So for some reason, every night (overnight) the phone will lose signal (perhaps the strength isn't the best in my bedroom) so when I wake up I have no signal.
Unfortunately, when I then venture out, the phone will not pick up a signal again. Its almost like it's a bug that once signal is lost it has real trouble finding it again.
The only solution is to reboot. Setting airplane mode on and off again doesn't help.
Its starting to annoy me, has anyone else seen this behaviour?
Hey mate. Have you tried a factory reset? What bout flashing the Omega ROM? (Has a different radio inside).
Also, have you tried changing from Auto Select Operator to explicitly choosing Optus? I know Optus only has one network (as opposed to Telstra who have Telstra and 3Telstra) but just something that sprung to mind as worth trying.
Hi mate. I imagine its definitely a radio/kernel issue so I'm hoping a custom rom will fix it.
A mate of mine said he had the same problem with his Nexus when that first came out.

Apparently the issue with the Nexus was to do with the phone putting the radio to sleep after a while, then never waking it up until rebooted.
Annoying.
In case anyone's actually reading this, I had the phone replaced yesterday and this morning I still had signal, so that's promising. I'll keep an eye on it.

Long time lurker. I'm no programmer and so thought I'd have nothing usefull to say aside from inane comments about upcoming projects just creating more mess to read through.
So now is my time to shine, well, what i mean is ask you guys for help. so here goes.
Firstly I'd like to make it clear this problem occurs when my phone is unplugged from usb...
Ok so every time i flash something to my phone, (either a rom or a radio) my Wifi will work just fine for around a day, and then packs up. It greys out, and on the comm manager screen it will not switch back on. Hd2 thinks about it for a few seconds, and then gives up. I've gone to every single settings page where turning Wifi on is an option, and still it lies there dead. Just to clarify, I'm not turning Wifi on and not finding any networks, or only certain networks,,, the adapter simply will not turn on.
If common sense serves me well, this feels like something is messing with my radio rom after installation. The same happens when booted into android, so i don't think it's an OS issue.
I've tried as many different Rom and Radio combinations as i feel is necessary to figure out that I need to ask you guys.
Any help would be highly appreciated as I love this phone (got it a couple of weeks ago) and even enjoy trying to figure out all the problems it seems plagued with but just can't figure this one. I live in england a bought a TMOUS on ebay so that's my model.
P.S I searched and searched and searched before posting and only found one other thread with this problem but it never really came to fruition.

Ok, so here's the scoop.
Earlier today for no reason that I can pinpoint I lost all Cellular connectivity on my photon while at work. No calling, no 3G, etc. I figured it was just a hiccup or possibly that they where working on the towers in my area and that it would eventually just come back up.
That was over 12 hours ago, and I have already traveled from work, to home and still no change.
I began to think that maybe my PRL was out of date, so I flashed back to a blur based Rom that has worked for me in the past (I normally use CWM7.2 and moved to Imperium_Initiative_v1.0.5 to try and do this) and tried to initiate the update there.
Still, no results. Not only would the PRL & profile not update but I got a general "NETWORK_ERROR" every time I attempted to do so.
I'm getting a little desperate because I really need to have my phone active for work and other reasons.
I've already restored old NAND backups, restarted the phone numerous times, and so far nothing is working...
If it is indeed a PRL issue, is there a way to manually flash an updated version onto the phone?
Any help that anyone can offer is greatly appreciated!

P.S. The only major change that has been made to the phone recently was I purchased a new extended battery about a month back. It's been working great since I broke it in, and have no so much as flashed a new rom image since I got it. It's the Trexcell Motorola Photon 3570mah Extended Battery.
Well I decided to bite the bullet and do a full re-lock and stock re-flash and I now have gotten my signal back.
Still have no idea why it happened to begin with, but I have apparently solved my issue.
If anyone can give me a reason this might have happened then at least this topic can be of future use to someone else.

This happened to me once while on cm7, again, for no apparent reason. After being baffled for an hour i got pissed and went to bed thinking my radio died. Signal was back by morning. Id be willing to bet yours would have come back too. Pawn it off as a hiccup and keep flashin stuffs.

my phone is constantly getting stuck in airplane mode without me switching it. possible i might have messed with a setting. it does it after times of no use. simple fix is to reset and its back to normal. wondering if anyone else has same problem and a permanent fix. this happened about 5 times since receiving it yesterday afternoon.

back at my house last night and this morning doing it again. im thinking im losing signal and when it comes back on not connect to 4g signal. i have had signal issues in the past with other phones guess this should be so diffrent. and the work around continues.
ok so back to work today. great signal area and still happening. going to see if CS samsung or ATT has anything to help me otherwise i'm returning it.
so sad it is a beauty of a device. i read other devices doing this just no one here yet with this problem. someone saying a file maybe corrupt. a stock reset was done to no avail either.
? is ATT going to give me the run around or should i take it in locked and let them fiddle?
Ive searched the forums, googled, factory reset, messed about with *#0011# power save, rebooted/forgot router and I'm STILL having issues with the wifi dropping and reconnecting periodically (maybe once every 10/20 mins?) . Im on BLG8 which is as far as i can tell the latest firmware (im not rooted) for the UK.
Has anyone got a solution to this? The main reason is I use Skype a lot and the call will just drop (obviously) with the wifi drop outs.
No other device has issues with my wifi router.
Any help would be much appreciated

