Hey guys, i just have a simple question, is the legend really that much better than the HTC Hero?
Cause i'm about to buy a HTC Hero, but if the Legend will be MUCH better, then i'll maybe take the Legend.
Well, what i'm afraid of is the following: the legend will be rooted/released, custom roms will be made, and all that stuff, but will the HTC Hero then "die" on this forums?
same phone just a bit faster from what I can see. At first I wanted to trade in my hero for a Legend mainly because one of the previews said something about better battery life. But now the reviews are out and battery life is just as bad so I decided against it.
Main pros and cons were:
Pros
+++MUCH better placement of the Back button on the Legend
+AMOLED screen
+Faster
+Slimmer and better looks
+flash on camera
Cons
-metal casing might feel more sturdy but can't feel as good as that rubbery back cover on the hero for every day use
-with the battery lid thing, doesn't look too good for hotswapping memmory cards
-with a one piece metal casing, prob hard to do, but it'll always be on the back of my mind, what if I dent it, what if I scratch it etc. etc.
In the end do I want to pay something like a £150 on top just to get a better placed back button? Answer was no, I'll manage.
The Hero has a 528MHz CPU while the Legend has a 600MHz CPU.
The Hero has 288MB of RAM while the Legend has 384MB of RAM.
The Hero doesn't have a flash on the camera, while the Legend does.
That's really about it.
Ok, the main thing for me would be the screen.
Right now i have an iPhone, it has amoled, but when i saw and used te hero for some minutes, the touchscreen was very good!
Anduhh, the htc hero is "overclockable" right?? So it doesn't really matter.
Aside from the flash, the Legend also has a much better camera.
Check out the comparison here:

documentation suggests the processor has a better graphics chip though.
Apparently the GPU in the Legends MSM7227 supports OpenGL ES 2.0 (same as the Nexus Ones Snapdragon processor), as opposed to Open GL ES 1.1 in the Heros MSM7200.

Dave
ok, the camera doesn't matter very much.
It will be just for some useless pictues
But the HTC Hero is overclockable right?
And the Hero does also have flash -.-"
No flash on the Hero.
Hey guys. I'm looking to buy a new phone this week, and i'm torn between the Sensation XE and the Samsung Galaxy S2. I can get them both free on a £30 per month contract with 900 mins, 5000 texts and 1Gb of data. So i'll post this on both the Sensation (since there is no XE board) and the SGS2 board. Hopefully someone on here has an XE, if not anyone with the normal Sensation please give some info as to how you've found it, same goes for owners of the SGS2.
Here is how i see it at the moment.
Screen
Sensation XE - 4.3" qHD 960x540 S-LCD
SGS2 - 4.3" Super AMOLED+ 400x800
This is one of the things i'm confused about, i mean, clearly the AMOLED display will have better contrast and viewing angles, but i'm slightly concerned about the resolution being only 480x800. On my Omnia 7 the super amoled 480x800 on only a 4" display looks pixelated. Could someone let me know whether the SGS2 uses the Pentile matrix or full RGB set-up?
Processor
Sensation XE - 1.5Ghz dual core Qualcomm MSM8260
SGS2 - 1.2Ghz dual core Exynos
The XE has a higher clock speed but I'm worried that sense 3.0 will slow it down. And also the Exynos is probably better than the Qualcomm.
RAM
Sensation XE - 768Mb
SGS2 - 1Gb
Clearly the SGS2 is better here.
Internal storage
Sensation XE - 4Gb (1Gb user accessible)
SGS2 - 16Gb/32Gb
Expandable Memory
Sensation XE - Micro SD, up to 32Gb
SGS2 - Micro SD, up to 32Gb
Dimensions
Sensation XE - 126.1 x 65.4 x 11.3 mm 151g
SGS2 - 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49 mm 116g
Battery
Sensation XE - 1730Mah
SGS2 - 1650Mah
Camera
Sensation XE - 8MP, dual LED flash 2MP FF, 1080p video
SGS2 - 8MP, LED flash 0.3MP FF, 1080p video
So that's the specs, obviously in most categories the Sensation XE is the winner, but i would like to know what people who have actually used the phones think. There are some things other than the hardware which separate the two, such as Sense 3.0 on the XE, and Touchwiz on the SGS2. Not forgetting beats integration on the XE.
So that turned into a face off really, but still. What do you guys think? I'd love to here some suggestions as to which i should buy. I've had a Desire HD, rooted and S-Off'd obviously, and used sense 3.0 on that and it ran quite nicely, so a dual core processor should be even better. I'll stop now.
Look forwards to your responses guys Alex
Go for the sensation XE if you get them for free. I have sgs2 and I'm reallly satisfied. But HTC is newer, got good specs. I know you wont be unsatisfied with any of them. But if i was in your shoes then i would go for htc

