Wifi toggles won't work on resurrection remix pro - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am currently running resurrection remix ROM 9.7 on my S2 on stock kernel XLPJ. It runs great and is quite stable apart from two very minor issues.
I decided however to give the new resurrection remix pro 2.1ROM a try seeing as it has rom control and looks to be even more stable.
I loaded the zip onto the root of my SD card and went into cwm. I wiped the data, cleared the cache and wiped the dalvik cache.
After installing the ROM I was ruining ics siyah kernel 3.2.6 and all was working except for wifi toggles. No matter how I tried wifi would not turn on and all toggles were greyed out.
I've tried reinstalling several times with different sources of the ROM and even earlier versions with no change. google only throws up one result on xda with the same issue but no real answers. I've looked through the threads for the ROM and the kernel and although similar questions have been asked there hasn't been many answers. I'm currently restored to my old ROM but I'd appreciate any ideas to get this new one working.
Thanks

update to latest siyah or try different kernel, fluxi is battery friendly kernel and wifi toggle is working fine, click in my sig,

Seems like you didnt follow the steps listed in the FAQ as it looks like you have wiped dalvik cache prior to installation and I dont see that you have run fix permissions after installation.
Here are the correct steps:
-Reboot into recovery
-Wipe Data / Factory Reset
-Wipe Cache Partition
-Install the Main ROM
In recovery go to Advanced
-Wipe Dalvik Cache
-Fix Permissions
-Wipe Cache Partition
-Reboot
-If at the first boot you can't do the configuration of the google account, skip this step and continue
-When you boot into the system, it's probably that you don't have data enabled (3g, H+) just reboot
-When you boot again into the system the data will be enable and you can do the configuration of Google Account (if you don't do this before)
-This is the moment for install all the extras like themes, fix's, kernels, etc.
Also the Siyah Kernel version used seems to have some issues related to WIFI. the 2.1 upgrade comes with a higher version which doesn't have the WIFI issue. You can even go higher on Siyah Kernel using the following link:
http://gokhanmoral.com/

Thanks. I'll try that later. I did try updating siyah too after but not in that order so it didn't help.

siyahKernel SGS3 V3.2.7.2 or v3.3.1 can have wifi problems
kroz46,
Your suggestion to use Fluxi XX.01 solves my wifi problem instantly.
I've concluded that Fluxi XX.01 doesn't have strong dependencies on cached information.
I've re-did the steps mentioned by fxa5209 and wifi works perfectly with SiyahKernel V3.2 or V3.3
I must have missed a step explained by fxa5209. ( Human error ! )
With my Samsung Galaxy S2, if you follow Fxa5209 steps, the wifi works for me now.

Wifi toggle issue not solved
My Wifi toggle is still not working.
It stays greyed out, stuckbetween on and off state.
I tried several Siyah kernels, (3.3.1, 3.2.1., 3.1.1) and all the Fluxi kernels.
Wiped all my caches and partitions, even ran a kernel cleanup script. but nothing helps...
I'm currently running WamanLite.Stock.XWLPF
this error showed up last week, all of a sudden, was not even upgrading my phone, was already running rooted ICS (forgot the version number)
Any tips or help is welcome.
Thank you

I'm also having this issue, I can't toggle the wifi. I'm going to try a different kernel once I work out how to change that and I'll report back if I get it working or not.

Sorry but I think you misunderstand. In the actual menu for wifi to toggle between ON and OFF I can't select ON as it automatically toggles back to OFF. I don't know how to get around this and it's a real shame.

Just to let you know guys that I kinda did it all not following the procedure and wifi was not working for me either.
I just did the procedure FROM ADVANCED forward, NOT from the beginning and the wifi NOW WORKS.

Strange Home Key and Lock Screen Bug!! Any Help Appreciated

I recently updated to the most recent version of paranoid android with a clean install (full wipe) and I'm experiencing multiple bugs. There's no lock screen when I turn the screen on and the home key doesn't work at all, apart from waking the phone up (can't exit apps with it or long press for recent apps). I'm receiving no notifications in my task bar and no incoming call alerts, although the notifications and calls are working in the background. Plus the stock browser won't start up.
The strangest thing is ...after returning to stock sammy rom all these bugs are gone but when I flash cm10 or aokp based rom back, all these same bugs come back regardless of what kernel I use (latest siyah or cm10 kernel).
All system settings are unchanged from default values so these bugs aren't setting related. I've done multiple full wipes with totally clean installs but, I'm still greeted with these bugs upon booting. Does anyone have the slightest idea why I'm plagued by these issues ...the phone is pretty unusable at the moment with these problems. No home key means so many extra taps on the screen and a lot of extra time wasted and I'm missing all my calls and texts because of no notifications. Please if anyone knows how to fix this ....it'll be much appreciated!!
Bumping cause I'm kinda desperate for some help.
Has no one experienced this kind of behaviour on their GSII? I'm really at a loss as to how to fix this. I've been flashing roms on my GSII for over a year now and never heard or seen anything like this before. I really can't face going back to sammy rom which seems to be the only thing to fix this.
please list all the steps you took when you flashed CM10/paranoid
Hi and thanks for the reply. All the relevent steps I took in CWM were
1 Wiped data/Factory Reset
2 Wiped Cache
3 Wiped Dalvik Cache
4 Ran a kernel cleaning script
5 Installed PA v2.17
6 Installed gaps
7 Fixed permissions
It's just really weird how these bugs are happening on both aokp (official) and PA, so it's obviously nothing to do with the roms. Just can't figure out what the problem is at all. I'm going to try the Super Nexus rom soon to see if that's any different.

