[Q] edited prop.build now phone won't boot - help? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I have TeamWinRecoveryProject installed, running Perfection RC2. I was unable to mount my SDcard when I ran CWM also. When I click on mount in TWRP nothing happens. I did back up my prop.build to my sd card just in case I messed something up, but until I figure out how to mount my sdcards so I can move the file from the external back to /system I'm toast \
I'm wondering if I can extract the prop.build from the Prefection release and flash it to my phone using Odin, but I don't know if it's possible or even how to go about doing it.
*edit* n/m I figured out how to access the system directory in ADB and did a mv for the backup and my phone's working again.

You may already know this or have discovered it but for future reference when you edit the build.prop file and save it you will need to change the properties to rw--r--r

[Q] Vegan Ginger sdcard2 format command formatted sdcard and will not boot!

So I just finished putting the final tweak on a re-install of Vegan Ginger. My previous install had some issues with long boot times and the Gallery was not synchronizing with my Picasa Web Photos. The last step in the process was wiping the external SDcard which was complaining from Ginger since I formatted originally to FAT32 on my PC and was unsure of the "preferred" format for Android/Gingerbread. So I went into settings, and under sdcard2 selected "Erase". I then attempted to mount and got some errors regarding the sdcard was empty or not formatted, so I selected "Format". I attempted to re-mount again and got the same error. So I figured that I would give the CWM format a try and rebooted into CWM. I then selected "format sd-ext" and CWM complained that apps2sd did not exist. I then rebooted the tablet through the CWM main menu.
Somehow in this process my internal sdcard was formatted!
The next boot, Vegan Ginger displayed the G Tab Devs and Vegan Launch screen but would boot loop about 5 times until the screen went black.
I was able to boot into ClockWorkMod (CWM) and attempts to mount /data or /sdcard result in:
mount /sdcard
Code:
Can't mount /sdcard
Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk3p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk2p1)
(No such file or directory)
mount /data
Code:
Can't mount DATA:!
Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk3p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk2p1)
(No such file or directory)
I attempted to do a restore through CWM which resulted in a failure.
Any suggestions on how to get back to a running system? My guess is the following:
format data
format sdcard
The following information would be very helpful:
Is there any chance recovering the current system?
Is it possible to do a "system snapshot" of my tablet to avoid this issue in the future?
What is the preferred Android external SD card format?
Thanks!
Run nvflash from the dev section. There is nothing there to save anymore
I had this same issue with a 32gb micro sdcard formatted in fat32. After finally getting things back in order with nvflash/wipe/reload, Im hesitant to try again. Any idea on the cause or how to prevent it from happening?

In CWM, do a backup (this is the nandroid backup mentioned often here on xda)
When you boot into android, copy the backup file OFF the device, and onto a desktop PC, or a USB flash drive - anywhere but onto any storage that is on the gtab.
Repeat both those steps any time you're about to make major changes, or do any formatting, or otherwise play with sharp objects near your gtab.
When you screw the pooch, you can always copy your latest backup back to the backup directory on the gtab, and then restore from CWM. You may need to nvflash first to get the thing into some sane state, of course. But you'll have the image which will save lots of setup time after...

Trying to mount the drive in Clockwordmod

I recently got a touchpad for my mom and I'm trying to mount in clockwordmod to update to the latest nightly build and on windows it says to format and won't recognize the drive... what is going on here??
ok what exactly do you mean? youre trying to mount what exactly? do you mean youre trying to mount the touchpad as usb storage while your in clockworkmod recovery? also an easy way to update is with an app called GooManager from google play. dont install the open recovery script though. just use goomanager to download the zips that you want to flash then reboot into CWMrecovery and flash them from the goomanager folder on your sdcard. simple as that.
I've read in many threads that you shouldn't mount the drive in CWM, there is a chance the file transfer will corrupt. Instead download the file in the OS, or mount and copy in the OS, then reboot to CWM and load the file or whatever you are trying to do.

yes theres a chance tthat files can become corrupted using cwm usb mount, however I havent had that problem yet. Also ./adb push ./adb pull or tftp work nicely for moving files to:from the device.