In my opinion, the only thing better in the sensation is the build quality, the SGS2 is better in everything else, including the screen imo(+1 for full RGB setup)....
Also, the exynos SoC is better than all the crap qualcomm produces....
The sgs2 will be faster than the sensation, and the screen is great.
On rawr resolution the sensation may win, but the sgs2 has ammazing viewing angles, colour, contrast etc.
I would get the sgs2 over the sensation myself, but i don't like sense, so that's more of a personal thing.
In the end, hardware wise there both good, so it's a matter of software, goodness knows when htc will officially drag there phones to ics due to sense, i dont see samsung draging there heals so much, a lot of what was in touchwizz seems to have gone into ics.
Tl;dr both good, software I think is the deciding factor (I would vote sgs2 but that's because this is the sgs2 forum)

Yeah i got the Camera specs the wrong way around In benchmarks the SGS2 does seem to outperform the XE in things like linpack and Neocore. Full RGB is a plus on the screen front. I'm so confused :L I know what HTC are like though, so if i get the XE in a week or two they'll release something way better and i'll feel like a douchebag
Just came from a sensation to a galaxys2 today owned the HTC for 2months , all i can say is i will never miss the HTC over the gs2, your worrys about the res in the screen has no effect from the difference the SA+ screen, colors have no depth and look like they have a white glow on the sensation, mine was custom romed with beats profiles on it, it is good, however power amp does a better job. Build is good but fat and i got a slim line case and it felt like a brick. But sense 3.0/3.5 is great very flash and handy for social news feeds etc.
All i can say is have a try urself instore and make sure to look at the sensation screen compared to the gs2s ,
Oye and one other thing , my HTC from new out of the box had white dead pixels and showed up really bad at grey colours, they drove me crazy , also the HTC only has toughen glass vs the gorilla glass on the gs2 and i had a thick protecter on and it got scratched
Hope i helped

The only thing I don't want for an HTC phone is sense. As pretty and lust worthy as it is, the performance is subpar.
I had an HTC Desire for about a year and half, s-off and all that. I played with the Sensation as a few friends had them and being honest I'm happy I made the switch from HTC.
Not thinking about the UI the SGS2 is faster, I think the screen is better and everything is responsive. Rooting takes 5 minutes once you have it figured out. Ive only had it 2 weeks but its more responsive imo and using a sensation again felt like it was slow.
I'm still figuring it out really but they do feel really diffrrent in the hands. The sensation is heavier and feels more solid in the hand but also feels bigger. The SGS2 feels lighter but still tough, although it feels a bit cheaper it feels like it will last.
The Touch Wiz interface I do like. I also liked Sense with my last phone, TW is better with more options and functions as well as being fast and responsive. I'm just trying to get my head around it but I'm liking it a lot.
Oh and the battery life is awesome, a full day and half with light use and I had 20% left. I used gps, internet, made about 30 mins of calls, about 40 texts as well as syncing my gmail, hotmail, facebook, exchange email the whole time. I'm also still running the stock rom but rooted, I just use juice defender.
I hope that helps. Ask the same question in the sensation board and you will prob get the same about the HTC. It's really up to you, try both and see what you think. Look past the how the UI works and see how it feels you hand and also how responsive as well as accurate. You are going to be holding the phone for usually a year so it better feel right.

