[Q] (Q) loss performance after root ?! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

cheers!
yesterday i have rooted my s3 and it has loss performance. (i think)
i only installed cwm and super su. no other kernel etc.
is it possible or just imagination ?
thanks in advance.

Your imagination.

its happened to me as well ,lost performance after rooting..

It might be worth you downloading antutu from the play store and performing a full test, your results should be in the region of 12000, If not then try a hard reset.
If no ne of the above then somebody more qualified may want to step in and help

While I'm no developer I don't think having root should have ANY effect on performance. This would have been mentioned in the MANY forums for various android devices. Root simply gives you su permissions. Same thing as being an administrator on your PC.
sent from my GummyROM'd Prime

thanks. tested with antutu, result is 11940. so, i think everything is ok.
i´m not a noob in flashing and these things (flashed i9000 30-40 times) but if you spend
600 eur for a new phone, you´ll take care with these things. sorry for bad english.
thanks again to all.

[Q] Need Help: Inquiries on Xperia X10 Mini

Hi everyone, I don't know if this is the proper section to post my queries, but please bear with me.. I just registered last week.
Alright, I have some inquiries regarding the phone and all its stuff. I'm planning to buy Xperia X10 Mini and it will be the first time that I'll be using an Android-run device.
I have quite knowledge on iOS since I have an iPod Touch, so almost everything that I read here are jargons for me. I'm not that noob in terms of technical comprehension, though I don't consider myself as an advanced user, perhaps just an average hobbyist. So let me start folks.
1. I'm confused between having the X10 Mini or the X8, which is which? Any suggestions?
2. When you say "rooting" or "rooted", is it the counterpart of "jailbreaking" in iOS?
3. What will happen to my warranty if my mini is rooted?
4. Will this "rooting" thingy brick my mini? (should I failed)
5. What is xRecovery? I'm seeing a lot of those in this forum.
6. What's JiT overclock?
I'm trying to think other questions, but I guess I have to buy first that phone. So hopefully anyone can provide me advices, thanks in advance guys.
Still no replies after several days. So sad, felt like outcasted in this forum.
Sorry, but common sense would say to you to use search button just up here... On every of those questions you would find plenty of answers.
And your first question must be joke right? You couldn't even type X10 mini and X8 to google?
I am normaly not like that, but this was just too much for me And you even complain...

1. Check Settings -> About Phone -> Model Number
2. YES
3. No Idea (You could always argue an app from the market did something if you need to claim)
4. NO
5. Allows Backup/Restore options of your entire Phone memory and installation of custom roms/themes as well as more advanced features including being able to replace protected files whilst they are not being used (During boot)
6. Speeds up performance using JIT enabled files (Tried and tested)
BTW: The search or google options are indeed a good place to start for answers, I only replied because I had nothing better to do!!! LOL
Thanks for the reply. Sorry for being too lazy to do research here in this forum. Well, this is not the most organized forum that i've been to.. a lot of topics that are cluttered. Besides im new to this android stuff. Anyway...
Yow Kabayan,
1. I'm confused between having the X10 Mini or the X8, which is which? Any suggestions?
x10mini is the small black device with small screen and builtin battery, x8 is the white device which is in middle of x10 and x10mini. though its price point is way lower than x10mini.
2. When you say "rooting" or "rooted", is it the counterpart of "jailbreaking" in iOS?
its like jail breaking but without the caveat of warranty issue. since android is an open os(if I am not mistaken)
3. What will happen to my warranty if my mini is rooted?
nothing. as long as it still working. you could re-install the rom using SEUS anyway.
4. Will this "rooting" thingy brick my mini? (should I failed)
root access is granted by using installed application, which does not affect the over all usability of the phone, though ROM modification is more likely to destroy your phone than rooting it. though rooting is required before you could install custom rom.
5. What is xRecovery? I'm seeing a lot of those in this forum.
it is a boot application which enable you to recover your phone(if only you have the image before hand), or install a custom rom to your phone(which is like recovering your phone, but instead using rom from different devices or custom made by other user/developer.
6. What's JiT overclock?
it is a new dalvik implementation stuff, which is an experimental, under-development or ongoing development for application optimization/runtime, which compile the application to native machine language. means faster games and application.
overclock is different - its more of increasing your device CPU hz.
I might be wrong on some point, but that is currently how I know the android, Im using x10 mini. my first android. though rooted, jitted, link2sd, I still haven't tried custom rom.

Maraming salamat kabayan!
Actually prior to your reply, I have already rooted my mini, with APP2SD + DC2SD and xRecovery.. I haven't tried the Jit stuff though, I'll still study how to do that. It's so hard to get direct answers in this forum so most of the time, I'm doing my own research. (unlike other forums that I've been to, though it's for iOS or PSP stuff)
So you are implying that custom roms are not that safe? Did I understand it right?
By the way, can you teach me how to customize the screens? Sorry I'm just totally new to this Android world, perhaps we could just PM each other?

