Trying to edit the APN.xml but none of the editors can load it. Tried Notepad, Notepad++ and 3 other editors. I want to learn the basics of a ROM and I wanna input my tethering fix as well as deleting the other APNs. Any help would be appreciated!
By the way, I'm running on Windows 7.

looks like an encoding "problem". try playing with various encoding options, and you should be good to go
Where is that xml located? You might need to decompile if its located in one of the framework files. (Framework-res.apk)
Then it should read correctly. pm me if you continue to have problems cause I'm pretty good with this stuff lol

If it's in the framework-res.apk, you do need to decompile it. Relevant thread can be found here.

I decompiled the Framework-res.apk with AutoAPKTool and WinRar. Still no solution.

and yes, the easiest way is to use a kitchen. i recommend this one. and if one of the files doesnt deodex right we can always borrow that specific file from another rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
it has an option to deodex either just /system/app, /system/framework, or both

I'm talking about the official Twitter For Android not any 3rd party. The new UI is pretty fantastic and I started using it again. Can anyone takeba crack at it?
Also, I have absolutely no idea if this is possible or not but is there anyway to make Twitter use "RT" instead of the quote is uses now. Like I said I doubt its possible but there's no hurt in asking
Thanks guys and Gals

No way to do this from the Twitter app. I use TweetDeck for this purpose, it will let you do the RT thing instead of just directly quoting, so you can add what you want or tags friends in the tweet.

I just thought it was common practice to open up the zip file and change it to your liking before flashing. Seriously, though, why a whole ROM? If you *had to* post something, a few kilobyte file that'll change the build.prop file to a specified something would be more appropriate.

Why don't you guys report The Thread?SUM
Well you guys can type as easy anything you want you are entitled to reasoning.

And moreover if this is not for you to try or use or just walk on and continue to work on

Is everything you do just for a simple 'thanks' ???
The spirit of XDA is not to upload simple stuff and claim you did wonders, just so you could trick people into clicking the 'thanks' button.
If you really want to contribute, then do it not for the 'thanks'. But really share quality work to others, and the thanks will come on its own. It's what a community is supposed to do...

Youre right.
- f3w1n -
Honestly you should just wait, or get hold of the s3 leak that already includes it.
It is wired so deep in the frameworks you will never get it fully working, or maybe not even at all if you tried to port from the note.
There is one dedicated apk, then there is code in xml's of several other apks and various libs and other files.
The multi window function is part of the systemui apk. Read thru this thread.
You'll have to edit it yourself if you want to port it to other devices.

I would really have to read some more. So far from what I've read I would need to download the cm source run the patch then build the rom. Not sure my pc can handle that. I wonder if some one who already has the source could do this. I also haven't seen what files it changes so you could just make a flashable zip.

Firstly, this should be done on a computer.
1. Pull the SystemUI apk from your phone. Its in /system/priv-app in case you don't know.
2. Rename the file to SystemUI.zip so you can extract it. Extract it.
3. Navigate to /res/drawable-xxhdpi and select that file to view all images inside.
4. Do a search for all files that begin with 'stat_sys_data_connected' then look for all the images that pertain to a T-Mobile rom.
5. Find the LTE image you'd like to use and copy it several times. Rename it to the exact file names of the signal icons you want to replace (G, E, 3G, and 4G). After you've replaced all those (should be 4 files) rezip up the folder, rename it to SystemUI.apk and transfer to your phone to replace the original.
It sounds pretty lengthy but should take about 5 minutes or so. If you want help I may be able to.
Is there away to make a flashable zip were you could just flash it through recovery and then just reboot.I dont have a computer. Thanks...

I don't want to be rude to you, but this has to be said.
Asking for a flashable zip for something on XDA is a quick way to get flamed. XDA is a place to learn things not ask other people to make zips for you that you just click a few buttons to install.
@nbeebe24 gave you very detailed instructions on how to extract the systemui and replace the icons yourself. He then asked you to send your system ui apk, but you didn't know how so you just told him the name of the rom you're using.
Asking the question wasn't a problem at all and the first response by @nbeebe24 was awesome. If you didn't know how to follow those instructions, ask more questions...people will help you more willingly if you actually want to learn and not just ask "can you make a flashable zip for me?"
Please re-read his instructions and ask any questions that you might have an I personally will answer them. Ive edited signal pngs so mamy times its almost a daily thing for some reason. Even if he gives you a flashable zip, don't use it. What's going to happen next time you want something? Ask for a flashable zip again and hope somone is nice enough to give it to you? No, if you learned how in the first place, you yourself could do it next time!
Again, don't take this the wrong way...I'm just trying to help.
(Ignore typos..typed on my phone)

I don't want to be rude to you, but this has to be said.
Asking for a flashable zip for something on XDA is a quick way to get flamed. XDA is a place to learn things not ask other people to make zips for you that you just click a few buttons to install.

Well said. I try to help people help themselves on here most of the tine for their own benefit. No harm done though. If I have extra time I'll help someone out, but I agree with being self sufficient and asking questions.
