[help] Getting gingerbread camera onto ICS - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I am trying to get the gingerbread camera onto ICS, tried different methods, uninstall the stock ICS cam, restore the old cam from gingerbread through nandroid and so on.
Still the old cam from gingerbread will not show up.
I do not currently have the gingerbread camera APK, but all in the my old nandroids backups.
I am extraction from nandroid with titanium backup, but where does the files then?
-After extraction from nandroid, does it placed somewhere without installing? Cus i thought it always did..
maybe someone else have the old apk? share?
Maybe someone did the magic with APKTOOLS already?

I'm sorry but this is not possible.. just replacing apks won't work.. it needs porting and I don't think that someone will do it..
If I get this right..you want to extract an application with titanium backup? Titanium backups the app and it's only possible to restore it..not extract it..
Although you can extract the nandroid backup itself. Search in Google for unyaffs and you will find the program. It's easy to use. You just drag the system.img(or data) and it extracts it..

Thanks, i was actually sitting looking at unyaffs when u posted.
And i fond this thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26839030
I will try

Can you pls share the gingerbread camera app
I also need to port the gingerbread camera app. Can you pls share it

I don't think this is possible, even if you manage to port the apk to GB (which is no easy task), it won't help you at all, image quality isn't defined by the camera apk, it's defined by libs and porting libs is REALLY hard because there are no sources.

APPS from 2.2 AOSP to 2.1 AOSP

Hi, got a little question..
just want to know if you can use standard apps from 2.2.1 (like camera, and messages)
to include then in 2.1 rom?
like take the libcameraservice.so etc. and the apk from /system/app and replace them with
the ones from a 2.2.1 ROM
could it work?
thx
Not sure it will.. Often the camera is annoying at this point.. Why don't just flash a 2.2-rom? Then you will be able to use more of the "new" android functions as the push-messages/chrome-to-phone things?

yeah i'm using 2.3 atm, but i want to obtain some knowledge about the system and try some things on an older ROM before messing with newer stuff noticed the camera being hard, don't even know if they'll fix it

[Q] Can someone provide me original Notes.apk, Stopwatch.apk and Timescape?

I've installed a custom ROM but these are the apps that I really need now. Can someone post them here, so I don't have to reflash again?
I have Notes.apk
Thank you! And I also need the camera. I can't do videos anymore, only photos
http://www.mediafire.com/?dh19mvmr597e8xd
thank dr norton
have any of you actually got any of these apps to work on a custom rom? I've never seen or heard of it...how...if I just put the original, signed apps in system/app and change permissions and rest, they never work.....
i used some off the stock SE when i used froyobread by stelios97
camera,timescape,trackid,and a few others i cant remember
i just deleted the app in the custom rom,and put the stock SE in, and the installed the rom
So some of this worked on Froyo? That's good to know. Though, if it doesn't work on GingerB, probably not Ice Cream S. Thanks for telling us though.
Maybe i was just lucky, but again i didnt install them or set permissions, i put them in the custom rom, maybe that why it worked, same with new market i replaced that also in the rom and put old market back
on poul-xxx sonybread 2.3.5 i replaced the custom camera with SE stock camera not the SE apk but one SE you install with xrecovery ,i got some issues with video but that i dont use,so camera it worked fine for me
Also put trackid on this rom worked fine
Hi, sorry to bother you again, bug you again, but how did you put them in the rom if not by root explorer? Whatever you did, I'll try too!
Thanks!
No problem i did it this way
1.Download the rom
2.Open it with rar, dont extract it
3.Go to system/app
4.Remove the apk you dont want
5.Then copy/move the SE apk in system/app
6.when done close it and run the rom
7. If everything goes well you should se the SE stock on the rom
but again mabye i was just lucky
This works! I've got some working and I'll try to get more.....thanks!
happy i could help you

Have you got the original Timescape working on a custom rom, and if so how (please could you provide full instructions please ?) ? THANKS!
I haven't tested the Timescape at all, I never liked that one a lot!
If you go to the apps section of the forum, I've seen many threads for Timescape fans which puts it on your custom rom.

