[Q] What's the difference between WT19i and WT19a? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I had a tiny question before i go to buy my SE LWW. What's the difference between wt19i and wt19a. according to gsmarena.com they provide different hsdpa frequencies. I'm from Bangladesh and 3g/hsdpa is coming within a month in my area do which one should i buy. and another thing. when i went to the local grey market i saw to types of SE LWW. the first one had only INTERNATIONAL KEYBOARD setting in its language and keyboard setting. its box and everything papers are written in English. the other one, which i saw only in one shop, has an additional CHINESE KEYBOARD setting. and it has some applications preinstalled in Chinese and also its box is written in Chinese. i think one is made for international market and another for Chinese market. but are they related to the difference of wt19i and wt19a?
pardon my ignorance

According to me, shops sell only phones, that can work in your region.
One of the phones might be branded by the provider.
EDIT: According to this, http://opinion.bdnews24.com/2011/08/10/3g-mobile-in-bangladesh-hope-vs-hype/, 2100 Mhz band will be used there, and both, WT19i and WT19a have 2100 Mhz band option, so seems like it doesn't matter.

Maybe for country released..
In Malaysia,we got Sk17i but I changed mine into Sk17a firmware
And in America, they got Sk17a as far as I remember...

The 'i' is for international and the 'a' stands for America in the suffix of Xperia models.
Well in Bangladesh both of them is compatible. But you would rarely find a WT19a in BD. All are WT19i

[email protected] you so much for your prompt reply. you even googled our local newspaper to find Bangladeshi frequency. wow. too good :-D
and by the way, we don't have authorised sellers of SE here so we have to check for ourselves that if we are buying the right phone. and in this part of the world we buy handset and sim card separately, not in contract.
[email protected] think its rare to change from i to a by official update. ain't it?

Hey guys...
To anyone who has done this before- we need a CID unlocker for the STRTrk!

i have read that article, sounds easy but it is not as easy as many think...
anway, we can flash all versions and all roms allready but we do not release it, we just do it for dealers in china and hk, if there is any request can contact us
btw, unlocking is also possible
and what's funny is, i don't trust your company as there isn't a single US reseller.

first of all, we have an us reseller, second of all you no need to trust us, and finally third thig, it is NOT PUBLIC YET, we just doing it for ourself or for dealers in china or hk.
and spending $65 for something that can be done for free is justified right??? and apparently your "US" reseller is supposedly based out of arizona, yet has a Washington DC AND an arizona number? yeah that sounds legit...why have a DC number??
i'm super happy for you that you figured out how to CID unlock these phones, i really am; but charging people for it? that's BS, especially when there's completely FREE alternatives! sure, you're product is for n00bs, but what's the percentage of people who are n00bs that have WM phones?

than show me free alternative how to simunlock or cidunlock this phones feel free and post here the link...
so the possibility are:
- do not unlock your cid and use the only the rom from your vendor
- wait until solution is free
- call raskal and bring phone to his office
Believe me, a dealer having 50 or more phones, have no time to wait or to think, he need sell out his stock and turn the money again..., and belive me he is not a n00b, otherwise he would not be a dealer.
and prove to me your "service" CID unlocks this phone...

That's great news!!!!

Sorry for redundancy, but I asked the same question over at SPV...
Any idea when you'll be releasing the unlocker to the minions? I found a band-aid for the missed call problem with the Qtek (here) , but we're waiting for the permanent fix of installing a working ROM.

Foreign languages

Will foreign languages finally be standard on these android phones?
I've been rooting to add libs all the time especially for semitic languages like hebrew and arabic. Recently its been near impossible to do it on the evo after the 3.70 upgrade.
If google and htc want to really get global, or more global than apple, they seriously need to consider the fact that their market can extend further than the english language barrier that they are restricting themselves to.