Hi ...I tried the procedure exactly as you instructed but the problem persist. However ...a couple of times during the procedure I saw that cwm was having problems mounting the sdcard. "fail mounting sdcard" I think. I'm not sure whether its referring to internal or external. I don't have an external inserted at the moment anyhow. If it refers to internal sd then maybe the answer to my problem can be found there?

That was the cause of the problem.
you need to first flash either Custom Stock based ICS Rom via CWM recovery, or flash an unmodified Stock firmware via Odin before flashing an Aosp ICS or Jelly bean ROM.
So please flash stock ICS firmware now.
Problem solved.

OK will download ICS Stock rom right away ....thanks alot for your help and patience. Guys like you really make the difference in this community, I really can't thank you enough. I'll report back as soon as I'm done.
No luck thus far ...I installed NeatRomLight on which the problems weren't present but as soon as I flashed back to PA the problems were back. I tried with the same instructions you gave in the earlier post with reboot of recovery and such. This really is a strange one. What confuses me most is the fact that everything works fine with stock sammy or modded sammy but, thats the last thing I want to go back to after using aosp/cm based roms for the last 6 months.
Maybe if I download stock unmodified rom eh? Well it can't hurt to try anyways.
Were you trying to install the latest version of PA on siyah? That doesn't work. Right now PA 2.17 and above will only run on the CM10 kernel..same goes for latest pure aokp builds I think.
If you want to stick to siyah and PA, download PA 2.16. It should work.

[Q] Wifi not working

Solved
Hello everyone
Since a few days ago my S2's Wifi is not working
h.ttp://i.imgur.com/ojDOm.png
The icon stays like this, pressing it does nothing. it happened 3 - 4 times before, usually, I'd just reboot it and that would do the trick (I google'd a bit and saw this is a common glitch when trying to turn wifi on), but not anymore, it refuses to turn on no matter what I do, rebooting, shutting down and restarting, it's stuck.
h.ttp://i.imgur.com/KeMxb.png
I can't Scan, add a network nor switch the toggle on/off because pressing them does nothing, So... I thought I should do backup and factory reset it, nope. still stuck.
What's wrong with it? Any ideas? The phone is a year old, running 4.0.3 Stock
Sorry about the dots in the URL's, can't post links yet.
Edit: Forgot to mention it started doing this since I got ICS, maybe I should try flashing it to see if that fixes it, I'm kinda reluctant though, since the factory reset didn't seem to do anything and I haven't done it before.

Do the steps below
- Boot to CWM recovery
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
- fix permissions (under advanced)
- reboot system now
The above steps will not make you lose some files and data
If that does not help, then flash another kernel
Since putting a custom kernel on my phone my bluetooth does exactly the same as what your wife is doing. Only way to turn it on is to reboot the phone whilst it is trying to turn on (ie whilst it is a shade of green)

you should be Ok its relativley straight forward
Well, Flashed in CWM Recovery and CM9, wiped cache, Dalvik cache and fixed permissions but the wifi is still not working... it's still stuck at "Turning Wi-Fi on"
I really have no idea about kernels and that stuff, I don't know how to flash 'em (unless it's the same as flashing CWM) or which one to get at all, since theres too many and I don't know what they do/know if they're compatible.
Flashing kernels are the same as flashing ROMs and modems..
There are 2 ways to flash kernels.. 1 is via odin (.tar file) and 2 is via CWM (.zip file)
Now, if your ROM is on JB then use a JB Kernel
If ICS = ICS Kernel
AOKP = AOKP Kernel
AOSP = AOSP Kernel
The thing with kernel is that you have to match it with the ROM's base..

