[Q] BLN Defination - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what is bln controll and whats its function??

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=what+is+bln

BLN = backlight notification, I.E when you get a call, txt, whatever a blinking led light on the phone lights up to let you know. As the SGS2 doesn't have a dedicated led, hacks have been developed that enable the softkey lights to blink in order to achieve this.
True BLN needs to be supported at the kernel level (as opposed to various apps on Google Play which make an indicator on your screen blink), to the best of my knowledge only Siyah (and possibly some direct ripoffs of Siyah) support BLN at this stage. There is a wakelock associated with using BLN and you will suffer a degree of extra battery drain (apparently small) if you use it.

I think "NoLED" app from market does not require a supporting Kernel and its awesome,

Led control in EBXX?

I can't get my led notification to work in any SC 2.X
I know that led control is supported by kernel.
I'm currently on SC 2.8, I tried all the led control app from the market but still a no-go.
Anyone found a way around this?
If by LED control, you mean Backlight Notifications, where the soft keys light up on certain events, then no. We don't have kernel sources so we can't build a kernel with BLN built-in to do so.
The Fascinate doesn't even have an LED (I WISH!!)

That's your problem.
We don't have the source code for this rom yet, so this no BLN or high fidelity audio fix from super curio...
misses my voodoo sound fix :-/

[Q]How to make LED blink on GB?

I tried all three kernels currently available for GB, none of them supports blinking LED. Then I tried to install BLN control and blinky, but unfortunately BLN control complaints about kernel not supported. Are the folks on GB out of luck for now?
TIA!

The Fascinate doesn't have a notification LED...unless you are referring to the camera LED..If you want that to flash, try a flashlight app or something similar, but I don't think there is a way to make the camera LED flash for notifications, although would be kinda a cool..
alright whatever you call them. I really mean the softkeys that can be used as notifications. Blinking can be done by using BLN control pro or blinky, as long as kernel is supported. However, BLN control does not seem to like any of the kernels GB has....

The BLN built into JT's kernel, nemesis2all's, and Tk-Glitch's isn't BLN its something else. That's why they work but can't be controlled by BLN or blinky. Tk-Glitch has a good write up on what he uses for his kernel and his plan to impliment BLN control. Check here.

How to deal with Absence of LED Notification

I realize that the SGII does not have the LED Notification and this is a feature I have loved from the Blackberry to the Motorola Atrix. I even tried to switch from ATT to Sprint for the new Touch 4G SGII with Notification LED but Sprint sucks in my area but the screen SOLD ME!!!
Anyway now that ATT will have the SGII I plan to get one I love the screen but how are you getting past no notification LED. I don't want to constantly be powering on the display to make sure I haven't missed an audible notification. Does the SGII offer ab option for a recurring notification sound? Just don't want to walk away from my phone while its charging and miss a message. I have one of those jobs where I am required to respond to emails in 15 minutes....

Why not use a kernel with BLN. That is what i use as a substitute.
It turns the buttons into notification lights.
Search BLN in this forum, stands for Blacklight Notification. Some Kernels support it. It uses the back and menu button as a blinking indicator
NoLED is another alternative. It works without rooting.
Do note that NoLED will drain your battery like crazy if you don't "confirm" the notification.
The phone will not enter sleep-mode while a notification is going on. For me: rather useless. For somebody else: might just work as expected
I've used both BLN and Noled.
BLN will drain my S2 no matter what. I prefer Noled as it flexible and allows me to configure my notifications to my likings to minimize battery drain.
I use BLN and I'm pretty happy with it. Battery life is still very good, can't even tell if BLN drains that much. Haven't tried NoLED so far so I can't really say anything about it.
I use NoLED. I have noticed on occasion it has drained the battery somewhat, but I usually access the phone long before it becomes an issue. I like the fact that it uses custom icons for different events.
Tons of apps on the market that can play sounds at a certain period, reminding you of missed sms/calls/emails. I'm not a fan of led notifications, i'd rather use sound notifications.
Ninpo's kernel is BLN enabled and can be used with any samsung ROM. Install free version BLN controls app and you are good to go.

[Q] bln with Light Flow Lite and CF-Root

Hi all, I use the app lite flow lite to get notifications from a lot of apps I use on my ace (K9-Mail, Calender, SMS, missed Calls, eBay). It gives sound an will light the button backlights when kernel supports bln.
Unfortunately the bln function is not very stable. Sometimes lights go on for some seconds and then go out. I set the configuration to do solid light (no blinking). Sometimes lights go on and cannot be stopped any more, until I reboot the ace.
I tried with different versions of the app and different versions of CF-Root. I achieve the best results with app version 2.6.1 and CF-Root-S5830 v3.7 b82-ex-fixed. In this combination bln starts very dependable, but sometimes does not stop.
With newer Versions of the app light blinks just one time and than stops shining. Same effect with older versions of CF-Root and with b83. I did not try B84 because I do not need overclocking. And I did not try an CM7-Kernel because battery life is said to be not so good. In the moment I am on rom StockLite v2.0, but I had same effects on other roms and on stock deodexed.
Does anyone have similar experiences? Is there any hint, how to get bln to work with newer Versions of the app? Or maybe another app that can light buttons on several notifications.

BLN on SGS2 with Gustavo_s' kernel

Hey guys,
I recently changed my i9100 SGS2 from stock firmware to CM11m7. I have to say, I am really impressed with the increase in speed and the new options it gives me. One of those options that I just found out about is BLN. Since the SGS2 has no notification led, and NoLED draws quite some battery, this seems like a nice feature.
Of course I figured out that BLN is not supported by the CM11 kernel. So I upgraded to the kernel from Gustavo_s (the newest build from 06/21). As of yet, I am not really sure though which software or settings I need to get BLN running! What I've done so far is that I installed STweaks. This recognizes that my kernel supports BLN. When I switch to the BLN tab in STweaks, I am able to configure BLN to my liking, and also the test works fine (Click on Test BLN, switch off screen with power button, touchkeys get illuminated).
However, I have not understood yet how I can make my applications put a notification to be shown by those leds. WhatsApp for example has a setting to show notifications with the led. But it doesn't show anything. Then, most of the stock apps seem to just have no such option, since notification led is no feature of SGS2 (but I thought that the BLN mod inside Gustavo_s' kernel would take care at least for the apps that have such setting).
So I thought that maybe the much used app BLN control might do the trick. Upon starting, this gives me the message that my current liblights does not support BLN. No idea what to do with this. If I can upgrade, if I need another kernel. Simply no idea. And the app's homepage doesn't give me any hint. Another thing I tried was Light Flow. Here I have two extra options in the LED setting, one being sec_touchkey and the other being touchkey panel. Activated both. Also activated root mode. No chance. Even the notification test in Light Flow doesn't light any of the two touchkey leds.
Has anyone any idea, what I need to do? Can I upgrade liblights? Is it a thing of the kernel? Any suggestions maybe for another kernel to use (Dorimanx maybe?).
Any help is much appreciated!

The post of Gustavo_s clearly say:
KNOWN PROBLEMS
- Stweaks is not working at the moment, and i can't work to fix it because of reasons above.
Still, however, there is a workaround
Install Gustavo_s Kernel's from 21/4 (search for it) + STweaks
Really, its my config.
Cheers
Im speak spanish, sorry.
Or use Gustavo_s Kernel's with synapse.