I'd get the sgs2 easily, reviews have showed the the bump from 1.2ghz to 1.5ghz hardly makes any difference on the XE, sgs2 has a better screen, more memory, is very light and with proper eq settings can easily outclass the bass heavy beats sound on the htc. let me not forget, it runs like a dream
Iv'e confused myself even more now Just checked out the Moto Razr and it looks amazing. And its super Amoled Advanced with qHD so best of SGS2 and Sensation. Damn you OEM's! Stop making great phones i can't choose between. Screw it i'll get an iPhone............... oh no wait i have a brain.
The Razr has a locked bootloader so if you want to flash a custom rom onto it, the Razr defeats the purpose. Also Motorola is horrible at updates and keeping customer's satisfied. Moreover Motorola's software is even more subpar than sense.
Yeh, unlocked bootloader and no need to s-off or anything is another good reason to go samsung or nexus.

That's the thing. if you don't need to root or something similar then the razr is all yours. Just weigh out whether you need root or not.

Galaxy nexus ftw. But if you cant get that than definetely get the RAZR or GSII. HTC offers great build quality but their software is buggy and hogs the battery. I enjoy TouchWiz and I also like Motorola's GingerBlur; its kind of nice.

I would say the SGSII for sure, i like HTC and my last phone was the superb HD2 but HTC sense is a resource hog and i always just flashed non sense ROM's but i do believe Samsung have overtaken HTC in the smartphone market and to date the SGSII is still the phone to beat.

I like both phones, and both have their ups and down.
I like both companies new iterations of their proprietary skins, Sense 4.0 looks great and TouchWiz (5?) has a bunch of new helpful features (and I like old ones such as swipe a name to call/message). The One X definately wins in the looks department but I don't think the SGS III is as ugly as most make it out to be. However I hear the battery life isn't so great on the One X, and a portion of the screen is wasted for an onscreen menu button due to HTC basing it on the layout Google set out (which is stupid I think, there's no reason to have a seperate multitasking button when holding down Home for 1-2 seconds works perfectly fine.)
All in all I think the SGS III offers more benefits to the user, even if HTC does win in certain areas (better looking, better camera, more refined interface). If I were actually buying one of the two I'd like to try them out side by side before making a final decision, but at this stage I'm going to say Galaxy S III.
S3 cuz of us storage mode and lte

I think htc is better software and design wise but the s3 might have better battery life and camera also samsung tends to have phone really lightweight but it just depends what you prefer : sense or touchwiz?

I would say the S3. I like every spec that it have. Im not going to say that the X One is a bad phone because it isn't, its a great great phone, but i just like Samsung more.

+1 my exact same thought. except i would never get caught holding a samsung phone.
Hello guys.
This is something I'm wondering about as I'm planning to buy a new device soon. I love HTC's build quality and the Legend was the best looking phone I've ever owned.
On the other hand, I'm currently using a Galaxy S i9000 which I absolutely hated out of the box but fell in love with once I discovered the great work by developers on this site.
Development for i9000 and Samsung in general is very active here. Could an HTC owner please tell me how it is on the other side of the fence? My decision will eventually come down to the availability of custom ROMS from XDA.

Another S3 vote here.
The only thing the HOX has over the S3 is the screen, and that's debatable depending on whether you prefer LCD or AMOLED and their accompanying traits.
Both great phones, but the S3 wins on processor/GPU grunt and software innovation.
The slight camera advantage that the HOX had has been demolished by Samsung copying it's main features and bettering them (burst mode, best shot, voice activated capture) - and Samsung cameras have always been pretty good hardware-wise anyway.
SD card support, removable battery, probably better battery life (than the Tegra 3 HOX), the list goes on - and that's even before you get into the software side of things which I won't bother with as I assume you have/are capable of looking all that up.