Does it make any difference how far you are from the router? Does it always connect fine initially?
I'm having the same issue and i've tried every fix that has been suggested. I dont understand after spending the amount of money i did on this phone that i have to run through the dialer to get it to work properly sometimes. Then other times it still drops out and wont come back on for 5 to 10 minutes. I've changed roms, kernels, and wiped completely i dont know how many times and went back to stock. Still works sometimes and hangs up others. There doesn't seem to be a permanent fix for people lucky enough to have this issue still. My 30 day return is way up and gone so i cant send it back. Samsung cant seem to give me an answer. I'm at a loss for words.

My 30 days was up, it's still been replaced under warranty. I took it to CPW who sent it away, it came back 'fixed' so I asked them to log into their WiFi... of course, they couldn't and the guy said he would order me a new phone but it would need to come from Samsung. My new one has blazing fast WiFi!
i have the same problem. i was hoping a new rom would fix it, but FWIR its busted. i get 2 bars MAX no matter how far i am from teh router. its fast enough, but it drops out constantly.
also my screen is sometimes slow to turn on from sleep.
im on vodaphone if that makes any difference.
Guys... I had a very similar problem with my phone.
First of all WiFi became very unreliable.. like yours. I changed ROM and it still persisted. I even went completely back to stock.. and it still persisted. Dropping out.. no reliable connection etc etc.
Then it started being really weird.. the touchscreen started responding intermittently. Sometimes I couldn't get it to unlock. And this was all on stock.. no root etc.
I was ready to send it back to be repaired.. and I came to the conclusion that there must be something staying the same.. even after a wipe / reflash. Maybe one of the other partitions was corrupt???
Now I'm not clever enough to investigate.. but I did come to the conclusion that a repartition may wipe everything and make it a real fresh install next time.
So I found an appropriate .pit file and stock ROM and used Odin to flash the ROM and partition the phone.
And it is now all fully functioning again.. no WiFi issues at all.
RTFM THO FFS! Potential for complete brick if you get it wrong

It seems to have improved with the latest JB leak, still every now and then but certainly better - i did a full factory reset + cache wipe in stock recovery (im unrooted etc). Still, would a modified kernel/modem fix this very common issue?

OK so really weird update: my screen unlock is still a bit slow, but my wifi hasnt dropped for a few hours. i went through all the vodafone crap and updated/ran/configured it all, and now it seems fine. seemed vodafone wanted to verify my phone+sim details but couldnt over the wifi so kept trying to do it over the 3g, but couldnt do it quickly enough so the wifi cut it back out again. I have a headphone amplifier that is very sensitive to mobile phone signals. it beeps 4 seconds before i get a message or phonecall, and "ticked" at me whenever my wifi dropped out. its not ticked in hours.
TL;DR anyone on vodafone, run your "my vodafone" application and configure it all. might fix it.
Mine drops wireless a lot when connected to wireless A networks. It seems stable on wireless N networks. Anyone else notice A networks to be worse?

My Verizon XT912 has done some strange things over the last few days. Firstly, when we went in to upgrade another phone, my service was interrupted about every 10 seconds or so, switching between 4g to 3g to no service and the only way to get it back was to restart the phone. Even then, the phone would only get signal for a few minutes, ultimately resulting in no service. Now, even on the stock rom, will not display a signal in an area where all of our other phones display full 4g signal (I have the triangle outline with the crossed circle) and the phone restarts when any app is selected, or even when left alone. I personally think something failed on the motherboard. What do you think?
I have the same phone and am having the same problem. I am pretty damn good with phones and have had a long time to mess with this one so know it pretty well. I have had this problem before and was able to fix it using RSD although I had to try many times. I tried a ton of different things and in the end have no idea what fixed it. I highly doubt it is a hardware problem, as when I fixed it the first time the phone was much faster than it had been in a long time. I am convinced it has to do with roms/partitions and the way the stock rom is flashed to it through fastboot. Right now I am once again for the 4th time stuck with this problem and when/if I come up with a better answer for you and other people I will make a thread with all the details I have about this specific problem and how to fix it because there are a lot. One thing I know is that anytime I have had this problem SU of any kind had serious issues, no matter what app (Superuser/SuperSU), or rom, or slot I was using, hence the theory it isn't inherently hardware related... that and the fact that I fixed it twice months ago, a couple days ago, and am stuck on it now. I hope to have some more info for you and everyone else on this soon as I haven't been able to find ANYTHING related to this so far after many many many hours of searching. If you or anyone else has anymore info on this or that might in some way help with this please post it here. I will be watching this thread for a while.
