Settings > mobile networks > roaming > sprint only
Thanks didn't realize that was a menu also. I thought it was only a switch. On or off.

For the uninitiated why would turning roaming to sprint only be beneficial? All roaming data costs me the same, right?

If you are rooted you can buy roam control and get a widget to do this.... It's not on the android market.
Sometimes I like to force sprint only even though the roam signal is stronger sprint data is faster than roaming data. I'm done playing with prls. They already killed one of my lines. This one was supposed to be shut off but I keep paying them and they keep me turned on. Even upgraded me to the LTE! Hahaha.

Will I gain battery by disabling 4G on my phone? I'm in a 3G only area, and I'm not sure if its constantly polling for LTE. I'm using the logic of phones smoking a battery in a spotty coverage area. Thoughts?

So far I think there have only been positive reports for battery life for people who only have 3G coverage.
Some people on the 4G fringe needed to be able to turn 4G off because their phones were trying to pull the 4G signal, destroying their battery life. I am in a 4G area and don't notice any difference forcing 3G.

theres a free app called LTE OnOff. set it to cdma auto prl.
CM7 - Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > CDMA/EvDo auto
Sense Roms - Download https://market.android.com/details?id=net.andirc.lteonfoff

the Foxfi app allows wireless tethering without routing, works great
lol... i think ur late to the party... but thanks anyways
Clockwork Mod tether works without root as well. I used CWM tether first hand, and works great

I figure I could have been lol

Why is anyone concerned about tethering off the sprint 2g network anyways. Just saying anything you tether to will be pointless can't stream video media on sprint data is to slow.. Unless you just aim to use the Net..

Where do I check "unknown sources" and "USB debugger". I can't find them on this phone.
Tethering a tablet without data for gps in your car. Letting your psp/vita/ipod touch/laptop get connection. You decide. They are all viable reasons to tether 3g.

Go into your PHONES SETTINGS, on mine I go into SECURITY to check the "UNKNOWN SOURCES & then I go into the DEVELOPER OPTIONS to check the "DEBUGGING"

Not true cuz FoxFi works gr8 4 me & I watch videos on my laptop. The 3G on this fone is BETTER than the 3G on older phones because our 3G works like the 4G on the OG Evo

Is there a way to modify the wifi and mobile network polling rates? My phone dies like a dog at work due to no reception.
Thanks

Wi-Fi scan is a tweak in build.prop. There is a app called .prop tweaker or editor I believe.
Idk about network though

Whenever I'm in a poor signal area I just turn off mobile data and wifi. That way you don't have to worry about your radio constantly searching for better signals when your not even using it.

Yea just turn off data and WiFi. I saved HUGE amounts of battery doing that in bad signal area

I just turn my phone off completely. Great battery life, and I never have to worry about it searching for signal. Bonus: with all the new kernels popping up, when my phone is turned off it sleeps like a sloth.
Try it out!
Appreciate the replies but i use offline apps all day so i can't power down.
Anyone else know?

No idea but. Does it do it on aosp roms also? Thought it might be the sprint connection DE-optimizer.
I hardly ever see LTE on aosp. I seen it a good bit on sense though.

Sense or aosp. Doesn't matter it connects for 1 min the boots me off
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
yikes
Htc's crappy evo lte radios combined with sprints turdish network. Throw in sprints connection de-optimizer. What a trio!
I don't know if this will help but I am running a cm 10.1 rom and if I set my data to LTE only i transfer data fine. However I can not receive phone calls.
