For grouping apps I'm using Nova Prime launcher and you can create different launcher tabs for what ever you like.
I believe the camera tone issue is legally motivated, in some places it is illegal to de-activate the camera sound I believe so I think this is why you can't turn it off from the settings, if you flash a custom ROM there is usually an option to turn it off (with a warning) but on stock ROMS usually not.
Hope that helps,
R.
Which launcher do u use?

If its touchwiz,there os an option to create a folder in the homescreen and drawer, just long click choose add to home screen and select folder, for the drawer clock on the menu button when in drawer mode, it will give u an option ro hidde aps amd also create folders...for the camera sound, root it...

I'm using touchwiz. I found out the option that you can create a folder in the homescreen but I was hoping to group the apps in the menu and not just hide them.
I also rooted my phone yesterday but I couldn't find anything to disable the camera tone. I guess l'm gonna have to install another launcher and see if sorts out.
Anyaway thanks,

I haven't (yet) rooted my phone, but I can take "shutter sound" away. You need to tick your volume rocker to minimize system sounds to silent. Then you can take pictures without shutter tone. Just remember put vol back up after.

Hello,
Is there any way to get rid of that ******* hold button on freex10 . i have pressed it like numerous times and it wont take long before i really bang my head on the wall .
Can we replace the phone apk ( i dont know what it is really called , Dialer app?)
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Two things, is the proximity sensor on the phone working? IE, does the phone screen black out when u put it up to your face?? If NOT, that is the main issue.
Two, you can go into settings and change the layout of the dialer for left or right handed and move the hold button away from your face!
Hope this helps,
Chris

Haven't run z's rom since first beta, but on other aosp based 2.2's its there n on my 6.1.1cm rom I just looked it up..... hmmm, I am stumped... hit android market, should have a dialer option or two!!

i can CONFIRM that the settings ARE in FreeX10 Beta 4.
Go to your homescreens -->> press menu -->> settings -->> call settings -->> check left-hand mode (2nd last before "other call settings") -->> reboot
I have the same problem with the same rom. Yesterday I lost half of my story because of this . Changing the settings is not an option because I tend to switch sides a lot during a call. Might try another dialer.

Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the screen turning on when receiving an SMS? I would really like to disable this if at all possible.
not sure if it's what you're looking for but if you install sms popup (which is a fantastically simple app) it's one of the many options that you can configure ...
hope this helps ...
This didn't prevent the screen from turning on. The basic SMS app seems to still turn it on.

the way this normally works, is you install handcent which does have this option. then you go in and disable to stock messaging app completely, so that only handcent or your replacement choice controls text behavior.

What you'll notice is that even if you disable the notifications on a the standard messaging app, the app still runs in the background as it's also handling all the incoming DB writes from what I can tell. Samsung re-wrote the messaging app which always runs (and can't be removed) and in this app is the control to turn the screen on. That's why I can't figure out how to disable it without breaking SMS functionality altogether.

Might be a late reply, but did it work ? Trying to get an Mms.apk for Galaxy S1, that doesn't turn the screen on.
Does anyone know if an App exists that changes the volume setting to vibrate? I'm not asking for a toggle widget, I want an actual app. The reason is I'd like to be able to set my phone to vibrate from the Sense 3.0 lock screen and it doesn't allow me to install a widget. Ideally, I'd also like to have it lock the phone again after it has changed the volume setting.
UPDATE: I decided to make my own app that did this. The app will toggle the sound profile between normal and vibrate. You can launch it from the lock screen or anywhere else. I've attached it to this post. Please be easy on me as it's my first ever Android app.

Try Audio Guru. If I understood you correctly, it should work for your needs
Neither of those are what I'm looking for. I want an app that acts like a widget. All that the app would do is change the sound profile.

