[Q] USB output to Car Stereo - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I used my evo 4g as my mp3 player for my car. Just plug it in to the usb and good to go. I tried it this morning w/ the lte, and it worked fine.
Got back in the car, and now no matter what, my head unit says "device error". the evo is set to disk drive, and i have rebooted multiple times. It did work this morning, so I cant imagine what the deal is.
So I tried taking out my sd card, and moving my songs around the phone using file explorer. It worked for a bit using connect as medai sync. Again, worked 1 time, then as soon as I pull the cord out and try again, nothing. Now my headunit either says device error or "no song". Sometimes the phone doesnt even give me the option to use as disk drive, just the htc sync. Any ideas on how to fix this? I miss my music. Maybe just wait for a rom?

Tried again. Same problem..... ANY suggestions? Am I the only one in the world w/ this problem?

[Q] help with USB on head unit in car.

so i got a pioneer 5200 head unit today. it has a usb slot in the front, you can connect things to it and its suposta read them .. such as a ipod/iphone or any other phone with a sd card I WAS TOLD.
but i cant see to get it to work with my vibrant :-/ i know i had to put it in to debug mode to get it to work with my mac.. so i was not sure if i was missing something that i should of done.
any help? thanks.
Mount after plugging in?

you would need to mount the drives on the phoen as samuel said... but there could be another issue... When you mount two drives will showup (internal and SD), can the head unit process two drives?
Not ALL radios have the ability to read every phone. I have a new JVC KW-NX7000 Navi and it would not read crap from my Cliq, but would from my G1. Haven't tried it yet with the Vibrant. Try taking it out of debugging and see if that works.
Another thing to consider is that the head units often have size limitations for the partitions they can read.
It also might be getting confused with the internal storage and the sd card since I doubt it can read more than one drive at a time.
Same problem with the stock radio on my 09 civic si. I believe it to be because of the way the phone provides access to the storage cards (USB hub)

good call, i didnt think of the two drive thing.
checking there site it says
"Not every USB device is compatible with a Pioneer headunit containing an USB port. See more details at the following webpage: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/USBCompatibility. Pioneer headunits containing a USB port are compatible with USB MSC (Mass Storage Class) devices only, and are not compatible with DRM (Digital Rights Management) contents and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) connection devices. For size and other limitations, please see Owner’s Manual. Unauthorized copying of music or other files is strictly prohibited. Optional USB extension cable is available for use with front USB ports."
how ever when going to the site they say its basically a blank page ha. ill try to take it out of debugging mode.. and if that does not work ill pop out the sd card.
i tried, taking out one of the sd cards, turning off debugging mode, changing it so i have to select if i want mass storage, or media mode.
and still i get nothing sad but oh well.. still got the aux port ha
I wish I had an aux port, fm transmitters suck ballz! I have to remove my antenna to not get static and even then, sometimes I do.

And the magic question is... CAN WE PUT OUR DEVICE IN USB MSC MODE? (Mass Storage Class)
I think it's one thing we really need. Almost every device is compatible with it, not with MTP!
You have to enable mass storage device and then mount it once you've plugged it into your receiver. Theres an app called Auto-mount that will do out for you automatically. It will only transfer music stored on your sd you will have to use the headphone jack for Pandora and Slacker.

I have the same problem with my Vibrant. I have an Alpine IXA-W404. When I plug in my phone via usb, it shows "searching" then "not supported" but on my head units screen it starts to show some random music files on my phone, but won't play them. I tried plugging in using two different wires, and tried with debugging on and off.
Any help? I even saw a video where the guy was doing it online with a similar setup, using a Droid and some other similar Alpine deck.
when i select "media player" from the usb settings on the phone, after about 20 seconds, the head unit starts to play a few songs but its very choppy. Any help is appreciated!

