[Q] May Someone Help Me Please? - HTC EVO 3D

I Need Some Help With My Phone And As Previously Having The Nexus S, Know This Is A Good Place To Come. I Am Wanting To Unlock Boot loader Via HTC's Method, Root, And Install ROM's. Every time I Try To Unlock (I'm On H BOOT 1.5 By The Way) I Get As Far As The Get Identifier Token Command And My Phone Can Never Send It/Computer Never Receives It So This Is Stopping Me From Continuing. I Am Really Interested In Trying Out Some Of The ROM's Here And Yes I Have Read Other Threads And Guides And None Really Helped With My Problem/Situation So I Was Hoping Maybe Someone Could Post Here And Help So I Get More And Better Alerts On This. So Please If Anyone Can Help Please Do. Everything Is Stock 2.17 ROM, H BOOT 1.5, S-ON, Locked, And So Forth I Bout It New From Sprint.

I had some problems following the unlock guide for my phone. Mine is boot 1.5 s-off and unlocked now, but I did a search on youtube for unlocking and rooting the evo3d gsm and found a good video on how to get it done. I was having some problems with one of the steps and one of the posts on there got me by it.
I rooted my phone a month ago, so the videos and links should still be good.

[Q] Q/A Official ATT Gingerbread OTA UL BL Root

Thx for your support help and patience to me, kind of new in this stuff, here is my question and I hope someone with absolutly real experience can answer.
Here is my reality, I have an Atrix with the new OTA update gingerbread, no UL BL, no root, no mod, clean...Can I still unlock the bootloader with the2dcourt guide in briefMobile? or I am stuck in the world of no mod forever? This is because I am tired of searching. someone guy s say you can, other say can´t (BriefMobile for example)...I really apreciate the help and a little guide just the names of treats or files I would search
I'm in the same boat, was waiting for the official update before making any mods, and I have to say, after a couple of hours on here this morning I'm a bit confused.
I got root fine (brief mobile's is solid for that) but now I'm trying to figure out the BL. Some posts say the OTA will hard brick if an SBF is flashed, others point to guides that use the SBF flash...
You can still unlock the BL with pudding and install CWM to flash custom rome. Use the preinstall method to root or use a pre-rooted custom rom.
DO NOT try to flash back to a stock froyo build or you will hard brick.

You will only hard brick with the OTA if you attempt to flash back to 4.1.83 or earlier stock builds. You can use the fruity cake builds (as they have pudding in them) to go back if you had to.
From here on out you have to use pudding to unlock the boot loader to enable custom rom flashing. Just follow the pudding thread for more info on that.
You can't flash an older SBF file, that will cause you to brick. The SBF files you should avoid are pretty much all of them except Gingerbread, Unlock, and Radio SBF's.
You can unlock your device even though you've updated. But you're stuck with that bootloader forever, but you can always downgrade with a fruit cake I believe.
It all seems confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it!

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I had run several custom roms on my G1, but much less of that experience is proving to be helpful than I had hoped.
Thanks everyone for your speedy replies, I'll go give pudding a shot after breakfast.
if i flash pudding, just the unlock part and then fastboot the unlock....will i have to load a rom, or will gingerbread 2.34 still be there?
Okay, so the official pudding thread recommends beginners follow Brief Mobile's BL unlocking guide. I did, and got the message "oem unlock is not implemented". However, the 1st step in the guide is "If you’re on Gingerbread, skip to step 13". I am on GB from the OTA, but the guide was published a month ago, before the OTA update.
I'm guessing they said that because at the time it was published, you would need to have already done those steps to be on GB, so I may need to go back and follow through all the steps I skipped the first time. But if they had GB users skip steps because they would be harmful to GB phones, then that would be bad... Advice?

