As i saw a few threads about this topic, but still no helpful answer, if there were any at all, i wanted to ask:
Is it posstible to implement a bluetooth profile, especially the Hands Free Profile v1.5, as an Android App?!
I have a HTC Sensation and before the update to Android 4 my hands-free kit (Nokia CK-15W) show me my device name, provider, cell stats and battery stats.
Afer updating to Android 4, which brought the HFP v1.6, the hands-free kit only shows me the device name. All other informations are gone, since placing calls through the kit is still possible.
So, after reading specifications of the hands-free kit i figured out, it only uses 2 profiles: HFP v1.5 and PAC (Phonebook Acces Profile) v1.0
So i'm pretty shure the bug is somewhere in the communication with the HFP v1.5 and v1.6

I can confirm that Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking (DUN) works after the 2.1 update using PDANet through my Sony VAIO on the Rogers Network.. yes! now I can fully take advantage of my 6GB data plan without wires!
Also, the PhoneBook Access Profile (PBAP) as well as pulling your recent calls list (not sure what profile that uses) works fine with Android 2.1 using my SE HBH-DS980 headset.
However, on an incoming call, the phone doesn't push the CallerID tag to the bluetooth device. The same goes for the MusicID tag when playing music. From my intuition, I don't think these 2 features require a specific bluetooth profile but will rather need to be implemented in the music or dialer applications to function. I'm not sure why SE is leaving this out on the 2.1 update as it is a huge selling feature for their MW600 headset. All SE phones powered by Symbian or part of the Walkman branding all had these features right out of the box, and the X1 running Windows Mobile had it as a 3rd party support (ie. smartwatchm). It would be nice if a developer can add these features for Android since SE won't.
It also doesn't have the Service Discovery Application Profile (SDAP) to be able to provide the list of available bluetooth services to the master device. This was tested using my SE X1a. So to actually find out what services are supported, you'll have to find out the hard way.
Can anyone tell me what other bluetooth profiles are available now?

Ringtone over bluetooth
Hi there. i think this is a problem shared by many users:
i habe a Bluetooth Handfree, in this case, FIAT Blue&ME. When i connect for example a Nokia phone and the phone rings, the ring is transfered to the audio systems of the hands free. With my X10mini i hear only the default RING RING from the hands free :-(
Is there anyway to enable handfree transfer of the ringtone in Adroid?
there are persons that describe the same problem but not for android: for example at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634494
By the way also SMS messages cannot be transfered to my Hands free Blue&Me. Anyone have idea how to fix this?
I think a new application to solve ringtone transfer to handsfree would help ALOT of users.

OpenWatch is an app that is downloadable from the Market that allows bluetooth devices (like SE MBW-200 Bluetooth watch with lcd screen) to receive call/SMS/alerts/music player controls/etc. It supports a couple of other devices as well.

The "Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVCRP)" is still at v1.0. We need a minimum of v1.3 to display track information on MW600.. :-(
Does Android 4.1 allow a device to serve as a Hands-Free Profile (HFP) device? Similar to the way many newer cars come with integrated Bluetooth/HFP, I would like to use my tablet (Nexus 7) as a front-end for my phone. When an incoming call comes in, the phone should relay the call over Bluetooth to the tablet; it should also allow the tablet to make outgoing calls via Bluetooth over the phone's network.
Please note that I am not interested in solutions such as GrooveIP, Talkatone, and SIPDroid. I am specifically looking for Bluetooth HFP.
I've done quite a bit of searching but have not seen an app that does this. For those of us that plans to install a Android tablet in the car for music etc. this would be tha last part to make it a complete in-car device.
I am another curious one about this. The only devices I know of for sure that can do this are the 3.6 and 4.2 samsung galaxy players. Unfortunately, I have the 4.0 galaxy player, that doesn't support it. The galaxy players run gb, not jb, btw.

From what I can gather:
* Bluetooth defines HFP to have two roles: the Audio Gateway (AG) role and the Hands-Free (HF) role.
* Android doesn't natively support the HF role.
I too am interested in exactly what you are describing -- would like to use a tablet as the infotainment hub of a vehicle. I would happy to be a part of or organize a bounty to support development of such a capability in CM10.

Dears, why WP8 bluetooth currently does not support SIM Access Profile (SAP, SIM, rSAP) for handsfree cars?!..
This is the issue that Microsoft needs to explain -> why in WP8, SAP does not get supported.
This is basic functionality that worked natively in previous Microsoft phone/mobile versions and made many of users like me to continue with MS OS and not moving to Android OS or iOS. Why am I so acid? Because I use my car handsfree a lot and now I need to pick up my Lumia 920 and operate directly the phone. The result is that my car handsfree in now reduced to a headset. My wife has the same issue with a Nokia Lumia 820.
With Android (v4.1.1) and a 6" screen chinese dual sim phone ($US 180!! sent to my home), I have better results!! I keep asking myself why I continue to insist with Microsoft....
Guess what? Just installed the latest WP8 upgrade and nothing, the bluetooth issues remain.
Any idea on the date for the new update release?
I have no trouble with bluetooth and my car, my 920 integrates perfectly with it, I see all my contacts and call log, I can press a button and tell it to call a number or contact. After the update yesterday. It even read out a sms I received while I was driving, then I was asked if I wanted to reply to it and successfully replied.
I don't know what more that you would want?
Perhaps your car's bluetooth needs to be upgraded to work with the latest phones?

I invite you to visit the WindowsPhone.com forum and have a quick look at the bluetooth section. You will find hundreds of complains from users like you and me where the WP8 OS is unable to sync contacts, phone lists (received calls), ...etc.
I have an Audi A6 (2007) and Audi already announced that won't upgrade their system because it works fine with all other OS's.
The car costed €70k+ and the phone €600, so it's easy what will be dropped off....
rSAP is not supported in most newer Smartphones (I believe the exception currently is Samsung) because it is using a GSM receiver installed directly in the car which means the Radio in the phone turns off. This disables all data connections on the Phone.
I guess unless the rSAP profile is extended to support data connections this situation won't change anytime soon.

Hands free calling over BT works for me in GM, Toyota, Hyundi, and Nissan cars.
The HFP is the one needed for Hands Free use in a Car. This is the profile every phone supports.
rSAP is fairly uncommon, one would say rare, so not supporting it is hardly a deal killer for WP8. For example, the iPhone also doesn't support rSAP, and other than a few Audi owners, no one else seems to care.
Well, after the update provided by Microsoft (8.0.10211.204), my issues with BT are gone. I have again a handsfree system instead of a headset. I can sync calls lists and phone books.
My Nokia Lumia 920 is now able to deal with my business life. Have fun!
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to implement a Hands-Free Profile 1.5 on my mobile phone LG Optimus G which is using android 4.1.2, since I own a bluetooth handsfree kit Nokia CK-15W and it only works on 1.5 profile, came not implemented in this version of android.
In my previous handset a motorola defy (android 2.3.7) I plugged in the kit without problems ...
Is there any apk that implements this profile?

Its proving hard to find a definitive answer anywhere on this, but can anyone confirm if the Z2 is definitely compatible with the Jawbone Up24 for example?
The Up24 requires Bluetooth Smart / LE (low Energy) which, as I understand it, is one of the Bluetooth 4.0 profiles.
Their website does say it is compatible with the Z1, but no mention of the Z2 or Z3. I would assume it is I suppose, but I find it strange nobody seems to actually say so, anywhere that I can find.
Any of the phone specs I've read say "v4.0, A2DP, apt-X" or "Object Push Profile (OPP)"
Also, in a Sony whitepaper, I see the following:
