[Q] Camera Wont work on Virtuous Because Of Firmware Update? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I had this problem before & Ive reflashed Virtuous twice but it keeps returning after a while. I get a notification saying theres a camera firmware upgrade, but it will not upgrade, and the camera wont open? Im under the understanding that updates are supposed to be disabled? Ive been looking through the root file browser, but Im not sure what exactly IM looking for, or what would relate to this. The reason Im on a custom Rom is to get as FAR AWAY from Asus Firmware as possible! I know that Virtuous is close to stock, but I had nothing but repeated problems before I rooted & flashed a new Rom. This camera update issue was even happening on stock for me... but I would usualy just let it upgrade & it would go away for a week or two. Now I cant even do that... Someone Please Help ME! Ive tried clearing dalvick & Cache, Ive also tried fixing permissions. Im tired of having to reinstall.

[Q]Wifi issue still present factory reset fixed.

So, before I start this, Yes I was a noob. I didnt make a nandroid backup from when I first rooted my phone and everything worked 100%. I didnt read, and I guess its now biting me in the ass.
The past few months Ive been having issues with Wifi, it continuously says "Unable to scan for networks". I did a factory reset about a week and a half ago and for the first time my wifi was able to connect, however it was dropping out every couple minutes. Wouldnt even stay connected to install any market updates.
I figured that it was something with my dying router(Which Ive since replaced) so I flashed in BAMF to see if I could keep my wifi connection with another rom. Ive been using VirusROM(Love it even though its out od date). I wiped and flashed in BAMF, and restarted. When I restarted, I had no wifi again. Since then, Ive been trying out different ROMS and kernels in hopes that I would find something that would fix it. Nothing did.
After this I figured that I would just do another factory reset and go from there, however with all of the times Ive done the factory resets it never actually gets reset. Does it wipe my info? Yes, but it boots back up with all of the portions of whatever ROM I had installed last. Not reset. So now Ive ended up with two problems.
1. I still have no wifi
2. I cant factory reset so that I can figure out what is going on with my wifi.
Ive wiped Cache/Batt Stats/Davlick and done a factory reset literally six times in a row to hopefully clean EVERYTHING OUT to no avail. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I hope Im just missing something small because Im still new to android.
Edit: I DO NOT use kernel manager and I dont use ROM manager to flash it in, I flash everything in through recovery.

I'm sure there's an RUU out there that will take your phone back to stock but I honestly doubt that's the issue here. What radio version are you using? Have you tried flashing different radios to see if that would fix it. You can find a list here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045081. Also what ROM are you currently on?
When you install a ROM, it modifies the /system directory which is responsible for everything, how the rom looks, included apps, drivers etc.
When you do a factory reset, I'm guessing through recovery, it is only clearing the /data and /cache partitions.
You will have to flash a stock RUU to get it to truly go back to the day you got it.
Here are instructions on how to return to stock:

The ROM Ive been on hasnt mattered. Ive jumped through BAMF, the new Cubed Rom, the Deodexed stock debloat and Virus' Airborne(which is my daily driver). Ive done the different radios. I was on the v2 leaked for a while, then I switched to the new 3g and old 4g to see if its worked but it hasnt. I may have to try out the original one and see if that works, but I havent had wifi since before I flashed in the leaked radio when it came out.

Gotcha. Trying this now. I will make sure to make a nandroid this time if it works. lol.
@isdnmatt: Thanks, that got rid of my recovery problem
Still having wifi issue though. 100% out of the box stock and I get the "Unable to scan for networks
**** me, I should have read that before I did it. Now I have to reroot. Goddamnit.
Have had the same problem with WiFi before and after ADB root. It will sometimes forget both my home and work networks. I've found the problem usually occurs when I'm connected then move put of range. A reboot fixes the problem sometimes. Other times I have to re-enter my settings. I'm still on the stock Rom, nothing custom.

