First off I understand the mute/unmute problem is on most ics roms. But it never happens for me unless I'm on the phone with my headphones in. It's with every ics ROM I've used. Can someone please help me with this because I don't really like talking on the phone without my headphones because I hate holding my phone up all the time. Thanks

This is for when you plug in your headphones? Because mine only does it when I plug in my head phones. Plus it downloaded as htm and not zip file.

Oh, my bad, Didn't read your entire OP.
That is just for phone.
Also its probably a htm because you're downloading it on a phone most likely?

It looks to only fix the handset problem for most. (You tried CM9 and Mute/Unmute Patcher is based on CM9)
Unfortunately I don't know that I have a compatible headset to try. Did you say that you can you confirm that this doesn't happen on manufacturer stock? Did you try recently? (To rule out that the headset is just getting old and worn)
I flashed cm9 and flashed the patch and it didn't work. still had horrible tunnel sound and quality with my headphones in. Worked fine without headphone (like on all other ics roms). Odin back to 2.1 stock and it worked flawlessly with headphones in & out. Flashed MIUI stock based on CM7 and it worked flawlessly again headphones in and out. So I can definitely confirm its not an hardware issue. Idk why it only does it with ics roms.

I was thinking....what if I flashed an ics rom....then flashed an gb modem....would it work? Or does this not have anything to do with the modem?

Does anybody know how to leave this option always enabled? An application to do that? A config file?
Thanks in advance

I'm using Faux 1.6 kernel and Alien 4, i don't think that's a issue on Alien or the kernel, other users on google have the same problem using Gingerbread stock...
I tried CM7 for a while and it worked no problem thou... Just waiting for a better CM7 release to use it as my main OS.

Having a issue with cm7 nightly's havent tried a stable yet but unsure about this issue. The media volume first step from mute is like half volume next couple steps raise it to max and the rest of the steps do nothing. Any ideas?

It has to do with samsung drivers that they (devs) don't have.

The volumefix app installs asks for superuser, runs but doesn't make a difference. So it really is related to samsung withholding drivers? wow they keep getting worse and worse. Well, at least we have sound even if the volume is out of wack.

Yup, that's the same thing we came up with. It isn't designed for the i777.
Yeah, but I would keep an eye on the CM9/ICS releases. This might get fixed, but I can't say for sure. It's better to be positive, right?
The inbuilt dsp manager is one the best in the market. And i had no such problems with cm7. Reflash it !

Pick anyone, it's better for sure. I use Kingsoft Miui on Semaphore kernel, I know it's way better than Bionix 1.3.1 or Biwinning or no matter what Froyo you can think of. Go ahead, it's time to upgrade.
+1, all of the 4.1.2 ROMs , IMO, are stable. There has been great progress with GPS in these ROMs as well. Upgrade, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I am Jack's smirking revenge.

Be warned that gps fixes that replace blobs can mix badly with emergency dialing and can cause intermittent (and in at least one case constant) RIL crashes when dialing an emergency number.

Also intermittent means it could work 90% but crash 10% of the time, so one test may not be conclusive. But frankly, I'm not sure if SlimBean uses the right libraries in the first place. prbassplayer/kravind can correct me if I'm wrong though.
How a 911 call is different from a regular call anyway? Why if regular numbers are working 911 won't?

Samsung used a special RIL request code for emergency numbers, so when we detect an emergency number, we use that code. When it does an emergency call it uses a command related to GPS and if the GPS libraries are out of whack, then the RIL can crash or receive corrupt GPS readings.
And also, 911 has to work even if no SIM card is present.

Ahhhhh, seems like the wake lock problem haven't gone away... It depends on how I reboot my phone, also I'm still unable to get a GPS fix.
I think this is the last Samsung device I'll bought, instead of making new devices every 3 weeks it would be better if they actually supported their devices by updating the os for instance...geeee.

I don't think that's possible since you change your location.
You can use an external GPS which will surely provide a better lock than the internal GPS.

U get anywhere with this? On my third phone and it happens every time I root and install CM10.1 although the prob remains eben if I go back to sense based ROM. This is so frustrating and this is my primary work phone. Idk how its just u and I? I'm assuming with sprint being aware along with/ tech support /multipl3 replacements/weekly complaints - that they will allow me an early upgrade for the One or S4. Whichever is first because this has been a nightmare . Bluetooth the only usable format for voice calls. A full wipe and flashing a sense ROM should fix it for you guys. If the problem persists after that there could be something physically wrong with the mic

You don't have to do that. I had the same problem when i flashed a certain CM10.1 rom (cm10.1 black from swiperrat i believe). I simply wiped everything and installed irocevo's unofficial CM10.1 4.2.2 (the one with xperia z launcher and acid audio mod) and i was apparently perfectly clear after that. Give the rom a try, it fixed my issues.

have you guys all tried Sense ROMs to see if they fix your problem? otherwise you might be in ipclark1's situation (i.e. a problem with the actual mic rather than a software issue).
i had no mic issues whatsoever on kushdeck's build:

no it works just fine with stock sense rom, so it must be a software issue

If you want that ROM, I would try reflashing the ROM. If that doesn't work, then download the ROM again and flash. Could be a bad flash or bad download. Complete wipe before you do the flash/reflash.
I'm saying why after months of using it would it all of a sudden happen? Doesn't make sense. The ROM wasn't update, nothing changed.
