[Q] Data Call Failures when I try to update the PRL - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

When ever I try and update the PRL, I get the confirmation screen of "Your PRL has been updated. Tap OK. Then I get a error 97: Unable to Estible a Data Connection. Is this normal? I don't think the PRL ever updates since I got back into settings and it tells me there a PRL update. It seems I've lost all data connection now even after reboot

Have you tried to update profile?

PPP Connection Error

I'm sure the answer to my question is somewhere in this forum...but no matter how I search...it does not reveal anything I can use.
I recently upgraded to DCD 3.2.6 with the .50 radio and SPL 2.47 and used the Verizon carrier cab
My data connection fails every time I try to connect. I get the message PPP Connection Error.
After reading a few post within the forum...it was sometimes suggested to re-run the carrier cab which I did about four times...it tell me that it successful but still fails to connect.
I then called Verizon and they where unable to resolve my connection issue...so they are sending me out a new phone...oh I'm using the XV6800 Verizon.
So...what should I do now?
See if somebody can help me to get my data connection working and tell Verizon not to send out a new phone...or reset my XV6800 back to stock ROM and go for the new one...which of course will probably have the new stock ROM on it...which will not allow me to install a custom ROM.
Any suggestions?

what do you have for your Data Network Connect? #777 and then you need name, password, and domain. I don't remember what those are off the top of my head but need to right or you will not connect. You do have a data package from Verizon, sorry I am in support and have to ask all the simple questions as well as the hard ones. Also have you tried to reload the radio ROM and the DCD ROM again, with the Verizon CAB of course? Most of the issues are cleaned up with reloading the ROM not the carrier cab. Also make sure that your data connection icon in the Comm Manager is lite up or on.
Verizon Data Tech Support ran me through some setting which one of them was to make sure I had my phone#@vzw3g.com and the pass of vzw set correctly...which I did
That still did not work...when that did not fix the problem...he went no further...and said we need to send you out a new phone.
I'm in the process of downloading the ROM radio again and going to try the procedure again...

Your probably not authenticated on the VZW network. Its miserable when that happens. DO you have a spare phone around? If so activate that phone against your phone number. Wait five minutes and activate the 6800 again. I do it all the time. It will resolve this issue. There is something called a "group password" you are missing. Only VZW can put that in by re provisioning the phone.
There tech support never catches this. IF you have to, call them and just tell them you need your AKey reset. You will get transfered to a security department. They will walk you through a bunch of crap then finally reset your AKEY. You should be able to authenticate as you as you dial the number that lets you program the phone. Cant remember what it is off the top of my head. ##xxx

You can revert to a stock pre-gps ROM. There are instructions to do it somewhere. From then you skip the VZW update and just follow the normal path. I have done it with my phone a 100 times. Thats how I know about the authentication issue you are having.
I do have another phone around here...I might try that
I have just finished re-installing the radio ROM and the 3.2.6 ROM...installed the Verizon carrier cab
ran the *228 option 1
waiting for the phone to reset.
I'm just wondering if I'm following the correct procedure upgrade the phone...
I used the Wiki...but it appears to be as organized as my home office...
so I'm not sure where the best tutorial is to follow upgrading the phone.
Edit...that's was a no go...same issue
Not sure what you mean in your last post...care to elaborate a little on that?
I also read somewhere that if I activate another phone...and then re-activate the 6800...its possible that I will loose my data plan associated with the 6800...
I guess I would have to call them or log into the account and re-add it...
Just an update...
I Spent about 45 minutes on the phone last night with Verizon Tech Support.
I called them back after ready your post above. I asked them if they would reset my Akey, but they wanted me to go thru a few other troubleshooting steps first.
finally at the end of the conversation...the girl on the phone said that the Verizon system is getting an A-Key from the phone and since its getting one...it can not be reset...
So...I'm getting a new phone anyway...
I guess its not all that bad...I have been seeing issues with it locking up on me when I was on the stock ROM...
Thanks for the suggestions...time to go find the thread that will put it back into stock status...for shipping back to Verizon.

make sure your settings for your data connection do NOT have anything under domain. also, under Connections --> Advanced--> Select Networks, make sure that Verizon Wireless is selected for the first option. i havent heard anything about this for a while, but if this is happening when you try to send or receive an MMS, it can't hurt to make sure your X-VzW-MDN key is set to your 10 digit phone number (HKLM\Software\Archsoft\Archsoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\wspheader)

The first part of your message was checked by me and Verizon...just to make sure...
When I had everything installed and running after the upgrade...MMS was not even available...only thing I had was SMS and email.
I had to install that GC mms/sms cab file to get MMS back on the phone...and that did not even help.
As for the last part of your post
I know that's a registry key...but how do you get to it to check.
Also...just for sh**s and giggle knowing I'm going to be sending this phone back to VZW when the new one shows up...
After converting it back to stock radio, ROM and SPL
I used the official VZW MR1 ROM update and flashed the phone with that...same issue, unable to make data connections...
Thanks for all the support and suggestions...

I had the same problem and when I switched to my old Razr and then back to the XV6800 then ran the carrier cab it worked. It may have took 2 tries (switching back and forth between phones). I did have to reselect a data plan when activating the 6800. I also may have run the carrier cab a few times. It took a lot of messing around but I finally got it to work. I guess if your getting a new phone none of this really matters though.