Thats a separate issue than what Im having. Im not having issues with it forgetting my networks. I cant scan for networks.
I am thinking of downgrading the radio.
EDIT: after LOTS of research here, I upgraded to MR2 and Gingervitis. All of my WiFi issues are gone.

[Q] ROM + Cleaning Advice

Hey everyone. I have a friend who has been attempting to root and install roms on his i777 device for a while now and every time it seems like something else gets screwy. I have an HTC so I know little about the process of working on his Samsung device, I thought it would be about the same but it seems way more complicated... Anyway I think all his problems started with a bad ROM he installed unknowingly when he first attempted to root his phone. And since then he has went to ICS then back to Gingerbread and it keeps getting more crazy. He has tried to do a factory reset on it but it fails half way through now so it wont even let him pull that off.
So my two questions are:
1) What is the best way to get this phone completely cleared up?
2) And what is a good/dependable Gingerbread ROM for this device?
I did a bit of digging on ROMs and found several in the "AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII i777 Index" thread. But since I dont have this device I cant try any of them out for him, and like I said early I know little on Samsung devices.
Thanks for any help!

1) Full wipe in CWM.
2) No one uses Gingerbread ROMS anymore (for the most part). As a matter of a fact we'll be getting Jellybean soon! Stick to an ICS rom, I recommend either AOKP or CM9.
EDIT: If he wants more of a stock feel, try out Mystics Glory.
Ok. Number one, if he wiped with the stock ics kernel installed, there's a chance he messed up his phone. The stock ics kernel had a severe bug in it. Number two, after he's no longer in ics stock kernel , do a full wipe including system, data, cache, dalvik, and run kernel cleaning script. Thirdly, there are a number of roms out there. Tell him to try them and see which one fits.

I thought about doing all the wipes as well. I wasnt sure if they would work or not though because he cant backup and the factory restore isnt working. I told him to try it through CWM and recovery apparently neither are working well.
And he doesnt want ICS anymore because they changed how the phone connects with tether. With Gingerbread he just had to freeze Tethering Manager to get it to work in ICS Tethering Manager doesnt exist anymore so the same process doesnt work.
However Im sure he would like an ICS ROM if it unlocked tethering for him. The illuminati ROM on my Vivid unlocked the tethering for me, is there something similar for the i777?

In AOKP you can tether with no issues(it also unlocks it). As far as the other stuff, if he did a full wipe like the post above said, with stock recovery. His phone may be messed up
Alright thanks for the help. I'll see if we can get anywhere this afternoon with AOKP. I'll be back after we see where that gets us! lol

[Q] BIG problem - Stuck on Gingerbread 2.3.3 (old I know) trying to change custom ROM

Hi there, ive looked all over online and on here for about a week solid now for a solution for this and cannot find one anywhere! My situation is.. im running gingerbread 2.3.3 on my S2 that I got in 2011. As soon as I got it I flashed the Lite'ning ROM to it. It worked fine up until christmas just gone and just all of a sudden started saying this error message when I tried to open anything, such as messages, contacts, google, camera etc..
"sorry the application ..... (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"
So I have just been trying to get the phone back to orignal factory settings by putting a factory ROM on, or install a new custom ROM in the hope that this will solve the problem and get the phone working normally again. I used Odin and installed a custom ROM successfully (so I thought) but when I rebooted the phone I was still stuck on Lite'ning ROM and everything was how it was before. The same happened when I installed a factory ROM. I also tried to install a custom ROM via the SD card, but this failed everytime.
One other thing.. when I restore to factory settings while on the CMW and then reboot the phone.. nothing has gone, its exactly the same, with all my contacts, pictures and apps. I never knew it would be so hard to restore my phone. Im hoping someone here can advise me on what to do... Ive a feeling it might be to do with the fact the phone is gingerbread 2.3.3 and all the custom ROMs now are made for ICS or Jelly Bean? If so how do I get my phone to work with these ROMs. Thanks for reading and I really hope someone can help!