Go through the whole thing. If you soft brick, just run fastboot oem unlock again.
Thx for the help and quick response everybody, I will try to put all the step together and get the ULBL, xda always there indeed

Step by step ULBL, Root for OTA GB
**I've been getting PMs for clarification: I didn't do a single mod to my phone before this morning. Stock ATT/Moto Atrix, installed stock ATT/Moto OTA GB update yesterday. Following these steps I am now BLUL and rooted.**
So here are all the steps needed to get a stock, OTA Gingerbread Atrix Unlocked and rooted:
1. Follow Brief Mobile's BL unlock guide here.
Things I found out that you may like to know:
-You will need to complete all steps *even the ones the guide says to skip*.
-When you enter your device unlock code, it is case sensitive; use caps-lock.
-The most recent SBF flash is in the XDA IHOP pudding thread, use this instead of the older file linked to in the Brief Mobile guide.
-When you are done, reboot will take a *long* time; just stay calm.
Edit: After 30 min on the dual core screen with the "unlocked" in the corner I pulled the battery... after reboot everything seems fine.
2. Follow Brief Mobile's guide to root here.
Thanks to brief mobile, and to the xda folks who held my hand through this whole thing the first time

Hey, I appreciate it, and I'm glad to help! But honestly, I stopped at each step and asked the experts what to do, and then just wrote down in one post everything they told me.
I'm glad it's saving time for those coming behind me, but the real thanks belongs to the guys who helped me through it this morning; thanks again guys!

[Q] Thunderbolt Official ROM

I havent really messed around with modding any HTC phones before and I'm doing this as a favor for my brother before he leaves for the navy, so forgive my ignorance
The phone is un-modded (stock) The phone is stuck in a boot loop. I've tried doing a factory reset via recovery with no results. I have visited the ROM list in the dev section, but I'm afraid I'm a little lost.
Is there a stock(most recent) ROM I can get and install, and is there a thread that will help me get that done.
Any help would be appreiciated
Sorry to tell you, but there isn't a ROM on here that's going to do you any good at all. The reason why is the bootloader on that phone is locked. You'll notice when you enter the bootloader up in the top right it says S-ON. That must say S-OFF to flash another ROM. You're only fix is going to be what's called an RUU. An RUU will replace the radio, bootloader, and ROM. It's important to know what version you're currently running, as trying to flash an RUU that's older will cause problems you REALLY don't want to have. That information should also be found on the bootloader screen. The following are links to RUUs for the Thunderbolt. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997724&highlight=RUU
http://www.themikmik.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=296
It's possible none on the xda link will work. That depends upon how current the firmware is. I can virtually guarantee you that that phone has firmware older than the RUUs at themikmik.com. Any more questions, like how to flash it, just hit me up or ask here.
And if I'm mistaken on any of this, please, somebody, set me straight.
I appriciate the advice. Im off for the next two days, and I do all this at work. I was unsure because my ATRIX and xperia were easy to change the rom on regardless of the bootloader. I will definatly hit you up if I need help

questions about rooting

1)can some one give me a link to the most easiest and current way to root? ((Ive looked every where and im not even sure what i am to look for)) Also i am fully updated.
2)after i root,,,can i keep the phone basically the way it is meaning stock and sense?really just want to root as to get rid of all the bloatware and possibly over clock it.
3)Is there away to back up the phone pre-root in case i dont like root and wish to return to stock?
Any help in these matters would be greatly appreciated.
So, here's my $0.02 worth:
1) The easiest is not the best. If you want to root your phone, you need to learn how to use ADB. It's not difficult. You will need it at some point in the future. Here's a link to root your Thunderbolt > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996616
Here's a noob's guide to ADB >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
2) Yes you can.
3) I'm not sure, but here is a link that will return your phone to stock > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009423
Plus one on learning adb its way easier than youd think. i always tried to use the one click methods and whatnot but i finally had to in adb and it was way easier. no worry about something wrong with the auto root. also try mybackup app from the market. i used it to backup everything initially then use titanium bacckup after you root since its way better
Advice on rooting flashing Thunderbolt?
Hi all,
I am so frustrated With my Moto atrix 4g and the fact that it has a locked boot loader with the new 2.3.4 stock rom....I have a real simple question;
If I obtain a Thunderbolt, does Verizon force HTC to keep anything locked or make the Thunderbolt difficult to root, unlock boot loader and ultimately flash non-stock roms from XDA ?
If it is like past HTC phones then it should be a rom flasher's dream, correct? It is able to be unlocked and i can flash roms from this wonderful forum?
Please advise....much appreciated.

