Does anyone have any opinions on the Seidio/rebranded BB Convert Combo case? I'm thinking about replacing my OB Defender with it.
Thanks!
Not Satisfied
Had one for my Evo 4g and after six months the little plastic spider broke after a 30" fall. Company wouldn't warranty anything I have 4 evo's (family plan) 7 seidio cases 2 replacements and from my experience JUNK! Will never own another. I have had decent luck with my otterbox commuter and defender.

You're not supposed to drop them from 30"... you're not supposed to drop your phone at all. If you do, which would be your own fault... that means be more careful... You didn't mention if your phone took damage. Cases are there to prevent / reduce damage. Not be indestructible.
I've had an Evo, Epic and Evo 3D... had a Seidio Active on all 3. They kept the phone mint. Surface on others. When I sold them, they were all sold in mint condition... Nothing ever broke on them... I didn't drop them... 1 year warranty on defects... not you breaking them... Kind of like a car... If you buy it... it has a warranty... if you decide to smash it into the wall... NO WARRANTY COVERAGE...
All Seidio products are great. They've been great for me. I haven't tried their batteries, but the Surface and Active cases have been 10/10! They have done everything I wanted and expected them to do. I never expected them to be bulletproof and they exceed my expectations in quality.
The convert... it's basically a surface + active case combined.
I didn't drop my phone and the Seidio Rugged fell apart. My wife's fell apart also with no drops. The cases I received were garbage. I'm using an Otterbox Defender on my 3D and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. I loved my Ballistic and may try the Kraken II when it is released.
Had it on my og evo and phone was in 10/10 cond when i sold it,so i went to bb and got one for the 3d LOVE IT and has the only clip that fits on a 1 3/4 duty belt.

As I stated earlier JUNK. You obviously have a right to your opinion, but if I pay $75 for an "Rugged" protection and the case was dropped ONE time and it breaks...it IS JUNK. Let me know when I can make it over to your perfect world maybe I can drop by your Unicorn ranch and possibly open a Rainbow store.

The case did its job. It broke so your phone didn't. And did you mean 30 inches (") as in 2 1/2 feet?
To each, his own I suppose. Get the case you like, not the case people want you to like.
..nice upgrade from hero
Otter box looked way better then the convert combo . I went that way more protection .
I am sorry
Ladies and gentlemen,
First I need to apologize to chrishol for my curt comments (aka being a smartass). My anger
should be directed at Seidio. When three of the seven cases became defective I called customer support and was denied because they were a week or two past the six month warranty (I know got to be a line somewhere). Fast forward three months and my "rugged case" breaks after just one drop from a relatively short distance. Now I have my 3vo and they have changed their warranty policy to one year (really, great). I have owned both Seidio and Otterbox dropped the Otter from 15 feet from the top of a large truck, no problems and countless drops from 30" or less (blackberry I guess I didnt like the phone) and no problems. I did call Otterbox about a replacement of the rubber portion and received it in three days.
Sorry for the length but I wanted to try and explain me being a jerk whuch was not necessary, again I am sorry chrishol.

I have the rebranded Pt Convert. I dropped my phone from waist high in a parking lot during Warped Tour. The case held it's own and protected my E3D as it was supposed to. IMO it is worth the $50 I paid for it.
So i went into BB the other day to check out if they had any cases for my Note. And of course i was talking to the guy and he asked where i got it. I said AT&T being it was $100 cheaper being i bought it at full retail price.
He says you should have gotten it from here, you should return it and re-buy from us. He says they work on non-commish & is just looking out for me? Hahah i chucked at first. So i BS with him and he tells me about this $9.99 accidental insurance plan that they replace the phone even if you took it home and smashed it with a hammer and brought it back in a dust pan. But you have to buy the phone from them. It also can be canceled at any time there is no contract on this like a warranty on a car. Interesting.
So if you figure like me i prefer my phone naked but need a case for accidental drops. You go and spend $40 on a case or even $80 being you will prob buy two maybe even 3. I am super anal with my electronics, but need protection when i go out. Like out drinking with the buds and i "accidentally" fumble the phone on the concrete. So that is either 4 months of worry free coverage or 8 months coverage. Seems to good to be true.
Anyone know anything about this? Or have it?
This may not sound super good for people who bought it at $300 but those of use who bought it for $650 it sounds much better. Ive already seen quite a few cracked screen threads on here.
He wasn't lying he doesnt get paid on commission. But as far as the protection plan its not a bad deal, considering that's there no deductible and you can service it as many times as you want. The only knock in my opinion it doesn't cover lost or stolen.

