I have download the app NTFS Mounter but it is not working with Galaxy S3.
I am able to read USB's in FAT32 format but I would like to read them in NTFS format.
Do you know if it is possible?
Problem solved.
Problem solved. If running "chkdsk" in the usb drive you find problems, it is the reason why the app can not mount correctly the drive.
You have to run "chkdsk /F" in the drive with problems and after that the app will mount the usb.
I have also tried a different app "EzyMount", the technical support of this app is who find the problem.

Is there any Custom ROM for Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G supports NTFS or EXT3?
[24.09.2011][ROM][3G][P7500][EUR] BroodComb XXKI1 V2 supports NTFS or EXT3/4?
why is there no answer to this?? is it because there's an answer somewhere else??
for which question there is an answer? I searched but I coulnt found.
I know that pershoot's kernel has this support( it says so)
But I could'n get any results. I am using overcome ROM with Pershoot's kernel, there is something to do with cifs for this. But unfortunately I couldnt find my way out with this part. Too complicated, so I asked if there is ROM that supports this file systems without doing something extra.
no external hard drive support
i might be wrong, but as far as i can tell there is no external hard drive support, i am pretty sure there is nowhere near enough power to get the drive going. it will support flash drives up to 32 GB that are formatted as ntfs. you best bet is to simply do a network share, or better still get a wireless hard drive.
Maybe we could use an active USB HUB and an external HDD or with the right external powered HDD. I tried the external drives too, but of course not enough power, and when connected my powered external HDD reader it said the disk is empty (I use Linux and ext4 everywhere, maybe it had problems to read that) - but meanwhile the device started to work strangely, I had to reboot on the end. I am also interested in this question
I've used an externaly powered hub. FAT32 worked (80GB drive). NTSF did not (500GB drive). Pershoot's kernal says NTSF support, but clearly not for external drives.
I'm not trying to connect an external HDD. I have a 32 GB USB flash memory formatted NTFS, I couldnt understand how to use Cifs manager, and I couldnt understand how insmod command works.

Thanks, good to know.
Hi all.
Please i need help reading ntfs partitions with my SG3. First of all the main question: It's possible to read and write a USB Pendrive or HDD with SG3?
I have tried NTFS Mounter without luck. A 2.5'' HDD shows power but nothing happens. A USB Pendrive is recognized by SG3 but it asks me to erase the USB Storage.
Thank you very much.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but afaik the S3 does not bring native support for the ntfs-3g driver.
However since it has the Fuse kernel-module it would (should) not be that difficult to actually get it to work.
It brings out-of-the-box support for OTG USB-adapters and seems even to be able to handle USB-hubs with several usb sticks connected.
But, as said, not NTFS; only exFat/Fat32 and Linux filesystems such as EXT2/3/4.
I was able to use a script and ntfs-3g on my SG2 and it could read ntfs without problem problem. Anyone here has tried to do the same with a SG3?
Hi there.
I think that all android devices support fat32 filesystem, the problems its the storage limitation of 4gb max per file in the sdcard.
I been trying to avoid the limitation of 4gb in all my android devices with this results, giving using different filesystems on my sdcard (ext2, ext3, exfat, ntfs...).
Galaxy s3: supports fat32 and exfat
Chinese tablet aoson m7: Suppots fat32 and ntfs
Chinese phone Lenono A760: Suppots only fat32.
Andoid its based on linux, but none of my devices recognice the sdcard with ext2 or ext3 formats.
Also I don't understand why only the chinese tablet supports NTFS. It's because they paid to microsoft so they can use that filesystem?
How it's possible that any device supports a free filesystem like ext3???
I think that I will get rid of the lenovo a760...I need to use files larger than 4gb.
thank you
Looks like you could root it and enable USB OTG support for a little pen drive or something of that sort. How often are you really going to need that many files bigger than 4 GB on your phone?

To mount ext partitions automatically, I think you also have to be rooted and run an auto-mount script (or manually via terminal commands). This is not for your phone, but provided as an example and info:

Thanks, I want to use my phone as bittorrent client, that why i need to use big files often. I'm root.
I don't have a USB OTG cable...
I have the sd card with ext4 format as primary partition and it's not working.
I think that it's not an easy way to use files biger that 4 gb in this chinese phone.
I also tried to NTFS format and this tool https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.mounter&hl=es and the phone freezes often...it's not a solution at all.
It's frustating that a chinese tablet supports perfectly ntfs and the s3 exfat, but with this phone, ther¡s no way...i been trying all day long! I gave up.
thank you anyway.
Just for the heck of it I tried the Paragon NTFS/HFS download in the Play Store today to see if NTFS read/write would work. The app needs root, and of course we thankfully have that. I had a Seagate USB 3.0 drive formatted NTFS and connected it. Since Android auto mounts on the Mojo, it auto mounted as NTFS read only. I had to unmount it, and then re-mount it with the Paragon app and choose an alternate mount point (just created a folder called "NTFS" and mounted it) and I can confirm that I can read and write to the drive. Moving files, deleting files, and copying files all worked just fine. Just a heads up. I am sure there will be a better, more translucent way of doing this down the road, but for now there does exist the possibility. I wonder if anyone knows how to stop Android from auto mounting drives when plugged in?
I confirm that your method works, thanks!
Although I could have lived without the writing option enabled, it sure is nice being able to delete files I don't need on the fly.
I found that stock rom sucks in regards RW for external drives and doesnt allow it in exfat or NTFS the solution for me and others was installing CM12 rom instead of stock, now my drive has normal RW funtion without having to use an app to mount it
not I can use my 5TB drive
Hi Guys,
i have the Tab S 10.5 and rooted it.
No i tryed to get a NTFS HDD to run. So i installed Paragon NTFS ... and i have a external HDD with own power adapter. Furthermore i bought a USB - HUB also a own power adapter. The Paragon app find the harddisk an i can click on mount, but nothing happened even if i try to click on automatic mount or own manual folder choose. It is doing something, say that the HDD is mounted, but in the menue of Paragon, it is declared as unmounted. The same in StickMount, it says the HDD is mounted to folder XY, but there is nothing inside .
Is anyone able to mount external HDD's?
NTFS isn't supported officially. I had to format my microsd card into exfat to get it to work.
Stickmount should work - did u let it download the files when you first run it?
Hm yes it downloaded the files and now if i click on mount, it do it but in the folder there is no file from the harddisk, i tried it with a 1tb and 3tb disk.
Furthermore i can check and repair the disks and the tool is saying everything is fine, but i cannot se anything in the folder where it is mounted.

Tried with my Ntfs flash drive - same on stock and stickmount. Formatted to exfat, works on both.
Guess Samsung changed something that broke stickmount as well.

I got my NTFS drive working using Paragon_NTFS for non-rooted mounting and then opened it with Total Commander. Going the Paragon rooted way didn't work for me either.

Doesn't the app require root?

Paragon the app does require it. But the company Paragon also developed a plugin for Total Commander. I was going to post the link but I'm under 10 posts for the forum so I can't.
Anyways just search "USB plugin for Total Commander" or Paragon and that all should come up. You need Total Commander as well but it does not require root.

Total Commander with the plug in Paragon NTFS work fine on my LG G2
