I need serious help with my i9000 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I am in the process of installing Dark Knight onto my Galaxy S i9000.
I have wiped data and done a factory reset and also wiped delvik cache.
However i didnt put the 4.0.4 ROM on the internal sdcard!
I am now completely stuck on how to get over this.
How do i put the ROM on the sdcard when the phone is in this state?
Im finding it hard.
Im useless with all this stuff.
If you could help me guys that would be great.
Regards,
Ben

Just switch on the phone and put it there...
The stuff that you have wiped shall be rebuilt after the first boot...
Factory reset and wiping dalvik cache and data won't do any harm (unless its specifically mentioned for your device)...

Hi Acid thanks for that.
But how exactly do you mean?
When i switch it on it just goes through the start up sequence over and over and when i connect it to the PC it doesn't recognise it.
Thanks, Ben

What you are facing now is known as bootloop...
If you want more specific help, ask this question at your devices' q&a...
All I can tell you is to install any stock rom, and go through the process again...

Edit: sorry for double post, network error...

[Q] Problem with overcome 1.2.2

Hello, I had problem with this room and i dont know how i will repair my tablet p7510. When i instaled Overcome v 1.2.2 i restarted the system and when started the loading of system the loading dont stop and the tablet dont start o.0 help me
Is it bootlooping? Or it freezes completely?
If it is bootlooping, then try to wipe. => Turn off the tablet using long-press of power button, then go to recovery and select wipe data/factory reset (not sure exact label)
If wipe didn't help, then try restock your tablet using odin.
Hope this will help.

I think you are a 1st flasher, so some questions:
1st: have you wiped cache and dalvik cache, so as told you here on XDA or on the authors webpage?
2nd: why you don't ask in the overcom thread?
3rd: why you start more then one threads with that question? ->here<- Please edit that, and tell it was a little mistake or ask to delete the posting.
4th: i know it sounds harsch, but that are the rules on XDA. But no problem for now, we all have started once .
I am sleepy, overcomb is for p7500 only

Deep cleaning

I would like to do a deep cleaning of my S3.
I am not talking about soft resets and stuff like that.
I am trying to do this as deeply as possible, since I suspect I have a problem that is software related.
Can you point me to the best way to do it?
I have factory reset as well as wiping the cache/dalvik cache several times.
I need to go deeper!
Inception references aside, can anyone help me?
Lol .. funny guy hope you get it fixed bro
Somebody will be along shortly to help you go ball's deeper ahem ! .. clean deeper : )

Super Wipe in this post .

factory reset (Don't dial
it does not ask you to
confirm unless you have
problem)
Cleaned up all the data on my internal SD and full rest..
Easy, reboot into recovery, wipe cache, dalvick then format system.
After that you will have a clean phone BUT make sure you backup your rom so that you can restore it afterwards or make sure you copy the rom of your choice on your root to be able to flash it.

There are multiple ways you can do this......Format System/data/cache then factory reset your phone.
or an easier way is the Super Wipe that someone posted above.
I have done all of the above. What I was looking for was a deeper cleaning of the phone
Is this possible?

Putting it in tub of Clorox is the only other method i can think of now.. LOL sorry.
hehehehehe.
Ok, thanks.
I did a super wipe and it seems to have solved it, but it usually freezes like once a week or so, so I'm not sure yet. Thank you all for your help!

[Q] Need Help

I flashed FlappJaxx Beta 3 and had a bad down load or something so anyway tons of reboots and nothing just the non stop vibrate.. well i i finally got it back to the down load screen after pulling the battery several times. and got it Odin back to unrooted and turn on followed the unroot instruction well i left it stock and have had same issue where i click something and it flashes and just vibrates over and over until i pull battery.. well is this phone dead is there a fix?
I odin back again and same thing im going to odin back to stock again then do a stock root and flash another room but its doing the stupid reboot over and over vibrate thing even with the non-rooted stock rom. i just can't seem to find any direction on how to fix this or is it just a lost cause. wanted it to hold on till Note 2 hit shelves but looks like a s3 in my futures.

First of all, I'm no pro at this stuff but I feel your pain.
It sounds like you are getting stuck in a boot loop of sorts.
What I would do if I was you, after flashing a rom, go back into Recovery mode on the phone and clear out the cache partion, wipe Dalvik cache, and then wipe data/factory reset. After that, reboot your phone - it should start up normally. This is what I do to my phone to get it to function as it should.
Hope that helps
i went in to the advance tab and formatted everything hahah.. it juts wiped and odin back to stock again bout to wipe it and try to odin root see if i can get it done. worth a try ive tried to much stuff im bout to take phone out get my 338 tape to a zombie target and have some fun!

Agreed ...
When returning to stock via Odin ...you must reboot into your recovery and wipe data and factory reset the device prior to rebooting.
Even though you wiped prior to flashing the stock Odin .tar image.
These devices stay dirty even after wiping data on occasion ...g

Boot into your recovery, and "fix permissions "...then reboot.
That should clear up the rest of the issues ...g

oh really? wow i didnt even think about that im wiping again and flashing odin to stock but this time after it boots i will wipe factory reset. then root factory reset and fix permissions. thank for the help!
Always welcome ....
Fixing permissions is overlooked a lot ...
And the wrong permissions will cause FC's all over the build ..
I always fix permissions after any flash or modification ....it's just a good habit to get into ...IMHO ...g

[Q] Problems flashing due to factory reset

Hi guys,
First off, I am new here, so this may not be the best place for this question.
Now, for my question. I have a galaxy s2 and I have tried flashing the Neat Rom on it. However, it always end up in a bootloop. I think the reason is that the factory reset option in ClockWorkmod from rom manager DOES NOT delete all the data in my phone.
So the questions are:
1) Does the data in my phone (like photos etc) need to be deleted to ensure a smooth install?
2) If yes, then how do I make sure when I am in recovery mode (is that what it is called?), the factory reset deletes ALL data.
3) Is this the only thing that causes the bootloop (I have followed all the steps that need to be followed, including wiping data)
I am pretty desperate for flashing a new ROM, because my stock one devours battery.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Saltymount

Wipe cache and dalvik cache and after flashing, if it bootloops, take battery out, boot to recovery and flash it again.
It helped for me.

Well thanks for taking time to help me with that, but I tried it already and it didn't help. Basically what I need is to be able to COMPLETELY wipe the data off my phone before I flash the ROM. My assumption is that, as I said before, the data in my phone is not being wiped away. This is so as, after flashing back stock ROM with Odin (after the bootloop) , all my data, like files, photos etc is all there. And I have read up some information about flashing and I do realise that you cannot have any data on the phone before flashing because the new OS(?) cannot read it or something.
Anyway thanks,
Saltymount
Hey all,
I have yet to find the solution so if one of you 72 people who have seen this question could help, that'd be good.

Hey monkeybanaana,
After a lot of different tries (millions maybe), and sighing and convincing myself that your method will not work, I just gave it a shot. And what do you, know it worked! Thanks man, I am trying out Neatrom for s2 right now.
Thanks again,
Saltymount

I have had that problem a few times in the past and solved it by doing a mega wipe and then reinstalling rom take a look at this thread >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/tool-mega-wipesuper-wipefactory-t1832326 << (i am not talking about a normal factory reset and wipe it must be a mega wipe ) remember backup everything you need this will totally wipe your phone.
thank you im testing it right now hope it works....