As usual no opinions or posts on my rants of wanting arabic. Gosh. I'm at the bottom of the list.

yeah i know. cuz if someone had a little bit of info, there's no doubt that they would share it here. i love this website, the devs and the whole community. whatever knowledge they have, they are willing to spill it on the screen
on a side note. i believe that the lack of foreign fonts is more of a sense thing as opposed to a google thing.
so HTC step your game.
So just in case HTC monitors this, which I believe they do. I just want to let you know that this lack of foreign language support (spcifically semitic languages) is getting ridiculous. My main reason for buying HTC is for the ease of rooting (from the hero to the evo 4g to now the evo 3d.
adding arabic libs, when possible, is awesome sauce. I can follow the arab spring revolutions through my facebook and twitter apps. and the emails that are sent back and forth from back home, provided that the phone is "arabized," keep me updated on all of the current events going on.
now, there are 29 days for htc to unlock it and/or provide support for foreign languages or else i would have to consider them part of the regime. and as you all know, the people want the downfall of the regime. (bad joke, but if you've been following the mid east revolutions, then you'd understand)
even in my old evo 4g i was running 3.30 firmware (vaelpak 2.3) and couldn't upgrade to 3.70 firmware because of the lack of support in the libraries.jar portion of the nwe firmware. and since htc wont release source code.... i had to stay behind everyone else.
plus i like to sh-t on my i-douchebag friends and family of mine. and when they see my letters aren't "connected" and are NOT going from right to left, well then its +1 for iphone and -1 for HTC/google/me
so in conclusion, like i've stated in an earlier post. STOP RESTRICTING YOURSELF WITH THE LANGUAGE BARRIER.
I seriously dont get it. Just add foreign language support (especially for semitic languages). Whoever uses it... uses it. whoever doesn't... it doesn't hurt them. WTF?!?!?!
/rant
Arabic please..
how did you add the languages into the rom? im looking to get polish onto a stock rom

For the people who didn't received the SmartTag in the package

I've wrote many times to different supports, but the one who gave me the right address was on facebook.... Well they did a web page where you have to compile a form including your imei, and they will send at home for free the two smart tags.
This is the site for italy:

Maybe you can find the right one for your state.

Got the cable with mine, and I got2 smarttags with mine. Not particularly useful at the moment, but i'll keep them as the need for them may arise in the future.
Sent from my Xperia S via transwarp beacon.
Got my simfree, i assumed from seeing unboxing videos before the official release that we would get at least 2 in the box... Fair enough but why dont sony release the accessories at the same time as the phones?
Bought mine in Malaysia and got bundled Livesound headphones, sony branded car charger, HDMI cable & 2 NFC tags.

Z3v root verification real or scam?

Can someone tell me if this is a legit root for the Verizon Sony Xperia Z3v?
http://www.how-to-root.club/mp3-0/sony-xperia-z3v-6796.html
or this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH89pJLWfKg
Or is it all a scam? I tried looking for the first one through XDA cause they are claiming they rewrote the tutorial from XDA
It's a scam
First link, I just judge by what color ring my WOT icon is, and it's yellow. So no, not trusted.
Second link, look at how many dislikes compared to likes. So...nope! xD
If anything, someone who's notable would come out around these parts (on XDA) to make announcements that our phones is getting root with his/her proven work, that's where you should be getting from.
Edit: For the first link, you could even try navigating around the website. All of the links ends up back at that one page. Don't fall for stuff like this, trust in the true Lollipop update when it comes. lol

I don't know if it's a scam (will install malicious sw if you try it) or just someone who didn't know what they're talking about (regurgitated content that doesn't apply to us). First, z3v is not on the supported devices for the root process. Neither is the regular z3. As far as Lollipop, the instructions require an unlocked bootloader, which we don't have.
Wonder if one of those is the Ransomware that is going around? Install the malicious app and your phone is locked down until you pay a "ransom" to get it unlocked.