Hm...Checked my phone 7 hours after flashing CM9 on it and suddenly the Wifi's back on
Any explanation for this? It doesn't make any sense, I didn't even touch the phone during that time and it fixed itself?
Edit: Thanks for clarifying that up saywhatt, since I already flashed if and thus, voided the warranty I might as well go ahead and try flashing a kernel to improve battery life and get into the scene.

Perhaps the ROM was "settling"? Lol i dunno.. but i'm glad to hear you got it sorted out. You can revert back to complete stock if you have some serious problems and it is needed to be sent to the service center..
1 download triangle away to clear the binary count
2 flash stock firmware

[Q] S II does only run on MIUI (not on stock or CM roms)

First of all: I have had my S II water damaged some months ago. It works fine that far (exept that the sensor keys are dead). Not sure if there is some other hardware malfunctioning...
Currently im running on MIUI and everything is fine, but recently I found out that no other ROM will work on my Phone:
- Samsung stock ROM runs extreme (!) laggy. Took me about 5 Minutes to go through the menus and enable USB debugging.
- CM9/ AOKP will reset immediately after system startup
- CM10 shows laggy boot animation for few secs, then bootloops
Only other ROM that works is "cMIUI". Which is a CM10 based ROM only with a MIUI userinterface...
What can I do to find out whats the problem with my phone??
Thats weird. Have you tried wiping data before flashing each of these ROMs? Next time, try formatting /system, /data, cache and dalvik cache. Also, have you tried using those kernel cleaning scripts, etc?

Only one option I can think of is to go back to stock samsung rom then claim your warranty if you have it. Or, make a logcat and paste it here (upload to Dropbox or somewhere then past a link over here) and someone experienced might take a look.
Since you've already wiped everything, I'm more inclined to think that it's a hardware problem now. However, let's hope someone more experienced pops in and helps. Good luck

See two logs below, trying to boot cm9. One with default kernel, one with Siyah. Would be great if anybody could find out whats the issue.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/z7q3wbz1h9uhhvg/logcat_cm9_s2.txt
https://www.dropbox.com/s/r1l9umovmxx7jpo/logcat_cm9_s2_siyah.txt
In both logs the phone booted and showed the Pin dialog, then after few seconds rebooted.
As the Phone had been waterdamaged Im pretty shure warranty is absolutely void Also I think that the problems are due to some Hardware malfunctioning. Just want to know what and if theres some way to workaround.

Problems with WiFi

I've been flashing ROMs for a few months now, and it's all gone relatively fine up till now. Yesterday I flashed the alpha 2.0 of Cyanogenmod 9 for our Desire X and like expected the WiFi didn't work. I then decided to go back to the deodexed stock ROM and flashed the stock recovery, and then wiped cache, data, dalvik etc. Before flashing the stock ROM.
I then went through set up to find that I didn't get prompted to set up WiFi and when I went into settings WiFi said 'Turning on...' but the toggle was greyed out. Anybody have any clue what may have gone wrong?
Cheers

[Q] Weird issues Cm11 / Stock

Hi there,
My SIII i9300 has been rooted and flashed with CM from CM 10.x to 11.x. Hoewever, recently it started to not give any audio during voice calls trough the normal mic. Speakers do work.
So, i've tried reflashing, clearing cache / dalvik etc. To no avail.
I then tried stock rom and for some reason this seems to do the trick.
As i'm not really a great fan of the Samsung bloatware and the 'awesome' skin overlay of samsung i would like to fix this issue.
I also tried some different roms to no avail. ( Also, i installed cm 10.2 because that used to be working fine)
I then tried installing different modems via CWM and ODIN. (BUELK1) and (CEEL1). It's a dutch phone on vodafone.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Btw, currently i'm running CM 11 nightly see below. Android 4.4.2
My baceband is currently i9300CEELL1
Kernel version 3.0.64-CM-gb1c5066
CM 11-20140228
greetinges, Volc
Try installing the ROM before wiping everything, including System ( data is recommended, as long as you don't have something important not backed up). And with 4.4 try to use MK6 modem or higher.

I thought you found the modems on www.boeffla-kernel.de . You can find them in the Download section. Also, if you are on CM11 (or any other ROM actually), you should download the ROM tog want to flash on your external SD Card, reboot into recovery, wipe system, cache, dalvik cache and data, flash the ROM, reboot system and use it for a few moments at least ( I would recommend you do that so that you won't get bootloop). Then, reboot into download mode, connect phone to Odin and flash the ROM. I would recommend wipe shading cache and dalvik cache, just for a flawless experience.

I saw this phone firsthand. (Hi volcomoo!)
The roms were flashed OK, double triple quadruple wiping probably wont make any difference.
The weird thing is that with CM installed there seems to be a hardware issue, when we flash the phone back to stock, everything works. I guess the developers will say "logcat or it didn't happen"....