Yup, thats another thing. There is no deductible which is awesome. I think at&t has a $200 dollar one or something crazy like that. Hell, my Note already slide behind my bed. I fell asleep browsing with it. I have a IKEA bed with a open back headboard and it slipped right down off the wall I heard it i thought it was the Direct TV remote, my heart literally dropped in my stomach!

It is cheaper but if you lose your phone kiss it goodbye... it doesn't cover lost/stolen and honestly. .. They claim as long as your phone has a front facing camera, once reported stolen it snaps a pic of the person who has it in possession. I have it on my SII but haven't lost it (knock on wood).

Exactly. I bought two Galaxy Notes from ATT for retail a few days ago. My GF would rather wait until her upgrade in May and save the $300 so i am gonna return hers to ATT. But i am deff gonna get hers from BB mobile come May with that protection plan.
Like i said i am super anal with my devices so i am not worry about scratching it, more worried about that oh **** moment. I tend to leave my phone on my lap when i drive and forget its there when i get out lol . Id rather take the $40 i would spend on cases and throw that towards the protection for $9.99 a month. Just for piece of mind.
I'm sure i could cut out some dumb stuff to makeup for that $10 bucks a month lol.
Does anybody know how long you have to add that from purchase date? Sounds like a pretty good thing to take a look into.

I bought the 2 year plan also. I paid $170 up front to make it even cheaper.
$170 divided by 24 = about $7.08 a month.

I did this plus the $36 on buyback (only at that price when you buy warranty at time of phone purchase so they say). The piece of mind is the best thing about it plus the buy back gives me atleast the commitment price in 18 months that's pretty nice!

The BB no deductible is cool, but I like the accidental with lost/stolen add-on of AT&T for the same price. Granted that $200 Deductible hurts but I have had more phones lost/stolen than totally destroyed and the Note would be really attractive to thieves.

Got mine from Best Buy yesterday, and I think it's just hardwired into me to decline any sort of extended warranty, and the sales guy wasn't pushy at all so the conversation lasted about 5 seconds. I've never had a phone broken/lost, etc (knock on wood!) but I can see the benefit as long as they are true to their policy. Just can't justify adding $10 a month for it.
Though it's nice to see I have 30 days to change my mind.
my brother also purchased the streak from bb for 99 and paid the one time fee for their coverage and used it for 6 months. He ended up getting the iphone 4 for free and they refunded his full warranty payment minus the 6 months that he used so he ended up making money back from his warranty and got the iphone 4 which was 200 at the time for the price he paid for the streak.
I had their insurance when I purchased my atrix...screen broke 2 months later and it took a month and a half to get a new phone...service was terrible I had no phone for a month and a half.I don't recommend it but its your choice.

the store most likely messed up the processing of the claim... if you sent it in for rapid exchange, the process is 3-5 days. if you send it in to have your unit repaired, the max would be 32-34 days (2-4 days to get to the service center - depends on what day the store ships it or if it is a weekend). at that time they can request a junkout due to it being out to repair for too long...
They also (supposedly) give you a comparable loaner phone while you're waiting...

Yeah they have 2 loaner phones per store...sooo ummm yeah they didn't have any LOL...

