I was about to update to ICS & found an app on the market call root uninstall. so I messed around trying to remove 2 stupid apps that came with the device...
suddenly there is no home screen & the home button no longer works. Now I'm stuck with only settings page & that is it.
I need some help...
edit: I also tried resting the software & trying to upgrade with the <b>AIO S.onyTablet.S [ALLinONE</b> was a complete failure even before the incident.
try removing the battery

You must have accidentally deleted the launcher. Copy the launcher into /system/app/ and set its permissions to rw-r--r--.
Sony Tablet S
I am stuck at only the setting screen & nothing else appears.
Don't worry, I'm almost there trying to update to an official 4.0.3
I managed to get the All in one tool working on it.
Thanks for the advice guys
SOLVED
I managed to access it through the AIO tool & changed the region to my local & set it to update.

Dear all,
This is the first time I have use an android device, and I have search many forums with no solution. So, thanks for everyone's time in helping me out.
1) I have root the Atrix.
2) I install Bloat Freezer from the market.
3) Install GoLauncher from market.
4) I freeze the 'home' app or system process (I'm not sure what term to use) using the bloat freezer.
Everything was fine. Untill, I decided to give this phone to my sister and from the phone instruction, I need to erase everything to factory default in order to get rid of my market account (no sure if this is the only option, but that's what the phone reflect when I try to delete my account). then, I
1) go the settings > privacy and run the reset factory default.
2) Did not defrost the 'home' app.
After the phone get back to factory default, I manage to get back to the initial stage of Motoblur setup. After setting up, the funny thing comes. There is only blank screen with a notification bar and nothing else. The lockscreen still works and double tap on the home button startup browser and hold on the search button goes to voice command. So I think the phone works, but without the GUI.
My so call solution,
The bloat freezer developer is very nice to send me an apk to defrost everything I had freeze. So,
1) I need to install the apk without the GUI. ( I found a way which not sure if works, by using a software to sideload using PC.
2) Using a Update.zip to install the apk (which I seriously don't know how to do it as I am just starting to use android)
3) Any way to defrost using adb (which also requires USB debugging enable).
Problem: I can only do it with USB debugging enable. Which is impossible as the phone is freshly reset and I cannot enable the USB debugging using the phone without a GUI.
Help:
Is there anyone who knows how to enable the USB debugging without using the phone?
Or direct me to settings using any shortcuts?
Or any other solutions? Flashing the sbf is my last resort.
Hope my explanation of my problem is clear and thanks to everyone who has view this thread and try to help me or give me suggestion.
Flash a fresh sbf, instructions and files are in the dev forum, I'd give you a link if I wasn't on my phone

Thank you for your advise. I saw the thread in flashing sbf. but this is my last resort or is this my only option? I really hope not. First time using android, flashing sbf is kind of a big step for me

Unfortuanately, I reset to factory default makes the app not there anymore. So the only to defrost is the apk from the Bloatware freezer developer.
If you already did a reset and you don't have anything on the phone I would just do the sbf since you don't have anything to lose.

In the future (hopefully it won't happen again) you can log into your market account on a computer and download any old launcher. It will be pushed to your phone and from there you can then unfreeze your prefered launcher and swith back to it.

I have the same problem, only early stage.
I just rooted my phone, for the first time, installed Bloat Freezer, Froze Moto Blur HOME which has caused an error which I can’t get passed to fix and unfreeze.
The error states Sorry, the application home process has stopped working. Please try again. Force Close.
So, what is the easiest way to fix this without going too far down the rabbit hole?
That said my disgust with Moto Blur has got me this far, I’m sure it could take me further.
Thanks for your help.
I got the Huawei Ascend G510-0100 today and I really disliked the UI from Huawei so I got ADW launcher. I got titanium backup and uninstalled the original user interface/launcher. It was working well but for some stupid reason I decided to experiment and freeze the ADW launcher and then try it out. I pressed home and it showed a black screen. I factory reset my phone and there's still a black screen but I can access the google intro.
Can I restore the original rom for the phone? Please help. I don't even know where to get the original rom and if I did how do I install it?
Please this is urgent.
Thank you
I was stupid, I format the user data and when I rebooted the phone I got update notifications on the bar and from there I went through to play store and got a launcher from there.
Good to hear that you got it resolved.
Note that right now you do not have any launcher installed as a system app only a user downloaded launcher so when you will factory reset your phone the launcher will be deleted. Convert a launcher to a system app to prevent this.
But next time don't try to mess alot with system apps. Having two apps of the same kind (in your case the launchers, i.e one system launcher app and other user installed launcher) would not hurt much would they?
And also always make a backup of your system in the recovery before experimenting with anything.