Is the xperia z3v better and faster than the xperia z3 !!
I really want to buy the xperia z3v ... and the xperia z3 !!! It's hard to choose. ...
help me please. ..
Well with you already being international I would recommend the Z3 with it being a global phone. I'm not certain which one would take advantage of your towers the easiest.
And with the international version, you get root and a two day battery life. Plus higher ISO sensitivity with your only drawbacks in pink circles appearing on your pictures and maybe faulty wrist straps that ruin waterproof.
Eh...

Guys where we can get Find X in Global version.
Any good confirmed web sites where we can order it without issues.
Chinese version is everywhere for around 980$
Also in for a legit site with real Global model

Okay, I have watched many India videos of unboxing the oppo find x and they all show the same model number as pafm00. I don't think there is a "global" variant. I would love to be proven wrong if someone could show me otherwise.
Well. If you want to wait, then it would have to be the European release as Mandarin is the #1 most spoken language in the world because of India alone. So the Chinese variants do not differ from India

Not really, I see no mention of Mandarin being a commonly spoken language in India in either link I posted.
Again, I've never been to either country,so, I admittedly have no 1st hand experience with what languages are commonly spoken in India, just what I've read & researched on the subject.
Regardless, the phone hardware is nice, the software blows major chunkage, making for a rather unsatisfying experience in any language, especially at the current price......

Yeah. I know what you are saying. I got the phone and it is great. Almost all Mandarin is gone except voice assistant. But I learned the word to unlock it so I'm happy.
But just a side, here's an article to indicate the push of Mandarin (Chinese) in India as to the reason why, Indians version does not vary from China. And as original stated, just will have to wait on the England launch

Hey. Great to have one. When I traveled over, doing research. I was educated on the fact that Mandarin and english was learned to grow business and other aspects . Along with the other languages and dialects. A few of my colleagues in India also speaks Mandarin. So could it be by areas? I know statistically, Hindi is supposed to be the main.

Hopefully.
Based on the link from this thread. The possibility may be there if we can understand the language and hey someone inside to help release the info or give us ever we need.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-X/development/unconfirmed-flashing-tool-oppo-x-t3823160
I wouldn't be first to try flashing the Euro software onto the Chinese device, I've read a number of carnage reports on these forums doing that. Even when possible a mistake can lead to brickage with some devices; a notable example would be the Find 7. Do it right you were ok, make a mistake and you were dead. A very different thing from a vanilla android device which is very hard to truly brick.
Smart money is to wait for the actual Euro version which is not what is being seen in the Indian Tube videos, that is the Chinese variant. The Euro version will not require the seller to install the play store, it will not have a locked launcher as that is against googles terms of service for devices offering the play store. It may or may not have the overly aggressive app shutdown and whether the bootloader will be unlocked is in question. Still, if you're wanting to drop ching that's the device to take a chance on.
i think that they do not want to make some of those changes which is the reason they aren't planning to launch in the US..
PS- mine came with the playstore preinstalled and it is apart of the system apps.. however google play services was not apart of system apps..

My assumption right now is that indian version will be the global one.. point in case the vivo nex doesn't have any issues with 3rd party launchers or jivo shoved down our throats... The Indian version should be good to go
Yes, that's what I'm saying: The version being shown by the Indian Tubers is the Chinese variant. We need to wait for the international. There is no data I can find that confirms the Indian version will be packing the international firmware although like you I presume it. Folks should be aware that India has mandated a spam blocking software on all cell phones sold within the country. It appears it does that but also is a serious piece of spyware which is something to consider when a purchase comes to mind. I suspect this can be easily removed but again no one can prove it until it's done. Meanwhile the Euro version will not have it and is going to be the safest bet when it becomes available.
Some good update from emailing oppo.
After reading the email from the post above I think that now situation is pretty clear.
At the moment ony one hardware model of device is sold (in both india and china). What is different is just the firmware, where for indian market it’s google friendly, with all preinstalled (and i would say european friendly too).
So right now when any online store says that sells global version, it’s just the chinese hardware with indian firmware.
I think that the good news is that hardware is the same! If we found the indian firmware and the flashing tool enabled, we are good!
