Hi!
Any idea how to put a button anywhere on the startscreen of my SGS2 Android 4.0.3 to start a network scan directly without the detour via the menue?
Best regards
Gerald

I am sorry, there is a misunderstanding: i'd like to start the search for GSM/UMTS networks from the startscreen.
No problem. Sorry, don't know of any, will report back if I find anything of interest though.

Not sure if Tasker can do this; you'll need to get/install it & play around with it, but if it can you'll be able to create a shortcut to the task on a home screen you can hit. Bit of research required by you to check this out, but it's probably your best bet at this stage.
Many thanks for the hint! Tasker is an universal tool which i will use intensly!
I'll be busy for weeks now... Maybe i even find a way to start the search run.
Best regards
Gerald
Let us know how you get on/if it works
Hi!
It needs much more time to get familiar with the Tasker. There is so much to discover! The perfect toy!

Hey all,
i been following these forums for a while, now im lookin for an application that can basicly autoclick/record like a mouserecorder on the pc
my idea is basicly like this,
you have your application open, than press a key on your phone or 2 keys at the same time that starts the recorder when pressed again it stops and you are capable to run the saved record and or even loop it or run it a specific number of times
does this allready excist or is it easy for someone to make or a nice idea to do?
so after all this time, this app still doesnt excist?

i also need it, seeking on google and find no result
poor us !!!
I guess you are seeking what are called 'macros'. Closest on Android is Tasker. On rooted devices, it can simulate d-pad inputs.
I thought he meant something like this. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zausan.zscreenrecorder

I updated my GPS Client and Server apps to work with the Nook Tablet. Install the server on a Android phone that has a GPS device and install the client on the Nook Tablet. Tether the Nook Tablet to your phone and check "Allow mock locations" under "Development Settings." If have Google Maps installed, click "Launch Navigation" to start maps in navigation mode. If you have the destination set, click "Resume Navigation." Otherwise, if you click "Launch Navigation" after you set your destination, it will erase it and you will have to start over. Once Navigation has launched, your can click the "Destination" button in the upper left hand corner or the mic in the upper right hand corner to set your destination.
I have the old version on the Market that I wrote for the Nook Color, but it does not show up for the Tablet. I will put it up on the Market once I figure out how to get it to show up on the Tablet.

The man posts and shares his work with us and all you have to say is that you use something else? Its a wonder that these Dev's don't simply sound off with a singularly-voiced, loud "F*CK YOU!" and stop sharing their art with everyone. A lot of people have become so damned ungrateful these days!
Thanks for your work on this Brian... I appreciate the effort!!
Does the Nook Tablet have bluetooth this time around? I still have my BT GPS I used with my NC.

I have said nothing negative about the app and i never would blame someone for his work to the community. Just sharing my experiences. This device is new and we all have to learn how to deal with it. What's wrong on pointing out another way?

I don't feel that Herr Sonscheiss (Wirklich? Es tut mir leid für Ihren Namen. ) was out of place at all. The thread's title doesn't point out that the topic will be limited to a specific solution so where's the foul in posting an alternative?
In another thread Indirect posted the chipset used and it's apparently an all-in-one IC. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, radio and I believe GPS. The trick will be managing to either get a different ROM running or beat the stock ROM bloody and then start poking sticks in the holes.

I couldn't get this to work without data tethering.
Can this work with a gps app like copilot and without data tethering or do you have to tether data for it to work
The tethergps app supposedly does but I couldn't get it to work for me
I have mock locations enabled and used the power control widget to "enable" gps on the nook

It has nothing to do with you pointing something else out but it does have everything to do with the manner in which you delivered it. You should have given kudos to Brian first and then offered your findings. But the way that you delivered it was as if you meant for people to simply ignore his post and go with what you stated. I'm just saying, show respect first when respect is due before anything else. Just jumping in on someone else's thread without so much as an acknowledgement to the OP is a bit rude in my book.
I got the app to also, and but only with data tethering. Apparently seems to work with fine. A widget for enable/disable would be nice. Good job!

