Funny. I was thinking the opposite. When you plug the phone into a computer and select the disk option on the phone, does the computer see the phone as any other USB drive (no special drivers needed)?
That would be the issue. If no drivers are needed, you could partition the sd card and use one of those bootable USB programs to try to make it bootable. Then plug in the phone, select disk option, reboot.
Of course, I'm just speculating and could be way off base.

Try a new USB cable I used a PSP USB cable for a while when my HTC hero USB cable stopped working properly. Just find some more USB cables and test them all.

You probably damaged the USB controller with ESD. You can try another USB port, but it's likely that all the ports are damaged (at least all the ports on that controller). Check the other ports on the PC. Most modern PCs have at least a couple of USB hubs built in. It is possible that a port on another hub or controller may work. Otherwise, you might be able to use a USB add in card in the computer if all the built-in ports are dead. They are relatively cheap if you have the slot in the machine to install one.

mount to PC is a known issue methinks. What is your current setup? Rom/kernel? and how are your settings? USB debugging set on/off? auto connect set to "ask on connection"?

Its common with the 2.2.1 roms. What you need to do is replace the vold.conf, and the vold.fstab files in system/ect. I have attached the ones you need. Just use root explorer and drop them in the ect folder, reboot, and test.

you should download toolbox from development section and the first option is to install drivers. once u run the program. install it and then test the usb cables. by the way i never charge my phone from a computer i like separate chargers so im using the charger for BB to charge my battery. its quicker as well.

Boston represent!!! Dorchester here. Its fool proof really. Just make sure you change the system to read/write in root explorer, and drop the files in the system/ect folder.

I just bought the Amaze today, and when I went to connect it to my PC to transfer music, videos, etc., nothing happened. I selected the disk drive connection type, and it still does not show up in My Computer. (I also have tried multiple USB ports).
It works on other computers, so I am guessing it is a computer issue, and if so, is there any ways I can fix it?
Any ideas..?
Have you tried to open it manually... Start>Computer and find the 2 that reads HTC Storage and Removable Storage.

I went to my computer and those do not show up. All that is there is the C drive, Local Disk (Q, the DVD drive, and BD Rom drives. No phone.
You have to install the HTC drivers first if you haven't done that yet.
Have you tried installing the drivers...

I also like using wifi to transfer things. Always worked well for me. I use wondershare go mobile. Download the app in the market and the file on the PC. Works great!

It's a PC, Windows 7. I dl'd htc sync and googled htc drivers then dl'd that. When i plug in a usb cable then go to my computer it doesnt show anything. HTC sync also says no device found.
My experience with HTC sync is.....it sucks. But you don't see any extra storage in computer section? don't get a prompt on your phone to activate disc storage either?

hello guys.
i have Amaze for months and had no problems, but for now, i'm pissed off.
my phone doesn't mount Disk drive.
i mean, when i plug it on usb, there is an error pop-up saying "Usb Device Isn't Recognized" and it starts to charge.
i tried 3 different cables, did a full wipe, changed rom, kernel, but still no luck.
i'm running latest Energy rom w/ faux's kernel, S-OFF-ed, rooted, 4Ext recovery.
any ideas?
Might try a card reader. If it reads ok, backup all the contents then format the card. ( fat 32 I think) better check.
Just an idea.

i'm confused

Help Needed
guys, it drives me crazy
sometimes it mounts without problem, but mainly, it suck my blood from veins.
i tried 4 different cable, 5 different rom and many PC's, but same result.
what should i do? how can i discover, if that's hardware issue?
I can't be only one -_-
Hello All,
Here it is, charges fine, but will not connect as a storage device or for adb, etc. What ive tried...
3 different cables, 1 of which is HTC
3 Different computers (2x Win8, 1x Win7) - 1 of each which had never had phone plugged in
Many different roms
USB Debug is On
Ive installed various drivers, uninstalled various software, cannot get it to behave.
Sometimes the USB icon is in my status bar when im not plugged in, sometimes when im plugged in the icon doesnt appear.
When it does selecting htc sync or disk drive seem to have no effect.
NOTHING in device manager, no unknown, no other, no android device...not a thing to show its connected other then the LED light on the phone.
Im beginning to wonder if its my phone. I was s-off via lazy panda. I have since used Viper's RUU but by taking the rom.zip and renaming it PJ75IMG.zip and loading that from bootloader. Seems to have flashed stock although i still show s-off but locked.
Any help would be great

I had, wont mount from twrp or from bootloader. Hit mount button and nothing happens.
If u install WiFi file transfer pro from playstore then u won't need to transfer files via cable. Does wireless adb work? Haven't tried it, but it would be the only thing u need your cable for. As long as it charges right.
Just an idea so u won't necessarily have to take your phone in to be replaced. Good luck

I appreciate it, but afaik to be able to root it ill need to be able to directly connect it. Plus it should just work. It used to but hasnt for a while. I thought maybe it was just my ROM but im beginning to think its a bigger issue. I have to check the best buy policy and see how they take care f it.