USB Audio to car stops playing after a few minutes

Hey Folks,
Wondering if anyone is having similar issues. For some reason, whenever I play music in my car (2011 X5 with IDrive) via USB cable & Default music player from my SGS 2, the audio stops playing on its own. Doesn't happen with same tracks or at the same time. It just stops and sometimes doesn't start playing again. I have to unplug the USB cable and wait a few minutes then plug it back in, put in my Unlock pwd and after a successful MTP connection it'll play again.
I don't think its related to media scanning. There's simply no message on my phone when the music stops playing. I know the USB connection is fine since I never had any issues playing music from iphone 3g via USB.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My phone is stock ATT Galaxy S2.
Thanks,
JV
Bump. This happens to me, but with just headphones. Happens in the music player, but never in Listen. Any more info on this?
Wow, I never even got my usb-connection to established. It rums around in circles trying to mount/connect. I just use the auxiliary port
Good Luck

[Q] Any way to get Note 2 to work with Car USB?

I've been researching this for a few days now and I am disappointed that I can not find any way to get my Note 2 to allow music playback over USB through the car's USB port. I am trying to hook it up to a Mitsubishi MMCS system.
I know that Samsung has removed UMS on their new phones and that's what most car stereos are used for. I downloaded SGS3 Easy UMS and it seems to work fine (except for the phone appearing as read-only cd drive when I plug it into my computer), and I can access every folder on the device in this mode - at least on the computer. When I plug it into the USB in the car, it starts charging, but the USB/ipod mode on the NAV says "No connection". And yes, it works fine if I hook it up to my old iphone.
My phone has been rooted and I even unlocked it and installed this custom rom on the device, but I still am at a no go. Unfortunately, using my phone as a media device for my car stereo on my long trips to work is one of the main functions I use my phone for. Right now I am stuck using bluetooth which has horrible quality and doesn't offer near the same amount of features on the stereo as USB does.
Does anyone have any ideas or am I simply hosed?

[Q] Getting GS4 to work with Honda USB

I got a new phone and a new car this week. I want them to play nice. I want to listen to Pandora in the car. Bluetooth Audio works fine; however, it doesn't allow you to see the song on the dashboard display and give it a thumbs up and whatnot through BTA. That has to be through the USB port.
So I plug it in and the USB notification flashes like a hundred times - Connected As An Installer. Over and over and over, not giving me a chance to even press it. Then it stops, and the Honda tells me UNSUPPORTED. (For the record, Nexus 7 was also unsupported).
My question is, is there any way to get to the USB settings to change it manually, like you could in olden times pre-JB? I searched through the menus and couldn't find any USB settings besides USB Debugging (which is enabled).
Phone is rooted, stock. Car is 2013 CR-V. I am fine with merely being able to listen to Pandora which is a huge step up from my old car, but I figure, if it can go all the way then why not take it all the way.
When you connect your phone via usb...in your notifications drop down menu select the usb device...it will pop up a window allowing you 2 options...pick the second one...see if that works.

That's the problem, there's no selection available. It flashes for several seconds before disappearing entirely and there is never an opportunity to select anything.
Meanwhile a four year old ipod connects and shows the Pandora information on the car's screen.

Anyone else having bluetooth issues?

I haven't used bluetooth much on this phone yet, so I don't know if this is device specific or a general problem. Anyway, my phone pairs with my car bluetooth dongle and works normally the first time, but when it's already paired it just won't connect, no matter what. It works again if I unpair it and pair it again, but that's not very convenient...
Has anyone else noticed this kind of behavior and is there a fix for it?
Try clearing the system cache and a network reset.
Well, I don't know what happened or changed but today it just worked... Weird.
Ah, turns out with this phone, I just need to wait until the dongle is properly initialized before trying to connect, otherwise it just gives up and won't even try again.
With my old Huawei, I could do it straight away and it would connect when it's done...

Try in safe mode. May have a 3rd party app conflict.
Could also be a coincidence and the crappy dongle is giving up.
It's a cheap eBay bought one that renders an mp3 file on the fly so the car stereo can play it like normal flash storage. My wife's Xiaomi also had some issues connecting to it yesterday, and today as I was driving music stopped several times and the stereo said "USB format incompatible", then skipped to the next track and continued. I'm planning on installing an Aux input into the car soon so I can plug a better bluetooth receiver into that, so hopefully that'll solve the problem.