Stuck with CWM, Using adb to push.

Previously I have used adb to push files onto my internal sdcard, to then flash the phone.
In these instances I've pushed to /data/media, loaded up CWM, choose zip from internal. File is there, flash.
All very easy.
This time around, Ive run Super Wipe, pushed the new rom to /data/media.
But when i go to 'choose zip from internal sdcard', I get 'Couldn't open directory', 'No files found'
I even tested before I wiped, and pushing to /data/media worked, and they were found in CWM afterwards at root.
Any ideas? I dont have an external sdcard right now annoyingly, so adb pushing is my only idea Ive had.
It seems to not pick up its own root directory; always saying 'couldn't open directory', with or without data being mounted.
Cheers in advance! Soft brick for now, ouch
EDIT: Internal SDcard isn't being mounted when using the phone. Im running stock firmware, and I cant even install apps because they cant create folders. Messaging doesn't work, becuase it cant save the messages. Its like the internal sdcard has disconnected from the phone...
When hooked up to the PC, the phone storage is blank, and when I try to put files into it, it stays on 0%
My internal storage is non-responsive.

[Q] Android wont boot, mnt folder missing

I wanted to enable full gpu rendering on my Samsung P6200... I am running 4.1.2, rooted. I downloaded the zip file, booted into recovery and installed the zip file, I rebooted, it shows the normal model number and that on the screen, and about the time when the boot animation starts it just goes blank, although it is still on, now, I rebooted back to recovery, I had made a backup moments before, I only had 770 MB of space left so it made a full backup except my /data partition, that failed, but I didn't want that backed up anyway. I thought well maybe I should restore, so I went to advanced restore and chose the boot partition to restore, restore was succesful, I restarted and did the same thing, now I try to restore the whole backup and it says md5 mismatch, I connect to adb and mount everything, and find my mnt folder is missing, now I don't know how to fix this, if I go to install zip from sdcard it shows all my files and folders there, but if I go to /sdcard/storage/sdcard0 in adb it only shows two folders, Download and Webzine. How to fix this, I don't want to restore my /data partition due to the fact that it only did like 5% of the backup of it and need a lot of that data, if I were to fix the md5 mismatch (don't know how) what partition would I restore to fix the boot error? And how do I fix the missing mnt folder issue?
Ok, sorry, found my files are stored in /sdcard/, although I could swear they were in sdcard0

[Q] invisible/hidden sd cards after "platform.xml" file mod

Hi all, I've got brand new Samsung Galaxy S5 mini (SM-G800F), which I rooted already. Also used an app to fix permissions to ext SD card (I've got Android Kitkat). Everything was fine but I didn't have full access to ext SD card. Found online that I need to make one more change in "platform.xml" file. Using ADB I pulled file and after modification changed permissions, had read-only message, to push file back on place (used command below to get permission).
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
chmod 755 /system/app
What happened after these operations:
1) I lost access to all cards (internal and external) through mobile phone. SD cards are "invisible", pictures in gallery disappeared and when I use camera to take a new one it shows file is saved and then pic disappears. Used ADB to find out what's on card and directory /sdcard/dcim/camera has all pics I had before but newly taken are not saved.
2) I've got pop up messages saying "Unfortunately, (name of app) has stopped." Once I press OK, after few seconds new message pops up for another app. Many apps don't work but not all of them.
3) Kies can't connect with my phone. Can't find the device.
4) When phone is connected to PC I can access it but there is no files (empty folder). Files can be accessed with ADB only.
What I've done trying to solve the problem:
1) Restored original copy of "platform.xml". Didn't help so I...
2) Downloaded copy of my sys (G800FXXU1ANL1) from samsung-update website.
3) Unrooted, but all above didn't help so I...
4) Rooted again, installed TWRP recovery and installed sys again. It didn't help so...
I'm here to ask for your help How to restore sys or what should I do to get it back to normal?