Vodafone 845

Good Evening,
I understood that each device has different ways to get rooted.
If that is wrong I am sorry.
Now... I have a Vodafone 845 and saw great apps on market only for rooted devices.
Normally I would like to have those.
I surfed the xda Forum and found some discuss about this device but root links are to x10 (sony ericsson I believe).
Because of my understanding that confused me.
Anyway, I am dummy in android and did`t understand a lot from those procedures.
My request is: would you guys please make a step by step guide for dummies (with simply english) like me in android?
THAT WOULD BE GREAT!
My devise characteristics are:
Vodafone 845 ( Huawei U8120 ?)
android 2.1 update 1
baseband version 2210
kernel version 2.6.29-perf
locked in Vodafone Romania.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Respectfully.
Wonderful
This is absolutely great!!!
So many advice, so many guidance!
I really can`t choose between those.
Seems that my post is written with invisible ink!

Hey bro I just saw ya post now, I too have a vodafone 845. What you must first do is root your device using superboot, and then you need to pur a custom recovery using amonra recovery. Our device is synonymous with the u8120. If you search for any roms dealing with u8120, you can use it on this device as well. You should connect the phone via usb to a win7 pc and then follow the directions on how to root etc. These directions can be found on the page that deals with Fresh Zodiac Fruit by Cedric. If you follow these directions to the letter you will have no problem rooting your device and installing a custom rom. Once you have a custom rom on, I would advise installing rom manager from the market. Once Rom manager is installed, flash Huawei Ideos 1 recover image. Then put cm7 u8120 slyking on your sd card and flash that, it is, as far as I am concerned, the best rom for this phone nowdays. When you got some experience using and flashing roms, download v6 supercharger and play around with that, you will be amazed at the results. Anyways bro, just remember vodafone 845=U8120. Once you got this, searching is easy.
THANK YOU
Thanks Bro , I just saw your reply.
Just when I lost any hope of a reply.
From your reply seems a lot of trouble to root my device.
I rooted my phone and now of course I got a bigger problem.
From the moment I bought the phone I hated the calendar,
so I tried lots of calendar apps from the market and stopped the search when
I found aCalendar which suited me excelent.
yesterday after I rooted the phone I erased the original calendar.
This morning when I tried to open the aCalendar ...surprise,
the app didn`t open and the screen shown: OnCreate|NullPointerException null şi apoi OnResume|......
I restored to factory settings and nothing ... same message.
Would you help me please with that?
Or some guru, PLEASE HELP.

[Q] [HELP] I8160 Laggy after installing XXMC8 and Rooting

Good day everyone!
Certified noob here..
I have a SGA2 here in RP, recently updated to XXMC8 and then rooted after a couple of days following advices from excellent members here in XDA.
Later on, I found my phone laggy and cannot run on games like TR2 well.
Just have a few questions to ask. Please take it easy on me, a newbie needing help guys..
1. After updating from GB to JB, my unit decreased her RAM size to 482.
a. Why is that so?
b. Can I change it back to size?
c. If not, how can I speed up my phone again?
I have removed quite a few bloatwares, frozen a couple of apps and do task killing frequently but still my phone performed slower. What do I do now?
Thanks in advance for the responses!

[Q] New ROM killed phone! :(

Hi guys Im a newbie on this site! I really need some expert advice please.
My battery had started to charge very very poorly so I decided to put a new ROM on it (to wipe everything and start fresh!
However I have put a new ROM on but now my phone is not registering on my network. I tried adding a patch but no avail.
Could anyone tell me where I can get a UK version of jellybean 4.2.1 official stock rom? I dont want a custom one as I dont faff with my phone to the max.
Any help much appreciated.
Plus ive seen quite a few battery calibration apps on play store, will deleting the battery bins file actually sort the battery life out or is it just a placebo type affect?

probably efs format is changed as you downgraded your phone. is your imei okay as well the serial number? if not, go through the link under my signature. for better battery results, root and use greenify. and moreover there is no UK version of 4.2.1 as it is just a leak!
Best advice is to read and understand the basics before you do anything, if you are lucky you might be able to recover the damage you've already caused but this isn't certain.
Getting into a flash panic will destroy your phone.

[Q] galaxy ace what to do now

hello im new to all this so if ive got it wrong please let me know
i recently had my phone stolen so due to financial restrictions ive been forced to go back to my galaxy ace i have finnaly got it rooted i think ive updated superuser via playstore and i dont know what to do next .basicly the only reason ive rooted is to increase the internal memory and possibly clock speed a little .now im not a tech minded person and havent got a clue what im doing so any help would be appreciated
thanks in advance
andy
Hello!
1. Flash TouchWiz-Resurrection ROM (in S5830i development forum) - instructions in main thread. It will revamp your phone, so you will feel it like SAMMY JB.
2. For performance, stay with stock kernel. For features use Rafael.Baugis, ThunderKernel, Cyanus, etc.
3. Configure your phone, to the best state (delete apps, that are useless for you [it's much personal thing], add useful, and move these apps to system.
4. Wipe data/factory reset again.
5. Ready!
It's way, in which I'm always going.
Best regards.
And always post questions in Q and A section..

What i did was went to play store and searched "root required". lots of stuff came up that made my phone cool. I would recommend flashing gingerkat rom, it has been really good. my battery life has increased. i used to only get a day out of it, now i am getting more than 24 hours, this is with a little bit of use during the day, this is obviously with the help of cpu tuner. not sure if i helped, if i did please hit thanks.
