I'm always skeptical of those Chinese electronics. They do say "official" so maybe they're legit.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this is additional info on the subject. While 64GB cards are supported, they need to be formatted correctly to be fully compatible with AOSP roms. If you format the sd card in a windows PC, it will default to using the extFAT file system. I believe a Sense rom will also format using extFAT, but I cannot confirm that.
The extFAT filesystem not supported by AOSP roms due to licensing issues. The card should be formatted using the FAT filesystem, but Windows will not allow formatting of a volume larger than 32GB using FAT. To get around the issue, I formatted my 64GB with the FAT filesystem using a Linux computer. You may also be able to format directly in an AOSP rom to get the correct filesystem.

AOSP supports exFAT just fine, using open-source exfat-fuse, the same way that Linux distros support it. You must be using an old ROM.

I wasn't able to able to write to a 64GB exFAT card in the first AOSP-based ROMS I installed. Of course, that was a while back, potentially before the FUSE module for exFAT was rolled in. If I remember correctly, the first versions of ntfs-3g (the FUSE module for NTFS on Linux) were read-only. I may have been similarly limited by an early implementation of exFAT. Good to know it's fully functional now!

Mine works just fine. didn't even format it in the phone. Threw it in and I was good to go.

[Q] Do SDXC cards work on the S3??

Hi All,
I'm wondering if 64gb SDXC cards work with the S3...there's a thread that I found on some other forum where people said it works, but I wanted to get the confirmation from XDA pro's...so any idea??
It will work, but beware that the FAT32 specifications do allow for partitions larger than 32Gb. You'll need either Linux or a 3rd-part formatting tool to format a FAT32 partition.
You can always use exFAT on the uSD card, however!
With ICS 4.0.4 we lost the ability to move apps to the SD card, which - for me, at least - was a huge turn off and made an external sd card lose 50% of its funcionality.
Mine is running just fine with a SanDisk Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC 64GB. Installed it in the phone and formated it. No problems.
yes it is supported
They work but you may run into problems with exFAT. I had to reformat mine into FAT32 on an older phone as some music files just refused to show. More details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698672
Thanks a lot for the info guys..very much appreciate it

People did made it work. BUT it was on Gingerbread, I havent read much of using 64gb SDXC using ICS, apart from one saying the SanDisk SDXC works abnoramlly on Android 4 (Which might be an isolated case)
Lets BUMP this up so people can share their experiences. I for one plans to buy that same model as well

no sorry you can not use one file thats has more than 4gb size, its fat32 limitation. This beautiful app only formats cards to fat32
Is the real issue with CM itself?

So I am in the same boat... the main reason I paid big bucks for my 64gb SDXC card was so that I could watch movies, and most of my files are over 4gb in size, so FAT32 is useless to me. What drives me nuts is that my Galaxy S3 handles exFat no problem, and from what I have heard, this tablet (stock/unrooted) will support it.... so the issue appears to be with CM itself, and the developers need to do something to add support, is this correct?

I been researching for 2 days on the internet, even SanDisk Customer Service, and the software they provided SD Card Formatter 3.1, or 4.0 failed. I also tried the following: swissknife, EaseUS Partition Master 9.2.1 Home Edition, Aomei NTFS to FAT32 Converter, they all didn't work :/
The gui you found worked and easy to do a FAT32 like a charm, you rock man!!
Thank you so much!!!
For what it's worth, SanDisk now says the card must remain in exfat format to be safe.
From Amazon.com
"Product Features
-Reformat into file system other than exFAT may cause instability
-Only compatible with SDXC enabled device in exFAT format per SD Standard."
I had my card formatted to fat32 for about two months and it crapped up a few days ago... it got stuck in read only and I couldn't format it in two pc's or my phone. It's getting replaced by sandisk
It's really ironic how a high end card, which cozy a fortune even while on sale, lasts only 4 months, while some no-name cards I've been using for years have zero issues. In fact, the SanDisk 64gb card is the only brand name card I've purchased in over 10 years of using flash memory and it's the only one with a problem. Even compact flash cards I purchased in 2002 are still working

[Q] New 64 Gb micro Sd advice?

Hello All,
Like many others I have started purchasing my accessories early, so that they are ready when I get my Note 2 delivered to my door. I just received my micro SD card, and I have a few questions. I am wanting to have all my music and pictures loaded onto the SD card prior to the phone arriving. My only questions is would it be better to keep it in the format that it was sent in which was exfat, or should i format it to Fat32? I did do a search but I was unable to find a definitive answer which was best. It sounds like the note 2 can support both formats. Also most people leaned toward the exfat due to it not having the 4gb size file limitation, but I have not heard anyone successfully doing this even with it as exfat.
Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
I would ask the international folks since they actually have the device.
That being said, I will use exFAT as long as their isn't a drop in I/O performance.

Just a note about the sd cards for this phone. I talked to a Samsung rep last night and asked them what size, speed and file format works in the Note II. He said up to a 64GB Class 10 card formatted to FAT32 will work, and that it can be formatted in the phone.
I just wanted something official since I was reading so many conflicting posts on-line about what works and what doesn't.
I'm using 64gb formated exfat and have no issues. See the file sizes?

I just bought a new 64gb for my note and it doesn't work. I tried to format it and couldn't and then I put it in my friends note 2 and it formatted and worked fine. When I got mine I could not get it to work, there are several threads around on this, most say to format it using your phone which did not work for me. As I recall I ended up formatting with my PC and I had to use FAT32 filesystem. The ext32 filesystem that is suppose to handle 4GB files would not work for me.
