Hi all! I have a brand new LG Optimus One, but I think it has a problem. When I tap on the screen or write a message and tap on one letter, sometimes the screen respond 2-3 or more taps (want to write "word", but when i pres the "D" it goes "wordddd". Does anyone have the same problem or? Thanks a lot!
P.s. Sorry for my poor english
Same here..
I have the same problem too but i think it happens more often with gingerbread keyboard. The lg keyboard lags little more than default android keyboard. I think I'll stick with swype for now

same here , didnt have any problems everything works quick and fast
Can it be something with the stock protection foil?
Or may be i must go to the shop and return it
I removed the foil and still has the issue. I haven't tried other keyboards. Using the default LG Keyboard.

I am with the default keyboard too. Its very annoying, when the vibration is ON and when i just touch a letter...it's vibrating for 2-3 seconds.. Today i will try to go to the mobile shop and i will write after my visiting there.
Same here, I believe this is normal behavior, you have to remember that this phone has an entry level touch screen, so you can't except much from it. There are other problems with the keyboards as well related to touch. For example, in the Gingerbread keyboard you can do proper multi-chorded inputs (aka pressing shift + a character to capitalize the character) because of the touch screen quality. Same for pinch to zoom problems.
Download a touch screen test app to see what's really going on and why some things just don't work the way you expect. If you want better touch screen response you should've bought a more expensive phone. I'm happy with my Optimus One since I knew that this is a budget phone and that you can't have high expectations. That said, and knowing how much I paid for it new and unlocked (180€) I'm quite impressed with it's quality.

I am happy with my phone too! But when other people say, that they have no problems, what must i think about? I am from Bulgaria and here 180$ are not little money
So i went to the market and i played with the sample... It has the same "problem" )) So now I think, that all of this is because of my big fingers and "don't know how to touch" This is my first touchscreen phone and may be this is why i woried about. So thanks all for the answers, now i am a bit more calm! Great wishes for the NEW YEAR to all! Bye!
No problems with original android keyboard same as with SmartKeyboard Pro
Try to change to a different type of keyboard first and change back maybe after about 2-3 mins.
same problem
Hello folks!!
I have the same ptoblem with my touchscreen but only when i plug the usb cable to charge ...any solution?
it happens because of the touch screen lag bug. there is too much cpu usage when the touch screen is tapped.
that is why when you try to type fast using lg or android keyboard you will experience such problems.
this problem is not there with swype since you don't have to tap on the keys to type.
there is a touch screen bug fix and that will solve the problem.
I wish optimus one didn't have so many problems.
I currently have an HTC Desire Z and I really want the Thunderbolt, but all my android phones thus far have had a full slide out keyboard and I'm just not sure if I can do without one. Has anyone else switched from a phone with a keyboard to the Thunderbolt?
What is your experience?
I switched over from the original Droid. The change hasn't been bad at all, with swype or even the stock HTC keyboard, it's about the same. The only thing having to look at your phone to type.
I switched over from the original Droid. But then again I think I used the keyboard on the Droid about twice before realizing the on-screen board was monumentally better and never slid it open again.
I switched over from original Droid, I used to love the physical keyboard. But this screen is so accurate and big I've found the on screen keyboard to be more effecient and even in portrait mode its ridiculously accurate. I never plan on going back to a physical keyboard.

You wont regret
you wont regret the switch extremely accurate.
My last 5 phones had a slide out keyboard, so I was worried about the switch, but it really isn't bad. It takes some getting used to, and I have to look at the phone to type. I also can't type as fast. I think when I type too fast, it tries to change letters I pressed thinking it was a mistake. Other than that, it isn't bad.
I switched from a tp2 and I love it. The landscape keyboard is almost bigger then the tp2's slider!
Own both Samsung Epic 4G with slide out keyboard and HTC Thunderbolt. I needed the slide out keyboard for the rare times that I'm oncall and need to use the phone as a laptop replacement to VPN and RDP otherwise touch is fine for casual use the rest of the time. HTC Thunderbolt's touch is much more precise than the Samsung Epic 4G.
This is my first ever keypadless phone. I've had the Tilt2 on ATT since it came out, and its predecessor, and several other phones, always with physical keyboards.
Now I'm just thinking what an idiot I've been. Swype is simply AMAZING. After just 3 days using swype, I'm already faster typing than I ever was with physical keys on any phone.
Never going to look back, and I doubt you will either.
I came from the original Droid and was worried I would miss the physical keyboard...which I used often. Honestly...I haven't had any issues. Flipping the phone to landscape gives you a nice sized keyboard. Although I don't know if its me or my screen but I seem to have trouble type the letter Y.