I started down that path, but I opted to let it unlock the phone. The reason is that you have to press the power button to turn on the screen anyway. When I want to quickly turn on vibrate, I hold the phone with my right hand on the power, use my left to unlock with vibrate, then just power off the phone with my right hand. Make sense?
If you ask nicely, maybe I'll make you a new version that locks the screen
Great job, great app....thanks
So I'm having trouble finding a good way to lock the screen from my application. It seems as though only system apps have direct access to lock the screen. So far I've tried the following with no success:
Code:
KeyguardManager keyguardManager = (KeyguardManager) getSystemService(Activity.KEYGUARD_SERVICE);
KeyguardLock lock = keyguardManager.newKeyguardLock(KEYGUARD_SERVICE);
lock.disableKeyguard();
and
Code:
PowerManager manager = (PowerManager) getSystemService(Activity.POWER_SERVICE);
manager.goToSleep(0);
Any suggestions?
Is there a way to have it tying at full volume instead of staying quiet or am I just missing a stupid setting somewhere?

I've seen a lot of people talking about it and posting. I'm in the same boat missing calls. Someone needs to find a way to make it ring louder. This sucks.

There's an app called disable increasing ring in the playstore it's free and I can confirm that it's working. I'm on stock deodexed rom.
Yup i'm using disable increasing ringtone from the play store. Doesn't required root access either.
That app sits on the notification page for me and I can't get past it no matter what i do.
go to setting >> more >> application manager >> All >> Disable Increasing Ring >> Uncheck Show notifications

or long press notification go to app info then disable notifications
I'm bringing this back I'm afraid
For us rooted folk, has anyone figured out how to fix this without an app, or how to do what that app does manually perhaps?
I know that for the i9000 for those with deodexed roms there was a fix involving edits to the phone apk I believe.
WANAM
If you have root, wanam xposed has a feature for this as well. It also has a lot of stuff and can change a lot of touchwiz. My notification bar is totally themed out, and I changed a lot of other stuff, mostly under the hood. You need xposed though, and it is on the play store.
Now that sounds interesting. I have to use XPOSED for another issue. I'll have to check it out then. Thanks
Not only did it work, but it gave me a windows to a few other tweaks I had on the itinerary . Cheers! :highfive:
Hi.
First of all, thanks to abhi922 for this great ROM. It is really light and cute.
I've read the thread in Development section, and I know how difficult it was to implement the lockscreens in this ROM, so it can be a little ironic that I want to disable them entirely, and even remove them to get a little more space. I can not find a way to disable them from the Simplicity options, it just let me choose between locks. It is possible to get rid of the them?
The other question is whether there is any way that the volume buttons do not wake up the screen. I use a lot the music player (PowerAmp), and I don't like having to turn off the screen every time I go up or low volume. I`ve read that PowerAmp don't do this, but in my case, it does.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have activated the toggle in the status bar. But is there anything more ... permanent? Do not know if it's normal, but I have to use the lockscreen toggle every time my phone restarts. It seems to work much like the "no lock" app: does not disable the lockscreen, only prevents it activates.
So I wanted to know if it is possible to get rid of the lockscreen, or is that Android simply does not allow it, and now I have to spend the rest of my life (or more like... phone life) inactivated it every time I turn on the phone. I know it is not that bad, but well... yep.
Ok, I think I've made it (at least disable screen wake from volume keys, for lockscreen I'm still using "no lock" until I find another way to get rid of it)..
I found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086526) and downloaded the file in the first post, but doesn't work for me. It seems that disabled lockscreen and avoid volume keys to wake up screen are not compatible. You have to choose one -_-
But reading the rest of the thread get me this idea and it works:
I've open /system/usr/keylayout with my root explorer and edited all the files that have VOLUME_UP and VOLUME_DOWN on them (in my case, bcm_headset.kl, qwerty.kl, sec_key.kl and sec_keypad.kl).
The thing is that you have to delete the word WAKE from each VOLUME_UP and VOLUME_DOWN that you find.
Mi lockscreen is desactivated (with "no lock" app) and my screen doesn't wake up anymore with the volume keys AT ALL
Thanks to DocRambone and aydc for the ideas. And to Hitesh2626 for your attention.
