Hi
I have my music loaded onto a 64GB card in exFAT format.
The music player picks up all my tunes fine but Music Square, no matter what I do, just says playlist empty...
Any idea what's going wrong?
Thanks
Paul

Same problem and posted the same question but no one answered.

hey guys,
I realized it's only works if you store your songs in phone instead of memory card.
Please share the solution if you found it...
Thanks!!
Really? That's pretty dumb. All my music *has* to go on the SD card. -Thanks
My Music Square works well. I store my music in my 32 GB micro SD.
Go to Music Square and then press Setting the select Library Update. That's all.
You need at least 25 songs for Music Square to work.
Hey Jackie,
I have more than 25 songs and I'm using a 32 GB card too..
updated library for N times... nothing happened...
I wonder why this is happening. I have too many songs to store on the phone storage.
It's a shame it's not working

Hi Guys,
for my case it was working when I stored my songs in phone.. after I move my songs to memory card, I have no problem playing the songs but the music square no longer working...
I have perform library update for N times...

Surely it can't be as simple as not working if on sd and if so Samsung are rubbish!

My music is saved on the sd card. I put it into /mnt/extSdCard/media and Music Square works without problems.

Tried changing the folder name to media but no joy.
What version ID3 tags do yours have?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Just just picked the first song that was played in Music Sqaure. According to foobar, the file has id3v2.3|id3v1 tags.
renaming the folder did not help..
I reformat the card and resync and it finally working again.
Did you reformat it in the S3?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
not sure do you mean the initial reformat.
but I did all the reformat in S3.. now it's working and adding more songs..
hopefully it will not stop working again..
Great!
Yes that's what I meant. Mine is exFAT as standard. I don't see why though if it can see my music it can't see anything else?

Just for confirmation, which file format shall we use in order to get it to work?
exFat?

Not sure it matters as someone else had issues with a 32gb card and I doubt that was exFAT

Can anyone tell me how to set the stock music player to play music stored on the external sd card? I searched the forum and could not find an answer. I downloaded songs to mu sd card, but the music player does not list them. Thanks for any help

How long has it been since you downloaded the songs to the sd card? If it was recently and you had a lot of songs it might take a while for it to populate the information. I just put the music on my external and it found it just fine but I only had about 1 GB of music

I think that is for when you are using the Motorola software, but some people like myself prefer to just manually move files over
Playlist created with PowerAmp. After it happened a few times I switched to PlayerPro but it happened again. I read somewhere that it might be caused by media scanner and I did add a HTML file to my phone last night.
What's causing this and how do I avoid it? Thanks

is your music stored on the external sd card?
I got the same problem whenever I hook up to the usb. I talked to the dev. and they told me that power amp doesn't keep track of tracks on a playlist that comes from the sd. Sad!

Yes, songs stored on external SD card. I'll move them to internal storage. Good thing the Vibrant has lots of storage. Thanks!
Edit: This is the solution because songs purchased from Amazon were stored internally and those tracks were not deleted.

Hi everbody.
I have Sensation with Android 2.3.5 right now. And there is a problem I couldn't solve and find any solution about it.
Some of my musics don't show up on library no matter which music player I use. These songs don't have any particular property that can cause it. Half of the songs of same album or different bitrates or same bitrates or same tags or different tags. It's just mixed at all.
I can see and play these songs using file explorers.
Different roms don't change anything either. Sense or CM.
Deleting and copying music files again or tagging again didn't solve.
Formatting SD card didn't solve.
Deleting cache of MediaProvider.apk didn't solve.
Changing file manes or folder didn't solve.
I use cover art downloader to refresh mediastore everytime but it doesn't stick.
I'm tired of it.
I'm open to the ideas...
What is the format of your songs that can't play normally?

I don't have this problem. I have up to 22mb mp3, 512kbps bitrate, mp3 or flac format.. btw, I use Google music.
If you try to search the music using search option in music app, will it work?

Mines are V0 Mp3 and their size are up to 15 MB. Average is 8 MB. Totally 1567 songs.
Search can't find them either because they're not included in library.
Btw, there are people who have that problem on the net. Even on Google forums(I don't know exact name) after long conversations still no solution as far as I read.
So no one has any clue?

Tried an hour ago, it added the missing songs to the library. Just came back to check if it's still ok but no luck. They dissapeared again.
unfortunatly I am kinda having same problem but I think mine is a bit more irritating. ever since I updated to gingerbread on my thunderbolt all and I mean all my music was misscatigorized, band names changed ,song names changed. it appears that the only ones that didnt change were one that had all info even album art. even newly downloaded songs are misscatagorized. im considering deleting the stock player all together . who the hell has the time to go threw and re name everything or re download .

Hi,
I have a rooted official ics neo V with locked bootloader, I've noticed recently that its not saving ringtone message tone or notification tones, and ever time I try to access the music player it tells me I have no music in library, I have a 16gb class 10 filled with 8gb of music, I can still browse the music folders with a file explorer...
Any ideas what could be wrong.

Try the Xperia S music player app.
Check this:

Install SemcMusic.apk and MusicWidget.apk (you can install other apps too, all work fine)

@aqshyt Thanks for replying, i did what you said and no joy, same problem, I wanted to avoid it but I'm just going to do a complete fresh reinstall, plus format of the SD card, thank god all my contacts are sync'ed with Gmail.
You can also back up your contacts on the memory card, save it to your computer, then put it back again after formatting your memory card to import then.

I've done a full fresh install, contacts sorted, I'll use it today and see if it keeps my tones and music library, fingers crossed, it might just be placebo but my phone seems faster.

So it seems that the neo v can't handle 8gb of music, phone works fine until I transfer 8gb of music to it then is loses tone settings and drops the library, I moved my tones into the system/media/ folder and that solved the losing ring tones problem, but it still drops the music library, I think I'll have to cut my music down to 6 or 4gb of music, which is gonna be tough because I really like my music it was hard enough choosing 8gb worth.
Sent from my MT11i using Tapatalk 2
After putting 2gb of music on my phone it works fine no clearing of ringtones or dropping of music library, I still don't know if its the phone or memory card that was the problem, my last phone was the X10 Mini Pro and I had 8gb of music on it and it worked fine, so I think its the phone, anyway its sorted now.

Did it happen right after you installed some mp3's?
I downloaded a faulty mp3 before and it caused my music player to act weird. You can try not moving the most recent songs you had to start eliminating it. I dont have that much songs on my phone but I do have more than 16gb of media on it and im not having any problems.
Sent from my MT11i using Tapatalk
I was using the same tracks that I had on my x10 mini pro, so I 'think' the tracks are fine, unless maybe there was a corruption when transferring.

that, or corruption of sd card itself..
When I first bought this phone, had mp3 music files on a 64gb card that I installed to listen to while I did my daily walks. It seems that now, none of my music will play on my device. I'm not rooted, purely stock with the KitKat update. I've tried both internal and external storage, reformatted the cards and reloaded the files, but the very few that manage to play at all are very choppy and skip very badly. Am I doing something wrong? Never had this type of problem with my previous android phones. It's it because of the KitKat update? What can I do to install and play my music? Thank you guys so much for any help that you can give!

Well I don't have a fix I'm not on kit Kat myself but I do know a lot of people have had issues with kit Kat recognizing their SD card so I would search this area and the general thread on SD card fix.