Anyone try logmein yet? I got it but it doesn't work. Gives me an error.
I was using logmein ignition, I recall that it was working with the first CM7 release. After reading some reviews, I got the impression that teamviewer was a superior product, and have been using it successfully for a few weeks now.
1. What error are you getting?
2. Not sure, but, this thread might belong in the Q&A section, and you might get more responses there.

Indeed it is. Not only is it very quick and easy to set up, it's also free. I use Hamachi and a VNC server on my PC/Mac/Linux machines, but on Android I use Team Viewer to access my home machines.
It just says there been an error report. Then ask me if I would like to send it. Ill try these suggestion though. Thanks a lot
I opened a support ticket and with a the log files I was able to gather they only updated the app enough to get to the login screen. According to the logs the app crashes when trying to read the screen orientation. Until they address it, the app is broke on the b&n OS.

I can confirm that version 12.x works. Did a google search for logmein.apk installed the version I found and it works. I do get a force close if I hit the menu soft button after logging in but it remotes beautifully.
I went into google play after installation and unchecked automatically update. Of choose I could only do that since I installed over the top of the latest version.
Thank you for the tip, I'm a happy camper

Hey guys, did a quick Google search on this and didnt see any answers to this bizarre quirk.
I am on non-rooted ICS (stock) - no comments from the peanut gallery about this. Once CM is stable enough that I feel I can use it, Ill switch.
Now, on to the problem.
I installed Chrome and set it to the default browser (but Ill probably change it considering what Im about to post) and set the home page to google.
I begin typing a search query, for example, 'Samsung AT&T No' and Google presents some suggestions of what it thinks Im going to actually search for. Tapping ANY of these suggestions hides the suggestion list and does NOT fill in my query with the suggestion I tapped. In addition, the keyboard is also hidden until I tap in the query edit field again.
In addition, Id like to just state for the record, xda is TERRIBLE on mobile (the website). I dont know what this new 'theme' is but it is barely functional on mobile, on the desktop, the website is completely broken in Firefox (14.0.1 w/ No Script and Tree Style Tabs plugins installed - and yes, I am enabling scripting for XDA).
So, I have reverted to the old xda theme until this is fixed.
BUT, does anyone know what is wrong with Chrome?
Is Chrome out of beta?
if you click the arrow next to the auto complete search query it will fill it in for you.

Yeah I was having this same issue. I am rooted and using the stock browser, same goes for the google search widget. But the answer above solves the problem.

So I've posted in various forums on certain ROMs with questions about things, but I just haven't been able to seem to find the right fit yet.I love AOSP and the ability for customization, Active Display, etc. Maybe someone can help me out here if I say what I'm looking for. Perhaps someone knows if these things are in a certain AOSP ROM. Here's three things:
1.) Hotspot that allows me to see who's connected and maybe name the device that's connected (i have a few things that connect to the hotspot)
2.) Native SMS app that allows me to continue to type after reaching 160 characters (some stock apps stop progress at 160)
and
3.) I know it probably can't be native, but some sort of S-PEN functionality (I use "Screen Write" a lot)
Anyone have suggestions based on this? Thanks for your continued help and development!

1. HotSpot usually has Access-Control which (when enabled) displays who is connecting or trying to connect (you can allow or deny)
2. I've never run into this. I am pretty sure Hangouts doesn't have this.I prefer 3rd party SMS anyway
3. For AOSP S-Pen use CM S Pen Add-on(ROOT)
I hope this helped some, good luck!
Thanks, but regarding your first point on aosp the only options for setting up the Hotspot are ssid, security type and password, is there another spot to bring up access control? Thanks for the other info!

It is probably ROM dependent, which ROM are you using at the moment?
EDIT: you might try this WiFi Tether app, always backup first just incase.
