MIUI Music
I have seen a few issues with music players on some of the ICS roms and thought I would offer this as an alternative and it's FREE
This is a heads up for people that are looking for an excellent/well tested music player. If anybody has used it and has interest here is one that now works on ALL android devices.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/19628-miui-music-ics-themed/
I have used this on: G Note, G tablet, HTC ARIA, HTC Inspire, SGS Captivate and on the I777 (on both GB and ICS roms)

True, however this is how the miui music player has looked and worked for over a year. It has been tweaked time and again, to make it what it is today.
Hello,
Please help me to find the music player I'm looking for. My requirements:
- A clean playlist (no artists, no genres, no album arts, no ratings, no lyrics, JUST FILENAME)
- An equalizer
- To be controlled by the handsfree button (play/pause and next track by double-click. More clicks - highly appreciated)
The closest to this idea of mine, which I was able to find, is tiny player. I liked it a LOT, but it doesn't have any equalizer...
And I have tried so many other players and they are TERRIBLE, especially starting with winamp, which I like so much for
PC!!! The Android's version is absolutely not acceptable for me!

Hello and thanks for your answers. But all of them are connected to Cyanogenmod.
I would like to install it, I even checked their page. BUT I'm afraid that I could screw
up my phone and/or lose my warranty.
Please recommend a normal installable app.

Hello and thank you!
I gave it a try today and it doesn't work at all :-/ It didn't show me even a single folder !!!
I see the message select a folder or whatever on the top and everything below is black!!
I'm gonna send an e-mail to the developers to report this bug.
Trying to download this, I found another player - EZ folder player free. It works very
nicely with my headset button, but it doesn't show the playlist and doesn't have an
equalizer...
Actually it makes me VERY SAD and VERY DESPERATE - WHY all the music players
need to have a huge icon showing NOTHING in the center and wasting the whole screen ?!?!?!?!
WHY there can't be a program, showing the playlist, as Winamp on a PC and 3 buttons
for play/pause, next and previous song? IS IT SO COMPLICATED ?!?!? And an
equalizer, of course!! Come on, guys, this is Winamp from 1993 !!! And in 2012, this
doesn't exist anymore !!!
My device is Samsung Galaxy S2 with ICS (4.0.3).
OK, regarding Music Folder Player - I can not see folders only with the paid version of this app.
I have also tried to install the free version and it works. I have also installed Music Volume EQ:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hr.podlanica&feature=search_result
This is a MUST have app!! It has an extremely nice bass boost function and now listening to
music is a really nice experience on my SGS2.
So, back to Music Folder Player - this is the player, which I will be using for now. It is by far
not perfect, but it seems to be quite working. Major disadvantages:
- it plays folders only at one level - if you have a folder that contains mp3 files and subfolders
with more mp3 files, it will play only the lower level folder. If you select some of the subfolders,
it will play only the subfolders, but never the parent folder. REALLY annoying, but not fatal
- It writes media information files to EVERY directory with music
- The equalizer does not change almost anything and it is practically useless. But this can be
solved via Music Volume EQ, so it is a really minor problem.
But it is a very customizable player and I like it a lot! Nevertheless, I am more and more
convinced, that the perfect mp3 player for Android does not exist yet
Although, there a some players in the style I like - Music folder player, EZ music folder
player, tiny player, etc... There must be also more of them. Please suggest some...
Come on, guys!! No other cool apps? I can't believe it...
I am using kamma's folder player. It supports rom's native equalizer app. UI can improve a little but pretty much suffices what I need.
Best Music Player
hi,
Try this one i am sure you would not search for anything else.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omichsoft.player
It supports Playlists, folders, genres, artists, albums and songs list.
Supports device internal equalizer.
shows itself on the Lockscreen.
and all this for an installation size of around 350 kb.
difficult to justify some (most) paid music players against this one.

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place but I have been looking for a while and I think this is where I should post. I have been looking for a good music player, and Google Play Music is one of the best for me. It has Bass booster and 3D effect. But has a big problem: it doesn't support gapless. I would understand that in streaming (and even there it would be easily fixable), but not with offline music.
So I have been trying some other music apps, and I think PowerAmp is the best. But it doesn't have 3D effect, and the Bass boost is different. I think I like more the GMusic one...
So, is there an app with Bass boost and 3D effect like GMusic but also with the gapless feature?
Thanks.
You can just use a good sound manager to get the effects how you like. I'd recommend Sound FX for working specifically with Google Music. MIUI V4's built in DSP Manager is golden.
But Google Music has the gapless issue...
Go for player pro

Just don't bump it too often, or for too long, and no-one will have any issues. Daily is polite enough, and if you've not got the answer you want after a week then you're probably not going to get it and I'd suggest going back to Google, or finding something else you want to improve
Also, the above suggestions are to use separate music player and equaliser apps. Have you tried that?
Have you tried PlayerPro?
It's got gapless playback.