Are you able to boot into Android recovery (once the phone is off, hold the power button and the volume up key at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Android on its back being open comes on acreen). You can try and factory reset the phone.
If this isn't a solution you will need to unlock the bootloader with Android toolkit. You can get the bootloader unlock code from Huawei's website.
You can flash a custom recovery like the newest TWRP for your phone and try installing a custom rom if you can't find a copy of the original rom
I received yesterday my new tablet, bought from here, Dubai, UAE. I have an issue. It doesn't shut down and restart properly. After I choose to do any of these it turns off like the battery would be plugged off. After it turns back on, the basic apps like Skype, Search, Twitter and a few others which are preinstalled automatically in the ROM they go back to its initial version and the update is erased. Its like a full reset but the account and settings are not touched. I found similar problems on the forums but they get a full reset after each restart and to solve the issue you have to root your tablet and copy the busybox file from system/xbin to system/bin. I did this but it doesnt help. Also I tried to flash a ROM from their official russian website but after it starts verifying the zip an error like
Code:
assert failed: !less_than_int getprop ro.build.date.utc
shows up, in the recovery menu. My problem is a bit different.. Its related only to the basic apps which come with the ROM and only the ones who install themselves in the data section not system. Where can I start looking for a solution and do you think these improperly shut downs are related to this? I can even uninstall these apps after restart, but they are put back after the next restart. My tablet is running a 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Would be thankful if you guys advice me in it. The device is really good, you feel some power inside, but this android system issue makes me crazy.

Hi, If this thread is in the wrong forum, please move it.
I have a rooted Xperia Neo V (2.3.4 gingerbread). I started to do some changes to build.prop. I mistakenly changed the SDK version to 16 (although the original was 10 I think) and restarted. upon restarting,Google play and SuperUser crashed. I tried to launch some other apps but they crashed too. I could install ICS apps but they crashed as well.. only some small apps work including the stock apps. Now I can't reverse the change because whenever I open build.prop editor, it asks for root but SU crashes denying it..I tried factory reset,Unrooting and rooting again but same problem..I tried adb pull/push and successfully got the file but I can't send it back because the system is read/write protected or something...to change the read/write thing I need Su permission which I already can't get..I tried installing CWM recovery but now when the phone reboots a blue light flashes for some time and if I press a button(e.g volume down) the phone is stuck there until I take the battery out.The phone only boots up successfully If I don't touch it while it is booting up.
I have a backup of build.prop that I made with Romtoolbox.
What should I do now? Need some help.
Bump?
Help is needed Guys!
Seriously nobody on Xda forums can help me?
Wow. Nobody can help me here?(Bump)

Hi,
I tried rooting my phone using this method [Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo SM-903F] for the first time using Odin and it seemed to succeed on Odin but on my phone it is a different story...
I keep getting Unfortunately, x has stopped working...
the follwing is a list of some of the processes that have stopped working since:
download manager - unable to download anything
user dictionary - everytime I use the keyboard
contacts storage - can't get onto the contacts app
weather daemon - weather gone off lockscreen, no big deal
media storage - looks like i'm unable to store anything
The phone now shows as connected in Odin but whenever I open the Windows Explorer, I can't see it
I've tried restarting the phone a couple of time to no avail.
I fear I may have screwed up my phone a little too much - is there a way to return it back to how it was or fix this mess?
I'm going to try and Factory Reset it, is this a good idea or do any of you have any other ideas?
Thanks
Hello and welcome to XDA Q&A section of the Forum.
A factory reset is always a good idea. But before you try that, open SuperSU and go to settings and disable root and reboot, see if the problem still persists, if it still happens, you know the root of the problem (pun unintended) but if it stops it is because of root. To fix this, do a wipe and then root it and try again.
If I helped, hit "thanks"