I think you should try a 3-files odin flash rom.
If you search in google for "Odin 3-files i9100" than you will find the rom

[Q] Cannot connect to camera

Hi. I havent posted very often here. I really appreciate what all the devs do here! Anyways. I have a brand new HTC One. Unlocked the bootloader through hassoon's all in one toolkit, rooted it with SuperSU, and flashed the kernel called ElementalX. I used all the default settings while setting up ElementalX. Im not sure if my camera stopped working after I flashed all the kernel and everything else, but I am trying to use the camera now, to check out Zoe and just fool around with it, but I cannot get the camera to load. I went to settings>apps>all>camera> and cleared all the data, all the cache, and force stopped. Tried to connect the camera again, no luck, still says cannot connect to camera. I also reboot the phone and no luck still. I just installed nova launcher free edition, so im going to try and switch back to the Sense UI instead of Nova and see if that helps.... anyone experiencing any similar problems? or know of any ideas to fix this???
Thanks again!

Anyone? Any ideas?
Anyways. I reflashed the Kernel. But this time I opted in for the Camera fix option, which I opted out for last time because the installer says you dont need to do the camera fix if on a stock rom, which % am on a stock rom. Well, after it was all done and flashed again, with the camera fix this time, the camera seems to work. So I will reboot it again (the instructions of the kernel say you need to), and see if it still works.

[Q] getting errors after flashing roms. normal or not?

Hi. i own an HTC EVO V 4G (Virgin Mobile). i used the Search function but sadly didnt found exactly what i needed.
a month or so after activating the phone, i decided to Root, S-off, Flash Recovery, bootloader and a custom Rom. However, its been a while now, that when i do a fresh install i get some inconsistency problems. for example, my first Rom was Harmonia, but later on i switched to MidnightRom. there the problems started to show up. the Sense version was working fine, but then i wanted to try out the Jellybean version. and when i did (after wiping everything, of course) some apps were not working. PlayStore wouldnt let me download anything, Tethering was not working, when using "reboot" the phone would get in a bootloop, which would only go away by removing the battery. and 3D games (Shadowgun, Temple Run, etc.) were graphically laggy. more like, unplayable. the image was distorted to the point it was impossible to see what was going on. messed around with fixing permissions, deleting Cache and Dalvik, re-flashing, and the problem was still there. i tried with other Jellybean Roms (both 4.1 and 4.2) and noticed that the problems were still there. anyways, after deciding to live with the problems (running Wild For the Night). months later i decide to flash MidnightRom again and i see that all the problems are magically gone. to this day ive been running only 4.1+ Roms and i dont have many issues whatsoever. BUT. i tried a Senseless Stock-based Rom the other day (started to miss 3D camera) and it ran well, but the overall behavior of the phone was laggy. it would take longer than usual to do anything. took me about 5 re-flashes to get rid of all the problems. then just yesterday i tried a few other Roms. some worked, though DU was really laggy, and the icons would switch places by themselves at times. as i saw the problem was not going away with re-flashing, fixing permissions and whatnot, i decide to restore to my most stable Flashed Rom.
just to clarify, here is what i do every time im about to flash a new ROM:
Wipe everything except SD card
Wipe Cache and Dalvik
Flash.
Reboot
after i flashed, if something went wrong, or if im flashing something ontop:
Wipe Cache and Dalvik
Fix permissions
Reboot
so question is, is this normal? does this has to do with the phone switching from ICS to JB? or am i doing something wrong?
also, just curious... is there a way one could, say, by some weird reason be "half S-off"? because although my bootloader says S-Off, and i have been able to flash many things, i remember that when doing the Wire thing i experienced many errors, and the thing said it was successful by itself a few seconds later while i wasnt doing anything.
and also, which is the best and most stable Hboot version i could use?
My HBoot version is 1.04.2000 (PG8610000)
Radio is 1.09.00.0706
My Recovery is 4EXT latest version
Thanks in advance
