ICS Leak 3.14 Revert to GB Stock? - HTC Rezound

Hey guys i'm s-off on 3.14 ICS leak. I have to return my phone for replacement device and i have searched everywhere and can't seem to figure it out. the RUU exe has never worked for me and idk what that really is.
any help is appreciated!

Get the 2.01.605.11 .zip from here
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/Rezound_Developers/wildstang83/RUU/GB/
Rename it to ph98IMG and place it on root of sd card. It would function the same as the .exe but all steps would be done on the phone itself.

i tried that but then it said "parsing ph98img" and then it just reboots back to my ICS leak
let me re-download

Dunno why the .exe version isn't working for you, what problem? Just make sure the download itself is good, drivers are good (Google and download HTC Sync) and USB debugging is turned on in the phone's settings, should be fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19756694
Grab the 2.01.605.11 RUU .zip version, rename to PH98IMG.zip, slap it on the SD card and go to the bootloader if nothing else. Then follow that S-On guide listed in the same thread. Make sure to factory reset before shipping off.
Edit: just saw previous posts, check md5 of your downloads, does sound like you're getting a bad connection to get all these errors.

Exactly.
You've to be s-off to be able to downgrade from a firmware. Downgrading radios could well brick your phone without s-off.

You have to unlock the bootloader to re run the ruu if I remember correctly. That will take you back to stock gb with s-off and lock.

I've been pretty braindead and stressed out lately, feel I've harmed more than helped on a few troubleshoots.
But I assure you 100% the bootloader will not read "locked" that way; RUUs do not affect the Locked/Relocked/Unlocked flag.
Once Unlocked, HTC Dev only toggles that message and Relocked.
To get from Unlocked after S-off to simply Locked means setting up stock, do S-on, and running through S-off procedure again.

Incorrect, once s-off you can flash everything/anything from a ph98img even with a locked bootloader. See below.

Download the ruu. Put it on the root of your sd card. Reboot into bootloader. Done.
If you were wanting to make it ready for warranty exchange, you may want to change the glaring S-Off flag back to S-On too.
Some say they get by with S-Off, some would rather not risk the rare possibility of a VZW rep or HTC actually saying your warranty is void due to tampering.

Basically, minus step two. Note that the S-off procedure toggles your bootloader to Locked too.
You should also flash a JuopunutBear hboot after S-off instead of running HTCDev Unlock again to gain your Fastboot commands functionality. Plus PH98IMG files will work on a Locked stock bootloader anyway.
*If* you unlock, then you will be flagged as "Unlocked" in the bootloader, and flagged "Relocked" after locking it back up. Both indicate tampering; warranty becomes a concern.
Only way to show the stock "Locked" flag again is to cycle back through all those steps to process the bootloader flag back inside S-off's magic.
Just sayin', no good reason to Unlock after S-off. But nobody has ever been charged for Unlocked bootloaders by Verizon or HTC either.

you DO NOT have to ruu twice. You will want an official .exe RUU

Excellent, thank you very much. Not new to flashing ROM's or anything, but with the (former) lack of S-off/the issues of going back with the updated firmware/hboot just had me concerned. Will give it a try later tonight or tomorrow and post back how it goes. Thanks again.

you have to run the same RUU twice in hboot so it can do its complete install.
He wants to get to stock so he won't be using a leaked RUU and so he will not have to run it twice.
What I'm thinkin is, if you made a backup of the stock rom before you flashed your first Rezound rom, you can just do a Restore.
Sent from my S-off HTC Rezound
That would only work if your s-off. The boot.IMG wouldn't be backed up if you weren't s_off when you made the backup.

Bail me out please

I'm S-on and running Conrom. I decided to relock and go back to stock to take the latest update.
After executing fastboot oem lock, my phone won't boot past the Hboot screen.
When I installed Conrom I temp flashed amon ra. After that my hboot said Tampered but everything worked great.
Now it says Tampered, Relocked, Security Warning.
How do I get back to the .12 OTA or Conrom for that matter?
Fastboot devices will return my serial number. Adb devices returns nothing.
Thanks!
Fastboot unlock. Or just S-Off.

Thanks LS! Unlocking got me back to Conrom. Before I set everything up again I'd like to go back to .12.
I have the files; I just need to know how to do that. I have to be locked to run the ruu and locking is what got me in trouble.
Any idea how I need to proceed?

you have to be on a stock hboot before re-locking. i would flash a stock hboot, then re-lock, and finally ruu.
EDIT: just saw you are still S-ON. I honestly forget the workarounds for being S-ON.

I *think* I'm on a stock hboot. I never purposely changed it so it should be stock unless Conrom changed it.
Let me see if I can take a picture and post it.

OK so open the ruu and follow it until it tells you to plug in your device. Don't plug it in. Open the start menu in windows and type in %temp% and hit enter and then find the most recent folder open it and find the rom.zip file. Drag that to your desktop, rename it PH98IMG.zip and place it on the root of your rezound SD card and flash in Hboot

Before you flash the PH98IMG file you'll need to lock your bootloader. This will get you to the stock OTA from last week, and you should be able to get the new OTA.

I already have the ruu on my computer. I installed it before I installed Conrom and then removed it from my sd card. I realize I need to lock my bootloader but that's where I got hung up. When I relocked, it wouldn't boot past the hboot/fastboot screen.
I don't know if it's safe to put the ruu back on my sd card, relock and reload the ruu.