I have a friend who moved to the EVO from her blackberry and has been loving the move so far. Plus she's using swype, which I think greatly helps the switch once you get the handle on how to use swype. Figured it was worth mentioning as it's effectively the same size phone/platform.
Yes, there is definitely a learning curve, but I have had mine since thursday and I seem to be getting the hang of a slate. I came from the D2 and had the TP2 before that. The speed of the phone definitely makes up for the lack of HW KB.

QFT. There is no reason to use anything but swype.
Also, I cannot for the life of me use a phone with a keyboard after having a touchscreen only phone. Had a friend get the evo shift and he used the keyboard once, and never touched it again.
Wow, wasn't expecting this much response. But thanks for all the input and it sounds like the opinions are all the same across the board. Probably will be making the switch soon, plus it will be nice to be back on Verizon. Thanks so much.

It doesn't come preinstalled from what I could tell from the in store model I played with. You can always install it yourself. Though apparently some people are having issues w/ spacing from what I read on another thread in this forum, probably worth looking into that to see if there is a fix yet.

you just have to try other keyboard phones in the market, at this time theres only the droid 2 thats comparable to my og droid on verizon. the epic 4g is nice but i cant go to sprint. the phone's screen is so large it makes it easy. the only problem is that with my og droid i could type under the the table no problem if i had to send a message out, but with this i have to look at the screen.
My first smart phone was the samsung sch-i760, loved the hw keyboard, that's why I moved on to the tp2 afterwards. To be honest, the tp2 shows absolutely no wear after using swype. As soon a you get used to swype you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.
Bummer the thunderbolt didn't come with swype but the evo version is working fine for me now, but I do like the beta layout more to be honest. In due time I spose

I switched over from an OG Droid running 2.3, and therefore a Gingerbread keyboard. I really loved my QWERTY, but now, I'm getting the hang of the on screen keyboard. I installed the 2.3 keyboard .apk and typing just kinda flows. It's different, but it's fluid. The switch is worth it in the end.
I came from OG Droid and it was smooth and great. always used touch screen on d1 anyways.
has anyone got a working version of swype yet? my beta copy still has spacing bug. or was beta updated? didnt want to install swype installer and go through all that if someone knows.
I was thinking about what ICS would look like on our phones.
I understand how the 3 buttons work for the galaxy nexus. There are no 4 buttons like on every other android phone to navigate. How will our phone get the update and what will it look like?
(when i say softkeys, i am referring to the 4 standard keys on android phones. I dont care if it is not the right term)
Will they just ignore the softkey buttons on our phones and put the three from ICS on the phone? This will really reduce usable screen size.
Will Samsung do away with the three buttons from ICS on phones that have the soft key buttons?
Will manufacturers have to make 2 versions of ICS? One for phones with softkeys and one for phones without?
Do you think that new phones coming out with ICS will have softkeys that are similar to the galaxy nexus on screen keys, or will they make all future phones like the nexus with no softkeys and just on screen keys?
I guess it all comes down to how Samsung wants to skin it. What do you think they will do with phones with the 4 standard keys?
I assume ICS will have an option built-in to disable software buttons.
It's more likely that ICS programs will just have to be more device aware than programs have been previously. All Gingerbread programs can be expected to work, and the softkey area will just display the standard keys. ICS enabled programs will need to support the standard keys (home, back, menu), or, in the case that a program is running on a native ICS phone (with the softkey screen area), the program will be able to dictate what shows up in that screen area, whether it be a modified keyset, or an extension of the program itself.
I am sure they have it figured since I read that the older nexus s will be the FIRST to get it as far as older phones go and I believe it has the three/ or four softkeys on it right? So if that is the case I am not too worried about it not working on our devices as I would BET it is planned in the grand scheme of things.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
people are getting way to hung up on these ICS soft keys. If the Nexus S is getting ICS, Im sure that any phone that has capacitive keys will have the on screen keys disabled. Why is this so hard for people to understand?
Why would Google go with on-screen keys? Whats the benefit? What happens to those that want to use 3.5 - 4.0 inches screen. How would that work. To me its a step backwards. Hopefully manufacturers will keep the soft keys we came to love about android, no ugly menu button on the screen like iOS completely ruining you screen real-estate.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
I am more then sure that Google has already thought of how to get around all these issues when ICS was placed in development.
Remember the Nexus One & Nexus S (S 4G) all have four buttons on the phone as well. Google wouldn't release a new OS version and cripple every phone out there with 4 buttons.

