[Q] Wifi location working yet in CM9? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Can anyone tell me if the wifi location software is working in any of the CM9 roms? It's working for me in CM7 but not in CM9. i.e. Google maps, Four Square, etc know my location based on wifi only. Wondering if it is user error on my part. Thanks!

Strange, isn't it? I can'y get it to work either. Just running .04. I'm going to stay with CM7 and play with 9 internal.

[Q] How to get current location?

Sorry if many already asked.
Soon after I received the gTab, I flashed the ROM to TnT 4.4, but just like stock ROM, can"t find my location in any apps, is there any other ways? like using USB/BT external GPS?
Also, does it happen to you that to turn the BT on makes your WIFI off? like they can't work together?

Vegan Ginger supports the network-based my location feature, so that's an option.
As far as bluetooth GPS, do a search. There are a number of threads about it, but the short answer is yes: it's pretty easy and works well. Combined with CoPilot (needed since you won't have data connection on the road), the Gtablet can become a really large GPS.
Thanks, newest Vegan Ginger loaded, works great!

[Q] Cm9 location services

am having problems with my location services on Cm9. 04.. I have made it so it will use my wireless network. The it however is not working.. Is there a fix and is anyone else having this problem?
We aren't the only ones. No fix I know.
Bill
I thought it was a kernel problem until I tried Keithn's AOKP. I guess something just isn't working in that ROM. You can try Keithn's AOKP if you want working location services.
Thanks, I guess it will be working when the ICS kernal version comes out. I am usinf CM7 as daily for now.

GPS Issues on CM9 and CM10

GPS has not worked on my phone in any build of Cyanogenmod 9 or 10. I am currently using Paranoid Android based on CM10 right now. I do not have Google's location services enabled if it makes any difference. I know GPS is not listed as an issue with these ROMs. Does anyone know a solution? Thanks in advance!

Running Epinter's unofficial CM10 without problems now. However, a week or so ago I was having problems with GPS taking way too long to lock (2+ mins). I installed FasterGPS from the Play Store (requires root) and restarted my phone. This seemed to have solved my issue.
How long did you wait before concluding GPS wasn't working?

I rarely used the GPS on the Atrix and realized something was wrong after it not working for the 3rd time or so. I believe using a GPS information app fixed it by forcing a download of the A-GPS data. I moved on to another device but I believe that was a temporary fix. Even then, the GPS was rather inaccurate.
Confirmed that fastergps works wonders. Great app.

on CM7 now, no lock.
i've tried diff apps in store no luck.
diff radios no luck.

[Q] How to fix GPS on CM10 stable for Galaxy S3 (Sprint)?

I have been using CM for years, first on the Evo 4G and now on the GS3. Ever since I can remember, I've had issues with GPS on CM. In the Evo days, I always remember flashing a GPS fix (or doing a CLR fix after flashing in from a Sense ROM). Now, with the GS3, I continue to have challenges with GPS on CM. When I had the M builds, I had decent performance with GPS and could get the navigation to lock - as well as maps finding my location. Ever since I went to the CM10 stable build, the navigation just sticks on "waiting for location" and the maps cannot find my location. Super frustrating. I even switched over to AOKP for the time being as the GPS seems to be working great (as well as most of the other features).
I am still itching to get back to CM though...
Here are my questions:
1. Is there a flashable fix for the GPS problem in CM10 on the GS3?
2. I've seen that a few people flashed into ICS, locked nav, and then flashed back to CM - does this work? if so, after doing this, can I re-flash a backup or do I have to wipe clean first?
3. Even if one of the two fixes above works, will I still have sub-par performance with GPS?
Thanks in advance.
Not my answer, rochers from androidforums:
took me quite some time to figure this one out, thought i should post it here in case anyone else has a similar problem.
When i updated to android 4.1.2, i noticed that my google navigation stopped working. It would simply sit there endlessly "waiting for location..." fortunately, there's a simple fix:
1. Go to "settings > accounts > google > location settings".
2. Flip the switch to "on" (i found this was off in my case).
3. Try google navigation again, it should work fine.
I'm not sure why google decided to break up the location settings into two different places like this, but it's a bit silly imo as it's definitely going to catch some people out.
Found this solution on xda, cant post link, but this works.

[Q] GPS on Dubbsy rom not working

I've been on Pure.V5.4.1 since it was uploaded. For the last 4 days (at least), Maps/Navigation hasn't worked at all. I get an hourglass and then 'No Network Connection' (or whatever the message is) or if I'm on the map itself it just never fills in - a blue screen. I do have network - either WiFi or LTE (I can run chrome and do a search, etc), but Maps never connects. Clearing the Maps data/cache didn't help. I the past I needed to do that when installing one of your roms so that it would ask me for the basic permissions again.
Any ideas? I must have Maps!
Peter
The GPS issues across the board with this device are strange. I'll have to sit down and figure it out one of these days.
Basically, the arguably weird fix for any and all GPS issues is boot into a TW ROM(backup your current install) get a GPS fix in TW. Then restore your desired ROM.
It seems really weird to me because I don't see why GPS configurations would get messed up randomly and by only non-TW ROMs.

"No Network Connection" in Google Maps
I have the same problem with the new version of Maps only if I start the Navigation app first.
If you open the Maps app first, then start navigation through there, it locks on and searching for a destination works without error.

I tried that before posting, with no luck. However, following Dubbsy's suggestion to flash a TW rom, get Maps working and then re-flash v5.6 worked perfectly!
Peter
i have weird issues with it as well(paranoid android) the newest build (396) fixes it but breaks just about everything else lol, ill have to try this tw fix
