Have a look at Intratech's Official Firmware thread here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
There you will find stock ROMs as non-wipe versions and a description how to flash.
You don not need an Italian ROM, as all "XW" versions contain Italian language support.
Latest Italian ICS ROM is ATM XWLPF, can be found in post #3.
Latest "XW" / European version is ATM XWLPG, can be found in SamMobile or Check Fus Downloader (=> http://fus.nanzen.se/).
I recommend XWLPD, as this has best battery life on my phone and contains all major European languages (such as Italian and German ;-)

[Q] Trying to locate correct stock firmware

I recently bought a Galaxy S II here in Australia and it came with a stock Samsung firmware. Typing *#1234# gave this information:
PDA :- I9100XWKF3
Phone :- I9100XXKE7
CSC :- I9100XSAKE3
I have been flashing the phone over the weekend with custom ROMs but I didn't like any of them (some of them would not even connect to samsung's Kies software). I have been trying to find which firmware would restore my phone to its just-bought condition, but I can't seem to locate it in the SamFirmware.com firmware list.
Help please? Thanks.
Stock firmware or provider firmware in Dev section.

Actually, I've already been there. My problem is that, confronted with the unexplained alphabet soup that is the firmware names, I still can't seem to find one which matches the above details. Unless there's a convention I don't know.
information can be found on the following page. the last 5 letter+number in your PDA and Phone info are what you need to match the stock roms to your phone (in this case, XWKF3 and XXKE7). instruction is at the top of that page as well. hope it helps, buddy. best of luck!

A big thank you to dchn2 and intratech for their pointers (and intratech, again, for his wonderful stock firmware thread). I have no idea why it didn't come up when I did my searches but it has been a great read.

I need Stock ROM (I've checked the big thread)

I've looked at the Stock ROM thread but I don't know which one to get..

[Q] Backing up firmware before rooting

Hi guys,
I'm really sorry if a question like this has been answered, but I'll try my best to keep it brief.
So, I got a new blue 16GB SGS3 from Vodafone Australia today, and the stock firmware was a Vodafone branded one.

At the moment, that particular official firmware is not available for download, so I wanted to know how I can make a backup of it so it's like the type you can flash via ODIN.
In other words, I want to save it as a tar.md5 file so I can flash it back to stock in case I have to claim warranty etc. in the future.
Can someone give me a short description as to how this is done, or if possible, just link me to a full How-To thread?
Thanks for your time!
Answer is not before root .
But you can use CHECKFUS to download the original firmware or its update if its on the Samsung Server .
That can be flashed via Odin .
Or you can look for that firmware in the stock rom thread or on sammobile.com .

Thanks for the reply.
As far as I know, my current Vodafone branded firmware is not available at sammobile.com or the Official Firmware thread yet, hence the initial idea of backing up my own one.
Other than doing it AFTER root with something like CWM, is there a way to backup the current kernel?
Thanks

You shouldn't really do this if you don't know how to use Odin or flash your phone.
But here's the guide:
www (dot) teamandroid (dot) com/2013/02/08/update-galaxy-s2-i9100-xwlsd-android-412-jelly-bean-firmware/
I can't paste links yet since I havent posted much on these forums
I flashed the firmware and it did work like many others, but I had some issues and it seems that the update broke my internal storage, so I'm not really recommending to do this unless you know what you are doing
and you should definitely do some research (before posting) , do some reading (before flashing), and last but not least - if you are aware of misclicking something with the flashing...just wait for the official realease of 4.1.2 for your country/provider

OP, There is no reason for this thread. If you had searched and done research the answers to your questions would be obvious

[Q] Seeking Orange UK BVKH1 Stock files

Cyanogen mod 7 came out when I bought my S2 and I was encouraged to stick it on by a RL friend. I never got a backup of my stock ROM and I've never seen it available since...
I've searched the forum, and I've been all over this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 and there are some BVKH1 ROMs there but none for Orange UK. Is it safe to use any of those (Austria, France, Poland, Romania...)?

Thank you

try www.sammobile.com, u might find one there
Thanks for the heads-up, but it's not there. IIRC, KIES is only going to work for me if I have matching letters - BVKH1. That site has a BVLPH which tantalisingly promises Kies compatibility, but presumably only to a BVLPH-original phone, right?
ama
This is an ongoing issue been bothering me since about a week after Cyanogenmod v7 came out. I will paypal anyone £5 for the right file I need (see screenshot in earlier post) to restore my phone to stock.
