Hi,
Ok, don't waste time trying to build AOSP on Windows. On your VirtualBox just install Ubuntu and then you're almost prepared. Get report tool and start playing.

Hi,
Hope to be useful for this forum...
I know the function of the kernel in Android. However when a specific device is considered, there is also a "platform" to build. My question is: What are platform files for and how do the built kernel and platform interact on the device?
Thanks in advance.

Apologies in advance as I am just new to Android ROM development and still trying to get my head round how it works.
I've got a build environment set up which allows me to compile and run the boot to Gecko emulator. In theory, fingers crossed, that should allow me to compile Android.
If I can compile Android. Would I be able to put that on my phone and it would run or would I need to get the device drivers for my phone and merge them with the compiled Android image?