[Q] lost my 3g and can no longer recieve calls

I just flashed simply honey 5.1 and now i cant recieve calls or even get a data signal. help? i seem to be having the same problem with anything simply honey 3.8+
Back to stock (Odin), and than try reflashing. Looks like bad flash. Unless you had bad luck like me and core files got messed up...
I have Odin'd back and reflashed twice now
My stock works fine, but whenever I flash I lose my data capabilities and I can't receive calls. Is that what it's like when your core files get messed up? If so, how to fix?
No, you have different problem than me than.... my does not connect at all in any rom.
sorry but your problem is beyond my knowledge, I would say that maybe bad download, but it seams you downloaded more that one rom so... sorry
Go to settings, network, mobile, check data, check roaming, then go to network operator, choose provider automatically.
After it finishes, go back and go to access point names and make sure you have the correct apn.
If not, please state the rom, kernel, and modem by going to settings, about.
After I checked Data and roaming and set it to choose automatically it said "registered on network" but when I went to APN it says no items.
I am using:
Firmware
2.3.4
Baseband
T959UVKB5
Kernel
2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVP-CL264642
Bullet-JVP-1.2Ghz-v5.4-voodoo#12
Build number
GINGERBREAD.XXJVR
Go to the Market, search for APN Global, install it and let it install your settings for your carrier. Let me know if you still need help.
Also, what is your carrier and which country? You have an I9000 kernel that's why I'm asking.
Hey, I noticed you folks were mentioning something like what I was having trouble with. My phone shows that I have a 3G or H connection; however, any app that uses data fails to connect. Any ideas on solving this? It seems as though Tomulek may have experience with my issue.

PRL Issue.

After updating my prl, i only get 1x. Afterwards I tried manually changing prl to roam on verizon through qpst. But afterwards i get frequently disconnected from 3g. No matter what i change to it gets disconnected from 3g unless i update through phone automatically. But, of course, when i do that i only get 1x.

I'm having the same issue after updating to 21090. I'm on the phone with Sprint support right now.
MeanRom v4.5
HBoot 1.4, s-off
Did you update your profile after updating the prl?
Yup. I went through the usual song and dance with Sprint support and they couldn't fix it.
Have you guys tried prl 12125? Currently I'm on 12121 and have no issues
I think I fixed it. I switched my EVDO mode from "CDMA only" to "Automatic". This is how I did it:
1) Dial ##3282#
2) Select Edit Mode
3) Enter MSL (I think you need to contact Sprint to get it)
4) Select EVDO
5) Select Preferred Mode
6) Select Automatic
7) Press the menu key
8) Select Commit Modifications and your phone will automatically reboot
10) Update profile
Still not as fast as 21089 was but I've got "3G" back over my data icon instead of "1x".

You can also download MSL Reader from the Store (root required).

[Q] SIM Status - Network Unknown

Hello,
When I go to SIM Status in the settings, it says "Unknown" under "Network". I can't make calls nor text. However, 4g LTE data is working.
I live in the US and took a trip to Europe. This happened upon returning. I did not do anything unusual with my phone while abroad. While abroad, my phone connected to local networks without problem and I was able to send/receive text messages and make calls. When I got back to the US, it just says "no service" under the status.
Info:
* I am using the latest nightly of CM (which I flashed AFTER encountering this problem). No change. Before that I was using a nightly from a month or so ago without any issues
* I have checked the APN configuration and it looks correct
* My IMEI is intact and correct
* My baseband version is I545VRUAMDK
* I called Verizon and they said something about my phone not being able to enter the "Active" state. They are unsure as to whether or not it is a software problem or a network problem
Any ideas of how to fix this?
Solved
Just for the record, I fixed this problem by following the directions here.
Just in case the URL eventually fails, I used ODIN to restore back to stock, which did not initially fix the problem. From stock, I used the factory reset option from recovery mode. This fixed the problem. I still do not know what caused it.
One more problem not related to the above. Once I restored to stock and did a factory reset, I attempted to use the built-in updater to get to the latest version (currently Lollipop). The update failed with a 402 error. I was able to update using the Verizon Upgrade Assistant from my desktop computer. After upgrading this way, I ran into yet another problem with an error message that kept coming up, saying "com.android.phone has stopped working". I booted back into recovery and once again did a factory reset of the phone which fixed the problem. Everything is working as intended now.

Cannot make phonecalls on my XT1526, but I have data from Sprint.

I have the Moto E 2nd Gen (XT1526) phone and for a while now, I have been using it as a media player. Today I decided to finally start using it as a phone. So I signed up to Sprint and got a 35 dollar basic plan with 1 GB of Data. I manly wanted to use this as a phone and let WiFi handle the data portion. I was running Cyanogenmod 13 at the time and I was able to get the data working, but whenever I attempted to make any phone calls I got a message saying "The number or code you have dialed is incorrect. Please check the number or code and try again.".
The guy at the Sprint store told me to revert back to stock and to update my PRL in order to get phone functionality working. So I revert from Cyanogenmod 13 back to the stock 5.1 , perform whatever updates that are necessary, and noticed that I cannot find the Update PRL option anywhere. Other sites tell me it's under (Settings > About Phone > Update PRL) but I do not have such an option under About Phone section, nor anywhere else in the settings mention. I don't know what to do. Please help!
Nevermind. I figured it out. I flashed the stock rom (XT1526_Updated_SURNIA_BOOST_5.0.2_LXI22.50-14.6_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip) and both data and phone calls magically started working. I found the Update PRL option and was able to use it. Now it's time to upgrade this thing back to Cyanogenmod 13!