I still stand by my recommendation of S-Off. Never unlock again!

I'll give it a whirl. When I locked it, that's when it gave me the security warning and wouldn't boot to the rom. It did look for the PH98IMG file which wasn't on the sd card so I'll try that again with it on the sd card. Hopefully it will load as it should.

No need to lock as flashing the RUU in bootloader will relock it for you, it will also s-on. The important part is to make sure you are on a stock hboot, which it looks like you are. If you want to go through the effort of flashing the RUU, just flash it, then you will need to unlock and s-off if you'd like

Looking to go back to 100% stock

I have started searching and am having a hard time finding exactly what I need. Anyway, I haven't used my Rezound since I got my S3 so I am not really up to speed on where the Rezound is in terms of OTA updates and whatnot. Right now my Rezound is S-Off on a engineering hboot (I believe) and rooted, but it was stock otherwise (up until I stopped using it).
I would like to get it back to 100% stock (other than S-Off, I will leave that as is for now). What is the easiest way to get there? I am assuming flashing an RUU of the latest stock build? If so, what is the latest stock build that I would get if I re-activated the phone and updated it (meaning I don't want any leaks or anything).
Also, it has been so long since I did any flashing on the phone, but what is the easiest way to flash a RUU (since I have never done that). And can I just flash the latest RUU without flashing anything else first?
Thanks, and sorry for all of the noob questions.

Thanks! Yea, I just found it on android police. I am assuming it won't wipe the SD card or anything right? Since I am S-OFF I don't have to worry about re-locking correct?
Also, will that RUU get it back to the point where someone could get the OTA's and everything as if it was 100% stock with S-ON?

Yes , running the RUU will not effect s-off status nor your bootloader locked status.
not to hijack the thread....but I have a question that relates to getting back to stock. I am running business sense, with the OTA. I would like to get the other global OTA.. I am s on. How do I go about doing that?
flash stock recovery
relock
run which RUU? the newest one is a PH file on android police
unlock
flash amon ra
flash new rom
does that sound right?
the part that I am questioning is the fact the global RUU is a PH file. But it says I have to be completly back to stock and locked.

I did s-off procedure a few months ago. it took several hours and kept failing. I used a large insulated paperclip with the insulating material removed from each end for good electrical contact.
What I had been doing wrong was not keeping the wire nice and straight in the hole. when the wire is not straight, it will not make good electrical contact with whatever is directly beneath the hole.
I just thought I'd share this tip in case it helps others.
regards,
Howard
p.s. There is no need to install the jbear modified hboot if you are uncomfortably with it. Installing the modified hboot is optional at the end of the s-off procedure. You will still have benefits of s-off with a htcdev unlocked bootloader while using a stock unlocked hboot. For example one can flash kernels via fastboot flash command with a stock hboot. s-off and jbear modified hboot are two separate modifications to the phone.

actually, on a stock, locked HBoot, you CAN'T use any fastboot commands. That's why it's highly recommended to install the JBear HBoot, plus it gives you an easy option to do it and it does it without the user having to do anything

Need to lock the boot loader before running the ruu if you're s-on.

This is the process I've used from what I've read here many times.
Place the PH98 file of the RUU on your ext SD card.
Relocking the bootloader always has started the flash process for me but if it doesn't.
Pull the battery.
Boot into bootloader.
Let the RUU flash.
Let the phone boot but don't set anything up.
Shut down the phone and pull the battery.
Reboot into bootloader again.
Flash the RUU a second time.
Boot the phone.
Delete the PH98 file off your ext SD card.
Power down and pull the battery.
Boot back into the bootloader and do a factory reset.
Reboot again and enjoy.

THANK YOU!!!! Thanks all around! I am proficient in adb and rooting and unlocking bootloaders but what ive come to realize about htc is the whole s-off/s-on crap. as soon as i relocked the bootlooader and flashed the ruu already on my sd card i was able to get booted back up. im running a s3 as my my driver and dont really have to deal with radios and hboot, but when i had my thunderbolt it really started to bring back memories. thanks for the help guys!

To run an RUU, you will need to relock or get S-Off.
If you relock, you will, of course, need to reunlock after the RUU if you want root. If you get S-Off, you will never need to unlock, relock, S-On, or S-Off again.

No. You can ignore that iirc. Someone else can chime in as well, it's been a while for me, but I remember this coming up a long time ago - it happened to me too. It's happened to many people. You just relocked so you're still going to run the RUU? Should go away after you do.
Here's a post with the answer:

you get a security warning if you are relocked but don't have the official RUU installed. So if you flashed an ICS rom and relocked, the rom would work fine but you would have a security warning because it isn't HTC's official rom.

Here's a thread about it from April:

Your phone won't boot with the security warning.. you have to run a full ruu now. Yes from hboot name it to PH98IMG and put it on your sd and boot to bootloader. It'll find it automatically and prompt you to run the update.

Yes, as famous said above. (But according to Con you should still be able to boot now. I don't remember if I ever booted with that warning, I doubt it as I was probably relocking just to run the RUU and had no need to boot up.)
I edited my post above, you must have quoted me before that showed up. Once you run the RUU the security warning should be gone, then you can unlock again and flash a custom ROM if you like.
