Hey Everyone,
A few quick Q's with regards to GNSS on the S3 i would really appreciate some answers.
1 - I've noticed from the ifixit teardown that the S3 uses that same GNSS chip as the galaxy note. On the Galaxy note, while the accuracy was quite good, the accuracy reported in apps could only be a multiple of 5 meaning that accuracy could never be better that 5m. Is this true in the S3, if so is there a way to get around this?
2 - Does the S3 use both GPS and GLONASS at the same time, or does it just use GLONASS when GPS is bad?
3 - In general how good is the gps? If you have the time, could you post some GPS test screens, please?
Cheers

I didn't think there was a battery with NFC for the S2. Can you link to a product page or something?

i bought it from a korean website i can t remember which one but there s near field communication writing on it!
There is currently no way to activate NFC on the i9100 - the battery may have the antenna but without the controller (which I'm pretty sure is in the phone itself), it's pretty useless. Sorry
Hello and nice to meet you in XDA , my first post in this forum!
The following picture says it all:

It describes a pingtest I made between my brand new s6 edge and my old vodafone 785. The vodafone one has stable and low pings but the s6 not. Both devices didn't had any internet activity during the test nor my internet-wifi had any traffic in general.
Funny thing is that once I had an s3 mini and it also had this high ping and jitter (unstable or flunctuating ping) , so I am afraid that is it a samsung issue? Is wifi receiver bad? Note that I didn't notice any jitter when I tested my s6 edge with 3G/4G connection.
However , when I tried teamspeak 3 ( I also noticed the higher ping and jitter there too) I didn't had any problems with voice quality and loss , it was all fine , instead of s3 mini , which was horrible (it had voice packet loss plus ping jitter).
Can somebody help or post any fix about this?
Thank you in advance!
Hi all,
Looking at picking up a Redmi 5 Plus but have seen some reports of poor GPS performance. Is this still true. Anyone having troubles or is it a non issue?
Anyone? After three lousy Samsung* GPS phones in the family, a poor GPS is a first class dealbreaker.
(looking for the Global Version of the Note 5)
* Samsung S5 mini, both (yes, both) are lousy, as is the A3 2016. My S4 from 2014 or so is magnitudes better (but will no longer work together with maps) rendering navigating hardly possible with all our phones...

You should try getting root access with magisk and give a try to the module called Global Optimized GPS File Replacer and follow its instructions for getting it to work flawlessly. Good luck.
Hi,
I have an Xcover 3 and still the GPS displays wrong date (1999...)
I also did some tests with an "ancient" xperia mini (model 2011) and also with a spare BB10 both were tested with the gpsstat apk,. The GPS date is correct on both of them in contrast to the Xcover....
Is there any GPS diagnostic that resets or something like this, or the Samsung just used a crap GPS chip on that model.
TIA

Hello dear XDA peeps xD
I was a proud owner of Sony Z3C, but it's touchscreen and audio jack died, so after some research I switched to Note 5 Whyred.
I enjoy amateur photography - I read that the sensors in this phone are good, and I think they are yet I can't control shutter speed?
I plan on unlocking the bootloader in about 7 days, so I wanted to prepare in the meantime.
So my main question(s) would be : Is there a good rom for light use that benefits multimedia such as photography/video recording, while retaining or improving battery life? I am not a gamer anymore xD And is there any app/rom/anything that can help me with advanced camera controls (I plan on enabling Camera2API, but I would like shutter speed control and exposure time).
Thanks in advance.
