i was also trying to do that but didn't find a way..i belive there are third party apps that can do that..but i wish to keep it simple..
AOKP removed Facebook sync since it was a hackish workaround and needs to be fixed by Facebook.
In the meantime you should be able to sync contacts with HaxSync

hey im trying to upgrade to eclipse and was wondering if there was anyway to back up my facebook contact numbers to a sd card or is there a facebook sync for eclipse
As long as you flash with 2.0.2 Facebook will sync.

Your best bet is to download an app such as Friendcaster. It's a lot easier to use than the stock facebook app, and it makes syncing easier. I'm unable to sync contacts with the stock Facebook app on my Eclipse 2.0.2, so download friendcaster

I don't understand why you guys can't sync with the official Facebook app. As soon as I installed Facebook from The Market it asked to sync, which I don't use.

I am on Joker's 0.1.0 beta. The problem is that my phone now wont add my facebook account. Facebook works fine but contacts wont sync.
Any advises?

Does it sync your FB contacts to the phone?
I use this app as well, as a replacement to the official FB app, but I can't sync with it, or even add it as a sync account in the Settings...
You dont need an app for that. You need to add the contact as a google contact and then join the google contact with the matching facebook contact. Then the pics should sync.

That is a great way!!! If only the Facebook contacts could be synced to the phone properly with ICS.... mmmmmm, maybe I'll open a post that will tell me how to sync the FB contacts to the phone, so I could join them with my google contacts...!

C'mon really. I was a being a good sport and went along with Moonshield's and CaelanT's joke. Anything further is just being immature. I'd expect better from a "Senior Member".
Uninstall and reinstall
I had the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the facebook app, and leave it on charging with wifi connected (As per my settings) overnight, and everything was in by the morning.
My FB contacts sync aok using FriendCaster on CM9 [ADT's SelfKANGish build 8]. Receive status updates, notifications, etc, also no problem.

Hiii guys) i wanna ask how to change quality on pictures of contacts!!?!?!? All pictures on contacts are in verry low quality no matter synced with facebook or pics from gallery...how to change it)??? If anybody knows please help,and answer)))

what rom are you using? if its NRGZ then, it has that problem, and go to that thread: (rad through this entire page, you'll find the answer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759&page=168) , I had the same problem, you should find your answer within the last couple of days post....the trick is that you need to sync your contacts with the "facebook for sense" under sync in settings, DON'T DOWNLOAD THE FACEBOOK APP, don't sync with native facebook app....once you have synced the first time with "facebook for sense" under sync (if its not there, you have to add an account, if you don't see "facebook for sense" you have to get the apk and push it to you /system/app") wait for all the contacts to sync and get their pictures...then if you wish you can download the facebook app. if this doesn't work the only way to do it is to do a factory restore and sync facebook, before syncing google. don't sign into google but instead go and setup facbeook for sense first and sync contacts first, then add google account.

uninstall Facebook app altogether
if your using stock, you should already have facebook for htc sense in settings-->accounts and sync--> add account --> facebook for HTC sense. wait for sync to complete...download the facebook app ...
if it doesn't work...factory reset...don't setup google account but again go to settings-->accounts and sync--> add account --> facebook for HTC sense. wait for sync to complete...then setup google account, then download facebook app..

im back on stock, there is no option to add/sync facebook under add account and there never has been. facebook for sense is listed under all applications tho
May be a noob question, but a friend of mine has the Razr Maxx and in her Handcent conversation list it shows their Facebook pics. But my SGS: II is only showing the pics linked to their Google account, not their Facebook account. How can I link their conversation/contact pic to their FB pic? Is that possible on the SGS II? I can't find the solution
try hanxsync (paid) or fb contact sync. These programs sync the fb pictures to the right contacts.

Haxsync lags and crashes the People app. I do not recommend it. Friendcaster is a facebook notification program, but it has a very good contact syncing feature and is free.

I use handcent with the original Facebook app and my pics sync. It reads the pic from the contacts so that's all u need. I had to mess with Facebook app a bit by clearing the app data and uninstalling and then reinstalling. But now that I have it , it works without a problem. It's a pain but it does work.

I did this, cleared data and reinstalled and and for some reason it still didn't work, so what I did was just remove the pic I had set for the contact and it imported their Facebook pic.

in some roms the facebook sync is disabled how to get it back on the roms so to sync the contacts...

This is Facebook app sync... I usually had problems like you in facebook usual sync. This app works like charm - Just go to google play and download Facebook contact Sync by Danut Chereches
