I want to use the wireless tether in my SGS3, but unfortunately, mi laptop only supports 802.11b/g, while the SGS3 also supports 802.11n. I can't connect from my laptop to the SGS3. The laptop "sees" the wifi hotspot and displays the settings of the hotspot as "802.11n", but it can't connect. I suppose the culprit is the wifi standard used.
Anyone has tried the built-in wireless tether in the SGS3?
Anyone has tried another wireless tether app?
I have tried Wireless Tether for root users and it doesn't work.
By the way, my phone is rooted.
Thanks.

Currently I use wireless tethering installed from the Market to tether my phone. If a cable is on hand, is wired tether a preferred method? I'm running CyanogenEris v1.1 and noticed under Settings->Wireless & Network Settings there is a checkbox for Internet Tethering. How do I set this up?
Thanks in advance.

Wired I think is better because it helps keep you phone charged and tethering eats up your battery. Wireless is best for other mobile devices. Like I use it with an iPad, Zune, and other stuff.
Can somebody running CyanogenEris tell me how they wire tether? Before I rooted, I used pdanet. After flashing CyanogenEris I cannot seem to get it to work. Can somebody confirm, or tell me this was merely operator error.
Need to share my 3g bandwidth from my samsung tab 10.1 , I found no inbuilt options (or did I miss something, pls say I did) .. Tried wireless tether, runs and shows as Ad Hoc hotspot, but no device can connect to it.
And Oh I'm rooted
You don't have a built in mobile hotspot app?
under wireless settings, there should be an option that says tethering and wireless hotspot.
Hi, I've searched the forums for similar questions and didn't find anything.
I have a laptop that can connect only in 802.11b & 802.11g. When I run wireless tethering in my phone (enabling ap in wireless connections because I have the stock firmware), my laptop can't find the access point. It looks like the phone is using 802.11n by default when doing the wireless tether, preventing my laptop from connecting. If instead of using the built-in wireless adapter of my laptop, I use a wifi usb stick with 802.11n, I can connect without problems. I would like not having to use the stick, though.
How can I disable 802.11n when doing wireless tether in my phone?.
Maybe I have to download an app from the market in order to instruct my phone in doing the wireless tether in g mode?
Thanks in advance.
No one has an answer?

I can currently tether my Verizon GS3 to my laptop using WiFi Tether for root users. I want to bridge a connection to my ethernet port so I can connect my original Xbox to play online via Xlink. Everything goes fine until I bridge the connections because I suddenly lose internet connection to my GS3. This has worked for me in the past when I used my OG Droid on a 3G connection. Anyone have any explanation on what could be causing it to not work?
My settings in WiFi tether are:
Device Profile: Generic ICS
Setup Method:Netd(master)
This is what I gathered was how to get wireless tethering to work for me, and it has.
Well I've tried apps. Currently rooted and running a slimmed down ROM and using WiFi Tether Router because it just works flawless. However is there a way for the tether device to be seen on the same network its sharing? I like to connect my phone to my PC via WiFi for lots of reasons.
Possible?
