I got the ICS update earlier today and was shocked/disappointed not to see a thethering option.
Is there an app that i can use or something im missing? Please help

I got some questiont upon tethering!
I want to tether my UNROOTED tattoo, i got a 3G network and i was wondering what the best way is to do it. I want to turn my mobile into a wifi hotspot.
I already googled some things about it but i'm a bit confused, can someone explain what apps to get and settings and stuff.

As far as I know you have to have a rooted tattoo. Without root it wont work.
Btw: hotspot mode is impossible, but you can create an adhoc connection.

I'm new, not much of a techie but I need some help. I just rooted my Tmobile Vibrant, it's still running 2.1 Update 1. I want to wifi tether so I downloaded Barnacle Legacy. Everything opens fine, but when I try to search wifi hotspots on other devices, nothing shows. I am using a Droid and a Mytouch 2nd gen and neither will find the Vibrants Barnacle spot. I was then told to get Wireless Tether for Root Users app. I got Appbrain, Android market and tried the internet and all tell me that "the item can not be found". Where can I get a copy of this app? Or even better, can someone tell me how to make the Barnacle app work? It says it's operating, beaconing ad hoc but nothing never connects. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated

Im trying to help a friend, He has the Verizon Samsung Fascinate, the phone is rooted, has super user. I Dl'd and installed the Android wifi tether 2.07apk from the google dev site. started up the app. started tether without issue, looked on my Toshiba Thrive Tablet, found the android tether wifi, tried to connect and message pops up on my tablet stating something about adhoc is not supported.
I have a Droid Incredible running Nil's sense 3.5 rom and have the same android tether app, I can start up tethering, turn tethering on, connect and surf the web on my tablet, with no mention of the adhoc compatibility thing.
Im not up on Samsung devices, I have always had HTC phones. So im not sure if this a Samsung issue or what.
I compared his tether app settings to mine and both are the same.
Im at a loss here and could really use some advice about how to fix the issue.

Unfortunately I saw that I can't connet (even I can't see) Ad-hoc connections, that's really important to me, Im using my phone everyday at work with a Lapdock 100 and that's my only way to connect to the intenet because my wifi controller don't support AP-Mode (NO Connectify etc...). I'm really tired to search for a solution related and maybe the fix is around the "wpa-supplicant" but I didn't saw any particular solution for the RAZR.....
So, CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!

if somebody can confirm this im not sure if there is a way for you to go back to ICS once your on jb unless somebody can confirm i do remember a fellow user who is from brazil and fluent in spanish. maybe message him check him on eterneity project

I recently upgraded my SXP from rooted ICS 6.1.1.B.1.75 to Pre-rooted JB 6.2.A.0.400 ( found thanks to this thread ).
Everything went well, and the new version seemed to work, until i realized that the Wifi Hotspot function isn't working anymore (i used it everyday on ICS).
Also, tethering via Bluetooth doesn't seem to work.
My SXP wifi network is seen and I can connect onto it, but then nothing happens and there's no way to use the phone's data connection from a remote device.
I installed the 'WiFi Tether' app from Google play to give it a try, and the same thing happens.
However, this app gives me more detail and i can see what steps precisely block the connection, here is a screen of the error log : http://i.imgur.com/5ZhAAoF.png
Hopefully this'll help.

I've recently rooted my xperia play and found my wi-fi hotspot doesn't work. I've downloaded wi-fi tether apps but it doesn't seem to be connecting to the internet, it reads my connection but no access to internet.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