No. The threads don't generally move that fast (there's currently 5 hours on the first page). Also, the more enthusiastic members are the ones that are more likely to be able to answer questions, and they don't just look at the first page.
There's no rule about bumping, but what I gave you was a general idea about the polite etiquette. If I see a thread being bumped too much I tend to delete the bumps, and the thread goes back to where it was. It's not a forum to answer your questions. It's a development forum where developers come to discuss and release software. You can't come here and expect answers. Just be patient and you'll find what you need

[GUIDE][FIX] Music "lags" while playing songs [All Xperia 2011][MDPI][GB][ICS][JB?]
I don't really know if this happens to other people but it's very annoying and i found the solution. My one for music "lags" or "jams" (don't know how to say it) is this:
1. Download and install "PlayerPro" music app from Play Store (try trial before buying full version if you wanna do it).
2. Open it and go Menu/Settings, scroll down till you see Audio (tap on it) and download and install DSP package (will open Play Store again).
3. Activate it from PlayerPro app from the same location and you'll have to restart it.
4. Then, go again to Menu/Settings/Audio and change the priority to "Maximum" (it's on "Normal" by default).
This last will give big priority to our music players (even stock WALKMAN app) in RAM. Really hope that i helped someone
By the way, sorry if i didn't give "real" translations because my app is in spanish language. Worked nice for me. No more instantly interruptions in music on GB or ICS!
Works perfect, thanks a lot bro!

thank you so much, i've been looking for a fix for this for soo long now, and imagine i have been using player pro almost all that time.

Amazing! Really Reaaaaally Amazing! But, is possible apply any solution using Google Play Music or Apollo Music Player?
Thanks a lot!
the latest update to either the dsp pack or player pro has started back the lagging :crying:
Stay Fighting!
Hi friends!
I'm testing this solution, is my last hope! xD
Install Build Drop editor on Google Play or manually edit build.drop in " /system/ "
and add this lines:
Code:
sys.keep_app_1=.com<your_music_player>
and:
Code:
sys.keep_app_1=android.process.media
This lines forces the process stay on memory and theoretically reduces the lag! Please give me feedback!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Sorry for my BAD english! xD
i'm not comfortable doing these sort of things, untill someone says it works i can handle the lagging
Works good you made my day
For those who use n7 player (in my opinion, the best player out there), you dont have to make all these steps. Just go into the app, settings, playback, and tick the audio proxy buffering option. There you have it, lag free.
(you dont have to worry about any internet data transfer, this option doesnt use internet in any way, the word "proxy" stands for something else, not internet related)
works perfectly, tested on my lww.
Thanks :good:
 Fine, this works perfectly, very thanks!
As is commonly known, at lower volumes the sound on the G pad is pretty dark and murky.
This can be improved easily by using an equalizer app and turning down the bass/lower frequencies, and turning up the higher frequencies.
I've tried a few different apps, some work, some don't.
Currently I'm using the "Music equalizer" app, which is allright but turns itself off after 30 minutes, so I'm looking for something better.
What apps have you found that work well with MX player?
(I know sound improves in other ROM's but I want to stay rooted stock, so custom ROM's are not an option right now)
Same here.
Today I installed DSP manager (from cyanogenmod).
Nice and exactly what I want, except that it doesn't work at all.

Upgrade to CM11, it will change your tab, especially concerning the sound..
Poweramp seems to be a music player rater than a generic equalizer.
About CM, have I mentioned in my start post that I want to stay stock, or did I forget to say that?

Greetings..
I know you want to stay stock but...
I was just reading this thread and I have CM-11 installed and I thought.. why not turn on Netflix and the DSP (which I was not using) and see if the DSP Mgr. does make a difference..
It Does.. A Big Difference if you adjust the EQ manually.. So at least you know you have an option should your situation become unbearable.
I know there is that option so I have considered that. Not having Qremote is not an option at this moment, so I'm not going there.
As for equalizers, I've found another one that works, but it also turns off after 30 minutes.
I have the impression that this is not so much a funcionalty, but a limitation within android.
Does anyone know if all equalizer apps will turn off after 30 minutes?
Does any app exist that I can use that doesn't turn itself off?

If you are rooted you could try AlsaMixer. It's kinda a carry over from Linux. Bear in mind that it had a major overhaul some time ago. It has so many settings for each connectin you won't believe it. Unfortunately I have no idea how to use it after the overhaul as everything is classified pretty cryptic, but I believe I saw something about 5 different EQ bands. AlsaMixer is system wide btw. The EQ is just one of many variables you can set. However finding a tutorial is imminent, if you ask me. Good luck.

I'm not certain of what I'm saying right now. But since MX Player is capable of using both software and hardware for both sound and video I suspect it may use it's own settings.. I don't know. I'm basing it on ZPlayer in the Market which I used for a long time, that one had it's own EQ and such and the dev said that the users shouldn't be using any 3rd party EQ's because it wouldn't have any effect.. May be some of the same stuff going on with MX Player since it offers all these different decoders.. Sorry, I'm not going back to stock to test this. Anything CM/AOSP related, I'll gladly check out for you. :/
I'm just wondering; DSP manager does not seem to have any effect on the sound of any apps here.
As for MX player (which is the only app I really care about for an equalizer to work with),
some equalizer apps work with it and some don't.
The few that I found that work all quit after 30 minutes, probably that's a limitation in android?
I'm starting to think harder about Mahdi rom, it sure looks nice but I just can't part yet from Qremote.

Rooted users can use viper. It is the best system wide system modulator out there. It can be found almost anywhere on these forums. If you need a link, pm me and i'll send you one.

I never understood the "pm me and I'll send you the link" attitude.
Anyway .. I agree with Charlie: it is a very good sound enhancer utility.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
Viper4androidFX works,
it works with MX player and it keeps working after 30 minutes.
I believed for a moment that this was the solution for optimizing the sound on the G pad,
however viper seems to have an unwanted effect on videoprocessing;
while streaming HD content over MX player there is a slight stutter in the video that immediately disappears when I turn viper off.
That makes useless for me really.
I am thinking about saying goodbye to the Qremote app and flashing Mahdi.