Bro, really, take just 2 minutes to look around! There's a root guide right at the top of the dev forum!
To the OP: learning ADB and some basic Linux commands will become more useful than you know. Like quickly and easily checking an md5 without some stupid app or a computer. Plus, jcase is very easy to find and very helpful if there's a problem. I really can't endorse doing it the jcase way enough.
***LOCKED*** On Bootloader
Hello All,
First of all thanks for the awesome easy guide !!
This is the first time I am rooting my HTC Tbolt and have had an issue to start with.
Used the instructions in the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401959
After I download the 2.11.605.5 downgrade zip, I rename it, put in on the SD Card and go to HBOOT and it installs the downgrade just fine.
But at the end of this process, when I try to get the MR4 Radio onto the SD Card and install it, it simply does not happen. HBoot checks for the file, finds it, but nothing happens. I have renamed in properly and followed instructions to the dot.
I also noticed a ***LOCKED*** right on top of the screen and I think this could be an issue.
Can I go ahead and proceed with the Revolutionary Root Technique ? Would this be possible at this point ?
Is there anyway I can get Flash the MR4 Radio before I actually root ?
Also, would I be able to flash the MR4 Radio onto my device after Rooting ?
Any help is much appreciated !
Thanks in advance !
Cheers !

[Q] Rooting the HTC Rezound

Ok everyone. I like to think I am efficient enough to figure things out and such but I will honestly say I am having a major n00b moment with this one.
In the past, with my older Android phones (Droid 1 and Droid Razr) I was able to root and unroot the phones by following the instructions and ensure if I ever returned my device to Verizon, it gets unrooted and such.
however, now that I have the HTC Rezound from Verizon, I feel pretty stupid when it comes to the instructions I've found.
I gotten as far as unlocking the bootloader which appeared to be fairly simple, but there are just so many instructions out there on how to root the phone I cant make heads over heals on what to do.
Essentially I just want to be able to root and unroot the phone in the event I ever were to return it to Verizon for replacement. Can someone direct me to the proper way in doing this? I'd truly appreciate the help. Thank you all

Once you have unlocked the bootloader or gotten s-off, you just need to flash a recovery (Amon ra is linked in my sig) then flash a rom. All of the ROMS are pre-rooted. To revert to uprooted, all you need to do is run the GB RUU which can be found in the development section (or google)

Returning Phone to Factory Settings

Ok so I am aware of the thread that was created awhile back on using RUU to return to stock, but that didn't quite answer my questions so I am asking this question here and hopefully others in the future will benefit.
I am in need of getting my phone back to factory shipped conditions to get it replaced by Verizon. My headphone jack does not work at all and I just started getting sim card errors which I cannot deal with. So I need to fix this ASAP. The problem I forsee is that since I used Super CID to unlock the phone it has the red text error on bootup that says "this build is for development purposes.....blah blah" I imagine that Verizon will see this and tell me I voided my warranty and it is not their problem anymore. Here are my questions.
1. If I use RUU will it remove this message from the startup splash screen?
2. I am S-off, do I need to be s-on before I do this or will RUU put me S-on
3. People were saying it says "relocked" instead of "locked" on the bootloader screen. Is this going to be a problem as well?
4. Will I be able to get unlock, root, and s-off on the replacement phone?
I am going to continue searching the forums in case the answer is out there spread throughout many posts, but if anyone knows the answer or can help I would greatly appreciate it. Knowing the answer to this will be very helpful to many people I suspect.

Beautiful. This is why I love the android community. So willing to help others. Thank you very much.
And to answer your last question, yes, you will be able to S-Off and Unlock your replacement phone.
There are 2 new methods available as of last week for 2.06 (latest firmware).
