[Q] Which ROM? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Tab 10.1 comes tomorrow, I have download all the rooting stuff and aokp b38 and Task 14 rom..
Which do you think I should install? Which gives best performance etc (I know aokp doesnt have camera yet until official ics is leaked/released)

Questions go in the Q&A section
Also, if this descends into squabbling I will have no qualms about closing this thread.

Sorry :O

If you don't mind living without a camera, I like CM9 since it seems more stable than AOKP. For Honeycomb, Galaxy Task was a good mix of features and performance, but if you want purea performance, try the Starburst ROM.

[Q] Good ROM for Galaxy S i9000?

New to ROMs and stuff! I am currently on (Gingerbread) DarkyROM JVQ v10.2 on my i9000 Galaxy S. I used Launcher Pro just fine for months, but using TouchWiz 4.0 for the past week or so. The phone freezes a lot of reboots itself heaps! My phone is starting to clutter now, so I want to re flash a fresh ROM. I need something that is gingerbread, looks great and is super fast. I was thinking about the MIUI. Someone please gimme some ROMs that would work from my current ROM/kernel etc.
Thanks heaps!
miui rom is better for theme and appearance but for good battery back go for stockwares like jvs etc..and in custom roms amestris is best for battery bsck up.plus go for darky if battery drain is not an issue..

Tip: Galnet MIUI
A ROM I learned to love (on my Defy, no experience on the Galaxy S, but it will probably run even better on the Galaxy S) is Galnet MIUI: http://galnetmiui.co.uk/landing/download/
Looks great, runs stable and smooth, relatively good battery life, multi language. And MIUI has a great community behind it (Updates weekly, many themes you can install easily).
I have been using Darky's Rom on my i9000, I tried several but finally settled on Darky's. The final quality, speed and reliability are great for my international travels. CM7 took a bit too long getting to it so I never bothered. Although there may be something newer and better as I haven't looked in over a month, I have been focusing my attention on sprint gs2.

[Q] What is the Best custom ROM for WiFI version retail TAB?

I need the camera so unfortunately I can't use CM9 yet. What is currently the best performing ROM out there (WiFi version). Not looking for anything fancy, just good performance, minimal lag etc etc.
I know this is a very subjective question.
Wow, I'd have thought there would be lots of opinions on this question!
Galaxy Task and Overcome seem to be the two most popular 3.2 ROMs, I've been running Galaxy Task for about a week now and it runs really well.
If you cannot do without the Camera I would recommend the Overcome ROM together with Pershoots over clock kernel. Been using these for the past two weeks without problems.

You'll have to try both of those and see which one performs the best for you.
As per me, Galaxy Task will be my first choice.
Overcome is also good.
Try BinDroid also if you want.
If you are fine with camera not working, you can flash CM9 Kang ROMs.
I'm running TASK 10 its relatively fast and smooth over 3000 on bench mark (OC'D) and some specific bloat meets my everyday needs. Depends what your fancy is !
Happy flashing !

Which ROM for which purpose?

Which roms (or rom families, really) are best for which purposes? I know some are designed to be fast and lightweight, while others go for the richest user experience, or other specialized purpose/situation.
My question is how can I find out the aim of the various roms?
The rom threads focus mostly on features provided and what rom family (if any) they based it on. Since I have no idea the aim of the original rom family (aokp, cm, miui, etc.) it's hard to decide which one is right for me.
Which player do you have?

Stock ROMs, which most of the customs ROMs out there are based on, are probably the most stable but the performance won't be as good.
CM7 and CM9 are slim and super fast, while MIUI, which is Cyanogen-based, has a bit more eye candy at the cost of performance. AOKP is very similar to CM9, except as far as I know the team has added many tweaks and features to make the experience more pleasant. Both are good choices if you're looking for ICS.
Hope this clears up some of the questions you may have
Thanks, Klin. That's exactly the sort of info I'm looking for.
and I'm running the USA 5.0, fgcu. It was either this or an ipad, and avoiding itunes was worth the extra $20 (ipods were on sale that week).
If you are looking to install a rom, I recommend what I have listed down below. The dev of the rom is currently updating it to 2.3.6 and I can't wait for it. It will deffinitely fix the wifi drop bug and a slightly better Gingerbread version. You do need to install a custom rom though and the one below is also a good one too.

This was my rom of choice back when I was running GB. In my opinion it is the most stable rom available for the Player 5.0. This rom is pretty fast and light as it is based on a stock GB rom.
I would also recommend this rom as it is also very stable.
For general use I would say use GB as everything works, but you can also get ICS roms if you want but all of the ICS roms in the development section have pretty major issues e.g. the camera does not work. Take a look in the development section and read the user comments/reviews/bug reports

CM7 vs. CM9

Is CM9 better than CM7 or are they about the same and what features does CM9 have that CM7 doesn't?

Well as forum surfing, found this. Yes, there is a difference. Cm9 is faster, has more features such as FFC unlock, a better overhauled ui, its faster, more user friendly in my opinion, and it has more customizable options in custom rom. If you want a good ROM, cm9 is good.

+1 for CM9, but it really depends what you're looking for. Granted, I've only tried AOKP ICS M6 so far, but I was on GB for a long time so I can feel the difference pretty well. If you're looking for bleeding edge and you don't mind a few hiccups and glitches every once in a while then go with CM9 based roms, but if you need rock solid stability then I'd say the CM7 roms are better suited. Don't forget that Jelly Bean (CM10) roms are already out and coming along quite nicely... I just can't upgrade myself until I get a new sd card.

[Q] Just Got An Atrix - What Is the Best Vanilla CM9 ROM?

So, I'm not an Android N00B or even a CyanogenMOD N00B -- I'm just a Motorola N00B. I've been hacking CM9 on HTC and Samsung phones for years so I don't need any "how-to" help.
I've gone through the forum here and I can't make heads or tails about what the general consensus is about different ROM's.
I don't need (or even want, really) Jelly Bean so I'm looking for a pretty vanilla (but solid) CM9 ROM.
Also, are there any issues with different radios and call quality? I ran into that a lot on the T989 (TMobile Galaxy S2) and I'd like to avoid it if I can.

Performance, working features and stability have come along way since cm9. I'd be looking at epinter's cm10 or cm10.1. But there are camera / video camera issues with all including cm9. If you want cm and with all things working then it would be cm7. Once we have a new kernel the cm9/10/10.1 roms will finally be fully optimized.

ICS ROMs based running on the leaked kernel are pretty good too, and include all the features except fingerprint reader and Lapdock support, the cons may be the battery life (Sometimes problematic AFAIK) and stability (Only for a little handful of users).
There is a CM10 ROM based on the leaked kernel but it's no longer under development, I think you'll prefer using ICSrom in that case.