2nd times 10. Samsung phones feel so dang cheap you forget about what a good phone should feel like. I hated my GSII and went to the HTC One S and it is just night and day for me. I get signal in places I didn't before. The slim form factor and the build quality and just so superior. Never say never but I doubt I will be grabbing another Samsung. (Vibrant owner and GSII)
Obviously there is no perfect phone as I am not a fan of where they put the volume buttons and how large they are in contrast to the wake\sleep button but overall outstanding device. My good friend keep on about his One X and I see why. Sense has some really nice things about it. Twiz is the devil. Add to that Samsung's update issue and industry worse no looking back to support devices and that is enough for me. I am not saying they are wrong it just doesn't work for me going forward.
I really like the design & build quality of HTC One X.. Both are polycarbonate plastic but HTC did the right thing! But SGS III beats One X in almost every single category.. So SGS III for me.. I don't care about the design anyway since i will use casing.. lol

Hey guys. This is like my 2nd or 3rd topic about this kind of thing but i've had a series of doubts. I ordered a HTC Sensation XE that was used but when i got it they didn't put the guarantee with it so i send it back and got my refund. A now i saw a better offer and decided to go for the SGS2 but even knowing they say it's the best phone at the moment (or atleast of 2011) I really dislike it's outside looks and TouchWiz interface. I know that in terms of technology it's better than the HTC Sensation XE, but looking at some speeds tests it's like the XE reacts a lot faster atleast for me.
So my questions are:
1. Can i put HTC Sense on S2?
2. Does Cyanogen for S2 look like what it would for Sensation XE
3. Which has a bigger SCREEN, i know sensation has better resolution
4. How does the outside of the S2 look to you compared to the Sensation XE

But without sense functions
2.yes it is the same in all phones
3. I remember that the screen size of HTC sensation ce 4.3 like s2 but for sure the s2 screen is better in all ways , Bec of the super amoled plus technology vs LCD
4.s2 is lighter and thinner than sensation but you may see the HTC build is better but I think the s2 plastic is very strong and perform well if the phone dropped and also in scratch

Hi guys,
I know this is a strange fight, but I own a Nexus One and I'm somewhat bored about the hardware limitation (low internal memory), issues (bad touch panel with axis inversion), and no official HTC Sense support (if not with my ROM, even though not perfect).
The thing is... I love Android BUT I want the speed of Windows Phone!
Now, I'm assuming that the One S is a great improvement over previous gen phones, and so Android 4.0 could fly.
But I'm not sure because I haven't touched it yet.
Also the plus of the One S is its camera!! I love taking GREAT photos, while on vacation, with my phone.
Does the HTC Radar offers me almost the same thing as the One S?
I'm skeptical about it and that's why I'm asking you this question
Thanks!
Well, IMO One S is much better than Radar (I'm radar owner) but well, it's just an opinion. Anyway, if u're able to, i'd choice Titan instead of radar as well as it has much higher screen than radar does.

Hey thank you for the quick response!
The thing is that I don't like BIG phones... The One S is the maximum in terms of size which I can "afford"
And I like also his thinness!
Well, as u wish then...
U'd have to choice between Android and WP, that's a hard choice.
But hey, I love One S, so, there's no prob.
BTW u should check Titan's screen before giving a reponse, it's an amazing screen and it's not as big as it looks when u're using it...
are there any other choices in ur mind?
Nope.. only this 2 choice
I'll decide later. As of now there's a promotion for the Radar @ 199€, while One S costs around 450€
U'll have to choice urself.
They're 250€ of difference but well... I've Radar since February and I installed custom rom this saturday. I just want to have a new phone, I don't like Windows Phone at all. Did u read lastest Microsoft news?
If u want WP, just wait till september-october, so u'll have windows 8 instead of WP 7.5 Tango
I like windows phone 7. I love my Radar hardware and the whole OS. The camera is good, or average in today's standards.
With all that said, if you don't prefer an OS over the other, get an HTC One S.
If you prefer the UI of WP (like me) get a Radar.
Only problem with the radar is that there will be one more update 7.8 and then its over for all seced gen none wp8 devices.
Sent from my Radar C110e using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Radar has excellent low light camera performance but sucks in all other situations. Android is much better. Also go for sony devices with exmor rsensor.if u want true camera. It rocks!!