I dont think they do loaners. Im keeping my insurance with bb until i get the otter box and the screen comes down in price. The insurance is about 240.00 for the 2 years and seems screens are closed to that as it is now. Lost, stolen, water damage and other are of not real worries to me. I have not have a problem that requires a cellphone replacement out of warranty ever! I had cellphones since the earlies 90s.
Does BB check if you flashed your ROM or not? If they do find out that you flashed your ROM, they can deny protection plan warranty right?
Also, can you cancel it anytime? In a span of 2 weeks, my note got replace once. On thursday, it will get replaced again. With this trend, I think BB protection plan is a good idea. They mentioned that if I will have my phone replaced, I could buy BB protection plan (even though I didn't buy it initially) I am planning of buying this protection plan and if I'm sure I got a good reliable galaxy note phone, I will cancel the protection right away. Probably after 2-3 months.
Is that a good plan?
You can cancel anytime when you are in the month to month. That they assured me because that is what I plan to do once I get the otter box and the display replacement drops a little more.
My car got broken into a couple nights ago and with that were GPS, radar detector, baton, a bunch of change, and my beats headphones. I know insurance will cover a stolen phone, but what about stolen headphones? I'm pretty pissed about it and I really enjoyed those headphones.

I don't think they'll cover them, call them and see what they say.
Dunno, I know that when my left ear went out they wanted me to ship them in order to receive the others.

That should be covered by HTC's one year warranty on the phone and parts though, not asurion.
Verizon's description of Total Equipment Coverage (Assurion insurance) mentions "covered accessories." You'll have to dig deeper to see what those might be. But, a claim has a $45 deductible. You can only make 2 claims a year. You can get a pair of new Beats off eBay for ~$50 if you watch (there's a BIN for $65 out there right now).
So, is it worth $5-20 to use up one of your insurance claims?
verizon never even sent me any earbuds. your probably better off buying a cheap pair on ebay.
I had break in and lost all my electronics except my phone and tablet (had them at work). Unfortunately I didn't have my iBeats with me. I asked a sales rep. at Verizon and she said probably not, but to give it a try. I didn't think of it again until I saw this post. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Depending on your car insurance, they might cover them even if HTC or Verizon doesn't...
I'd like some opinions. It looks to me like GoCare is good deal. But, I've never heard of them. Has anyone used them?
Seems like AppleCare+ is the gold standard. $99 one time. $49 for up to two accidents (screen breakage included). Just bring the phone to an Apple Store, and they replace it, no hassles. Just had to use this week on the daughters iPhone4.
Touch screen works, screen behind glass is fine, but running your finger over the screen feels like it could cut your finger. Anyone know what 'piece' needs to be replaced? Is it the digitizer?

I don't have insurance. I never get the insurance. They are one of the worst investments you can make. Sprints is especially ridiculous with the $150 deductible.
How often have you used yours? Now take the money you've paid and save it instead. See how much you are in the positive even if you had to repair your phone a few times yourself or at a shop?

She was thinking of getting an otterbox for this one until we can get it fixed, does an otterbox have any piece that goes over the screen?
Yes the Otterbox Defender as well as the Commuter comes with a screen guard built in. Did she have any kind of protection on the phone at all? A screen protector, a case of any kind?

Yes, she had a TPU case. Same cases we used with our EVOs and dropped many times without any issues...
And just curious how big was the drop, I've been using TPU cases on mine but will sell those and stick with the Otterbox full time instead of just when I'm around a bunch of kids if the drop was less then 4 foot.
I'd say it was right around 3.5 - 4 ft...
really 150$!!! i thought it was 100$$ cause when i lost my og evo they sent me the evo 3d and it was 100$
Pay with a credit card? Check with them, most card providers offer 90 accidental coverage.
Guess it's time to get rid of my TPU cases and stick with the Otterbox.
Will sprint replace the glass? When I had my evo (about a year old at the time), they replaced the glass in the store for only $30, might be worth asking.
