu access through an app??? Maybe ROM toolbox or something similar (or maybe it was just a GUI to invoke dialing pad keys)?
I've tried a search but did not come up with any answers.

[Q] hidden codes

so on the Galaxy S I9000 there are a slew of codes that can be used to access the engineering menu for the phone, change the csc file etc. -- change the enabling structure of the phone in effect.
So my question is: how do you (a) access and (b) change those codes for the galaxy Tab 10.1 when it is a version (4g Rogers in Canada) that does not have a phone dialer?
do you install a modem to activate a dialer? or does the sim card control that availability on the Tab 10.1?
anyone played with this yet? is there another way to access the codes not using a phone dialer?
There is an app that Samsung uses called Factory Mode. It brings up a calculator looking interface which allows you to enter numbers and # signs etc. Don't get too excited though. Most of the I9000 codes don't work just giving a Wrong Format error. I don't know if you need this special app or if any calculator app will work.
How do I know? I just got my tab back from Samsung after sending it in for service and it came back with the factory mode app on it.
I wonder what's the purpose of that "Factory Mode" for end users, aside from saving time as lock screen/mechanisms are completely nonexistent.

[Q] Service Center for sms

I am trying to program my Service Center to get my sms to work properly. I am using a Straight talk sim card inside of a att phone. I go into my sms app and click setting and Service Center and enter in my service center number and click save and when I back out of it it doesn't save. If I enter it in and then click home and go back it sets it but my sms is still not working? I tried to look at /system/etc/apns.config.xml but that is just the network. I replaced the apns-config and still didn't work. Where can I edit the default in the actual rom itself?
Since no one has an answer...
In a stock rom what files are needed for the apn to work? Changing stock carrier to a different but similar carrier so that my Internet and sms will work? Or what files can I pull form cm7 to my devices for the apns?

Hidden menu - Field Test

In the dialer screen, dial ##3282# to get access to a special menu.
This is not device specific. That is the field test utility that can be used on every windows phone 7 device.
I never said it was device specific.
Didn't know this. Thanks

[Q] Accessing Service Mode

I hope this is the correct forum, if not I apologize. I have a Samsung Showcase from a small area provider. I have been playing around with it and had one question. It seems any directions I find to get into Service Mode (so you can program the phone) do not work. I followed the following:
To access the hidden menus from the dialer:
• Open the dialer and enter *#83786633 then press the Home key
• Open the dialer again (clear previously entry if it is still present) enter *#22745927
• Enter the SPC 000000 then enable Hidden Menu
After this you in theory can dial **772 to access the programming menu, however **772 does nothing when dialed. The phone is pretty much stock right now save for it is rooted. Anyone have any ideas how else you can access programming menus or what I might be doing wrong? I tried to disable the hidden menu -> reboot -> enable hidden menu -> reboot and that didn't seem to have any affect either. Thanks much for any help you can provide.
Well I guess I should have searched for Samsung Showcase for this, I believe I found the options I am looking for. If anyone else runs into this the following worked for me.
MIN Programming
Bring up the Dialer
Dial ##626#
Data Programming
Bring up the Dialer
Dial ##3282#
I did this on a pretty much stock phone (save for being rooted). I can't say whether this would work in a custom ROM or not. The information was pulled from the following post on cdmahosting.com so thanks to DYNET:

Service menu on SGP611?

Is there a way to open the hidden service menu on a SGP611 without telephone function?
On the tablets with phone function you can enter this menu by typing *#*#7378423#*#* as phone number but how to get to this menu on the non LTE version?
