Dear Xperia S users,
I really love the Xnew Sony Xperia S since I tested it in my local Smartphone shop so I ordered my unit this week and I will receive it Tuesday or Wednesday probably
Some of you might already know me or my work on the Xperia 2011 devices, but some of you probably don't know me at all so here is a short introduction:
I am a 20year old student that started developing for some Xperia 2011 devices on XDA. I started development recently, only a month ago, when the official ICS beta came out
Since then I developed a custom rom named KA Ice Cream Sony (KA = KrabAppel, and I really loved the sound of Ice Cream Sony) I also chose this name because my rom is based on the Sony theme
Those who want to check out what I already made for the 2011 Xperia devices here are the threads:
Xperia Neo & Neo V: Xperia Neo KA ICS thread
Xperia Arc & Arc S: Xperia Arc KA ICS thread
Xperia Ray: Xperia Ray KA ICS thread
Xperia Play: Xperia Play KA ICS thread
Now I'll finally get to the point Since I'm receiving my Xperia s next week, I'm also going to start development for the SXS, but the question is:
How do you want my rom to be themed, which add-ons would you like to have and so on
Some examples:
- ICS themed, status bar widgets, reboot option in power menu and on screen button enabler
- Based on Sony ICS beta theme, framework mods like AOSP lockscreen etc, auto-rotating home
- ...
This information would really be useful, so i can prepare my rom as much as possible to the general needs of the Xperia S users
The Xperia S isn't a cheap phone, so if anyone feels free to donate a little bit amount I can increase my resources for the rom (and maybe kernel) development of Xperia S. Don't donate because I post this, only if you really want to support me
Thank you for you're support and trust in all the devs
hello,
AOSP lockscreen: will lost the notification lockscreen???
can you make "volume button" enable wake up screen???
thanks
-ICS and Sony ICS lockscreen.
-Notifications for emails, messages, lost calls, etc.
-Change track via long pressing volume button.
-ICS or Sony ICS theme.
-Power widgets on status bar
-Brightness slider on status bar
-Weather on status bar (just like AOKP)
Well, I can remember just this right now. If I think on something else, I will tell.

can you mode camera default to best mode?
Power widget under statusbar, scrollable, no brightness slide!

I don't know about the AOSP lockscreen and notifications, the framework of Xperia S is pretty different so I'll have to do some testing with it first before I can fully start developing without a lot of mistakes

Make it fast, smooth, stable and with a better battery life would be really awesome
I'd like stock android, with no addons what so ever

That's how I use my own rom without add-ons
I am not sure how far it's possible to do so, but i would appreciate a MIUI port for our Xperia S
The work you've done on the Arc looks great, I didn't need to look at the others! That sort of development for our great phone will be much appreciated and I will very much look forward to your work!

I'm not into MIUI development but I'm sure someone else will make an MIUI rom for Xperia S

Thanks I will receive my Xperia S tomorrow or Wednesday
Gamer OS -stripped as much as possible and graphically optimalise,
tweak tweak for gaming ??
more free ram
battery life improved
improved hardware accelation !!
Possibly 2.0ghz overclocking
"something like wolf-rom(x10) you like particular tweak, app, wigdet you download a package-not much preinstalled"
Improved music output, automatic album art download, burst mode in camera, track switching with volume keys, option to select number of home screens...
Thank you.
Change the volume rocker, so it will both have a vibrate and no-vibrate state at the bottom. This is default in htc roms, and for example cyanogenmod has an option for this in the settings.

I believe this doesn't work in stock player at all if you unlock bootloader, because DRM keys are lost.