I picked up the Note II from BestBuy on Saturday... I got it to replace my Galaxy Nexus. In addition, I've got a Nexus 10. I like the phone, its blazing fast, and of course rated a top device.... But I'm just not completely sold on it after using it for the past couple of days.
It is big, for having hands that are OK on the GN... The GNII is huge. Layout and right handed apps help, but I've had trouble hitting "i" almost every time I "o", etc. I like the concept of the S pen, but don't know how much I'd actually use it, same for multi app running, etc.
I like aftermarket support and cases that the GNII has,a bug plus over the GN... But that's not enough to keep it.
I have not rooted or romed the Note. So maybe I'm missing out on things. Not a huge TouchWiz fan, compared to the stockness of the Nexus. Missing Google Wallet, etc.
Anyways... I'm considering returning the Note until something better comes along? Galaxy S4, next Nexus? Or...can someone give me a reason to keep this?

This device is not for everyone. I myself having very large hands can't stand smaller devices. I can almost one hand my Nexus 7. It's just a tad too large. The Note 2 on the other hand is the perfect size for me. I have had several people I work with though say that it is ridiculously large and they just couldn't handle it. Try the DNA if you are looking for a new phone or stick with the Galaxy Nexus which is still a fantastic device.
Try Bean's rom with Nova Launcher. Feels like a big GNex to me!
Every phone isnt for everyone. You seem like you'd be happier waiting to me.

I too came from the GNex. At first I loved the softkeys. I thought it was good that there wasnt waisted phone space so i got more screen. But as time went on I thought if they are basically there the whole time whats the difference between that and the physical, or capacitive touch buttons?
I never really modded or changed the layout of my softkeys so that didnt really matter to me. What I didnt like was when it would be full screen, like when watching youtube videos, there was definite burn in.
When coming to the Note 2 I really missed the recent apps softkey. And I hated that I couldn't swipe the home key up for Google Now. But, when I discovered long pressing the menu capacitive button brought up the recent apps, and long pressing the home button brought up Google Now, any remote longing for my GNex was quickly forgotten.
Then if you consider the battery life, it's not even close. The Note 2 easily handles a full day of normal to heavy use. The GNex was lucky to make it to lunch. The battery was my primary driving factor in getting the Note 2.
Lastly I will ad that when I had the GNex I was a little jealous of my girlfriends S3. The screen is only slightly bigger but because of the GNex softkeys it seemed much bigger. Now when I pick up the S3 it seems so small.
Im hooked and will easily keep this phone a while, trust me that is no easy feat for me. iPhone > Droid X > Thunderbolt > Bionic > Razr > Gnex > Note 2

I was in the same boat. I had a GalaxyS3 prior to owning the Note 2. Definitely not a one-handed phone. At first I was regretting selling my GS3. After 2 weeks of use, I am really warming up to the change. I love the s-pen(I always carried a stylus with me before). The camera & features are great. Web browsing & reading emails is awesome on the big screen. I DO miss one handed operation. But that is the trade-off. Maybe when the S4 comes out...

I'm interested in what it looks like with the home button covered. Do you have a link to the skin?
I haven't go mine yet, will get in on the 17th, but on my thunderbolt i used Thumb Keyboard, i lets you do a split keyboard that pushes it towards the outsides so you can reach it, or another way it does a big screen mode that pushes the entire keyboard to one side. I haven't tried it yet but i plan to use the split keyboard on portrait and landscape mode on the phone.

You hit a lot of the points that I do like about the Note... Battery life is great, 4G LTE in my little small hometown is blazing fast (I didn't even realize, as I had turned off LTE on the Nexus since it drained my battery when we didn't have it here). I had similar thoughts about the recently accessed apps missing, swipe up for Google Now... and I found those by holding the Home button to the point where that menu was then accessible.
I switched back to the Nexus last night just by swapping my SIM card and I really do enjoy this phone. Like I said - I want to like the Note 2, I'd like to keep it because I think it IS a great device... Just not sure that it's the best for me, at least right now. With some of the news on the S4 and future phones coming out sometime this year, maybe I just hold onto my upgrade until a little later and see what comes out.
I'm going to toy around with it for another few days before I'd return it... I'm a little unsure if I want to go through the unlocking and rooting process before I would return it, but we'll see.
Thanks for the advice.
If you're going through all of this.. It's probably not for you. Nothing wrong with waiting for one that works for you.

I feel the same way, and we went through a lot of the same phones, only reason I didn't get a GNex was lack of sd card. I almost waited to see what the Motorola/Google phone turned out like, glad I didn't. The Motorola/Google phone will need to be at least 5" for me to consider it now, but I think the only thing that'll be able to dethrone the Note 2 for me is a Note 3 or 4.