Thanks for the replies
I am a little confused... Your stock version have a mixture of Sony ICS and vanilla ICS theme? If I'm right, you should do small add ons with each part of the themed things (like one for SystemUI, other for MMS, other for lockscreen, for example). Got it?
Hello guys,
this is my first post here so far and since there is no Q&A area for the ray, I hope it's OK to ask here.
On my Xperia Ray I'm currently running RayOniumICSv.5 which is essentially a modded Stock ICS with the usual Xperia interface.
I'd like to change the layout from the phonebook, either preferably the way it looked like on 2.3.4/ GB with the four seperate buttons on the lower edge
or like on the Xperia S with still only three button on the lower edge, however with a direct button for favourite contacts.
I already tried something similar with the keyboard. Since I prefer the old, grayish I simply copied the textinput-tng.apk and overwrote the old, which worked well so far.
Trying the same with the Phonebook.apk unfortunately didn't worked out. ICS essentially accepted both (I unpacked them from different ROMs), however both times with flaws: The GB Version turned out to work, yet the typepad section seemed to be flawed and unable to use. Using the Xperia S version, no call logs were displayed.
Is there any other possibility to redesign it?
I prefer the old layout the most because of the seperate buttons and especially because the favourite or starred contacts were directly accessible where in the ICS layout you have to go there over Groups -> Favourites. Another reason as well is the old list layout which is more assessable than the newer with (rather clunky) icons.
Thank you in advance!
2 days ago I flashed ICS 4.0.4 on my X10 (ROM Xperia S ICS - CM9,1)
It's so great to have ICS on our X10's but the ROM wasn't complete, so I searched for some .zips to flash with CWM recovery and I found some cool stuff. Obviously our Xperias without Facebook Integration can't be named Xperias, my problem is that I flashed the social engine core and everytime I open Walkman app i get this: FC com.sonymobile.socialengine.plugins. I unchecked it from the list of my performance assistant for it can run, even rebooting i get the same FC. And I'm experimenting freezes screens and some reboots.
I'm on FXP 142 kernel.
I really apreciate if you can tell me how can I fix my 6 issues please:
1) FC com.sonymobile.socialengine.plugins
2) Freezes on homescreen, settings screens
3) Reboots on homescreens.
4) Some toggles like torch and 3g data don't work properly as widgets and in status bar
5) Movie studio app opens normally but when I try to add a picture or a video, even taking a picture, it can't let me do that.
6) Exists any solution to use tether? I was using reverse tethering since July, so it's must have to me.
Thanks to everybody who is gonna help me, I'll click your THANKS button.
AFAIK, no one has integrated the Sony timescape UI into a cm9 ROM.. its laggy n slow.. so don't bother abt it.. Facebook has its own widgets for similar functionality
Although on second thoughts, I think achotjan's ROM has these features.
Sent from my Xperia X10 using xda app-developers app
Those who are updated to ICS & really missing those lovely live wallpaper, this is for them.
I tried my best but every time when I m going to use old livewallpaper, I got force close error
Finally I found a working GB LWP from Micromax Canvas 2.
Now it is working smoothly, Check it Out.
Press THANKS button, if I helped you
Can you please add also Bubbles?
Hi all,
I only now use my X10 as my secondary phone - I use it when I go running to track my running stats with the GPS etc, so that if I drop it and break it, it's not a big deal!
For the last few months I've been using this AOSP 4.2.2 ROM on there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197387
I think this ROM is amazing, but it does have a tendency to slow down to a crawl when I am out and running my Endomondo running app.
So I have decided I want a Gingerbread ROM again, probably Feralabs, but there are some features in ICS/JB that I was wondering if had been ported across?
Specifically, I want to be able to add the custom message to the home screen. I like this feature, as I can put my name and phone number in there in case I do lose the phone and anyone finds it (obviously relying on the fact that they wish to return it to me!!)
Also, I want the WiFi icon in the toolbar to have the activity arrows. In GB ROMs I've used, it's always just a static icon.
Is there any Gingerbread ROM which has a launcher which supports these two functions?
Many thanks for any advice.
Alex
Bump....nothing??
Have both those features on my XPERIA S, but don't know of any XPERIA X10i GB ROM that has those features.... and I've tried a few.
Thanks for the reply
Likewise, I also have those features on the Xperia S, but in JellyBean.
The wifi one sounds silly, but I actually rely on the activity arrows a lot as my wifi plays up so often. Whereas in Gingerbread is just sits there with the icon and you have no idea if data is being sent or received.
The message on the homescreen feature I always use in ICS/JB, it's a shame it appears it cannot be done in GB ROMs.

Not that is can't be done, just that I don't know of any GB ROM that has it.
Check X10 themes and Apps posts, you never know your luck.