Have they changed the predictions like they said they were going to? I love the layouts and customizable options, but hated the predictions. I now use swift key and love the predictions, but the layouts aren't as good.
Since I've got 15~ days to return the device and still keep my upgrade, I figured I'd give it a little bit more of a run for its money. After reading some of the responses here, I decided to unlock, root, and ROM the GNII just to see if that would help it any more. I loaded up the Beans ROM, giving a little more GN feel to it. Loaded up Google Wallet and went through the activation process noted in one of the posts from here... Tested it this evening at the local grocery store and it worked, after a failed attempt at McDonalds (which I think was on the cashier, not the phone).
I also swapped for the 4.2 keyboard instead of the stock Samsung one. I think potentially my biggest complaint, and what I saw all over the forums here, was the lack of an autocorrect feature like the 4.2 KB offers. I still notice that I'm hitting the "B" key instead of the spacebar, a lot... But I'm going to keep going here and see how it goes.
Thanks for the suggestions guys!
One thing, if your missing the quick Google Now shortcut, download Nova Launcher, go into settings, go to the Gesture Layouts, from there you can make certain gestures on the screen or off an app(as in swipe up on youtube, make it launch Google Now). I have it set to where if I swipe up on my screen, launches Google Now. If I double tap on my screen, it launches Falcon Pro, and swipe down lowers the Notification bar.

I need an extra push, I'm hoping to find it here.
I'm coming from a Galaxy S2. There are two things I will have to live without, can anyone tell me if I should be worried?
1. The lack of a menu and search button.
2. Not having the ability to take out the battery.
On another note, I was wondering if someone could confirm if it's possible to remove the HTC Sense? The first thing I plan on doing is rooting it and removing basically any software HTC and AT&T add. One other question.. does anyone know if the IR can be setup to use custom commands, or if that's something we have to wait for developers?
I don't have much to add on here except the search button is so two years ago. No need to have that button there with the advent of long pressing and double tapping.

Most people that cry about batteries are usually closet Samsung fanboys. The ability to "take out the battery" is a bit overrated. Sorry but I don't have any need to add a brick to the back of my phone just so I can show off some "amazing battery stats"

Actually it's nice to have a search button where if I'm in the app drawer I can tap that and search for an app. Or if I'm on the home screen it opens google now. Or on a browser, it's a quick search button. You get the idea. What's the alternative now? How do you open Google Now or search for apps quickly?

I hate the way the S4 looks, and the S3. The huge rounded corners are a big turn off. I would end up getting that if I can't put up with the limitations the one has to offer.

Actually, I don't care about that.. I can optimize android to get what I need out of it. But I do like the ability to replace it if it dies or degrades in performance in a year from now, or say.. my phone is frozen, taking out the battery is often the fastest way to turn the damn thing off. Most of my stuff is in the cloud now, so I don't see me needing to replace my SD card. But it has occationally come in handy when I want to just pop it into my laptop to transfer some large files. I'm going to miss that.
I'm usually a Samsung guy but the one is amazing. We complain about the battery being no good over time and needing the ability to swap out. However, we get the next best thing after a year or so of use then sell the current device. The one is good. I haven't even rooted yet. I can wait until we get a stock RUU.

Actually, I don't care about that.. I can optimize android to get what I need out of it. If I have any issues with the battery I am calling Squaretrade and getting a replacement. That's the great thing about having insurance even though I am not even sure If I will be using this device for the full 2 years. Also, if you hold the power button down for 10 seconds its just like pulling the battery, but much faster.
I came from having a Galaxy SIII on Verizon, switched to ATT with a Galaxy SII Skyrocket and am now a happy camper with my One. The biggest hurdle was getting over not having the same capacitive buttons and how much faster the One is.
By no means am I a heavy user but I am sitting here with 60% battery going on just over 8 hours.
Lol I love being to put a beastly 7000 mah battery in my phone to get 3 days of battery. But if I can't, it isn't that big of a deal. Btw I'm not a Samsung fan boy, I'm a fan of whatever is the best.

On a custom rom you can map the other buttons to do a menu and maybe even a search (I'm not sure)
Holding power+vol up and down simulates pulling the battery
Right now there is not a way to remove sense, you can use 3rd party launchers for now. They are working on pure android ROMs and development will be GREAT on this device. I have owned a S2 and played with the One and the One is SWEET. (I'm still waiting for my black to arrive). I have a HTC One XL and think it is MUCH better than my S2. Just get it, You will love it. Or wait for development to grow a little to give you all those features