Is it possible if i copy framework-res.apk from stock rom with root explorer????
Sorry,I don't have one.
I'm not a developer so i can't tell you if its possible with copying framework-res.apk
Using a 2.1 framework-res.apk would cause all kinds of problems, including stopping your phone from working.
It is theoretically possible to take the old SE lockscreen from stock 2.1 and put it onto this rom. Essentially you need to take the various smali, xml and png files that define it from the old rom and use them to overwrite the sliding tab files in the new rom.
If you just want the look, you may be better off theming the sliding tab lockscreen with the images from the original.

What if I copy framework-res.apk from sony style v1.1 ROM (2.3.7).... would it also cause any problem??
Sorry I am a noob
Well, you can try but there's a good chance it might not work.
Framework-res.apk contains a whole mess of files that define how your phone's interface works. It controls the layout of various elements and does all kinds of things.
Both rom's use GB and CM7 so that's promising, but you could have a few display issues.
In fact, now that I think about it, you're also going to need the services.jar as well as that's where the lockscreen smali file is kept.
Certainly, give it a try but just be prepared for it to go wrong. Make sure you backup first!
Or, why not try just using SonyStyle instead?

The rom may have some bugs. Ask the rom developer whether the solution has been provided or else ask him to make one.
There are many camera apps on google play but afaik none of the apps behaves/works like stock camera app.
You can try replacing the camera application of your custom rom with the stock rom. You can get more information on Google as well as XDA.
If still it doesn't solve, flash stock rom and use.
Where is Stock Camera App?

I don't own your device.
If you have taken backup of your /system of your stock rom, you can get the apk file. If it has odex file, make sure you deodex it before replacing the file. Read tutorial at Google and XDA on how to deodex the apk.
Orelse if you have not got stock backup, browse through your device's specific forum on xda and there you get that stock rom or any other custom which is stable and bug free camera app. Download the best and use it.
P.S. There is a dedicated thanks button. You can use it to thank anyone on xda.

V30 apps zip

I've extracted all the apps from a V30 dump I've not tried to install them on my V20 yet but let me know if you find some nice ones.

It would be nice if someone can port the stock launcher with app drawer to a rootless v20.
They released a reworked stock launcher with app drawer on the v30, and we are still running something that belongs to the android Lollipop days.

Let's hop so.
The stock lg v20 apps need an update.
Samsung does a better job at this, they post all their apps on APKmirror, I remember having the s8 launcher, messages app, phone app... installed on my note 5 via apkmirror.
LG's software team is like 2 guys who spend most of their day trying to figure out how to make lg's skin like samsung. (and badly failing at it).
Also, if you read the review, everyone is praising the lgv30 as being the new underdog and whatever, the same as it was with the v20. Non of these reviewers actually use an LG phone, because none of them says anything about the POOR software support. It's terrible.
I know I might not post on topic but anyone know where can I find lg calander and lg clock?
Or someone can post it please
Thx
Would it be possible to install any of these apks in collaboration with the V20 stock apps?
For example; install V30 music player but keep the V20s stock player intact?

Maybe... If you can change the name of the APK. But even then it might have dependencies. Might butt heads

Hmm, I see.. Perhaps it would be possible to backup the stock V20 app in Titanium Backup and then replace with a V30 variant.

Don't know if that will work. Being you have doubles going on and conflicting. Doesn't hurt to try. What's the worst you can do.. won't open, force close..... Try adding a number to file and APK, anything that can create a double just change name by adding number, like, lgcam2 would be the V30. That way it doesn't conflict. Just a thought.

Most like this would require one of the apk versions (v20 or v30) to have edits to the android-manifest of a decompiled apk. Reason being the package name of the apk's rarely change, even it the name of the app does.
So if you included both versions in the system, even if they were named differently, the system would get overloaded when it calls for a package and gets two answers.
Now l if the v30 apk's have new package names this could work without major edits. One way to check the package name is by using Tib and click on the app in question from the list. Then click on the section shown in the screenshots.
If the package names are different, easy stuff for someone to include both version, if the are the same, then you will need someone with more advanced knowledge of modding apks. I do not suggest the later for anyone unless you really know what you're doing.
Good idea though. I may look into adding some of thes options when i have more free time.
If anyone has installed a particualr v30 app and would like to see these options available in an Aroma pa kage or similar mod, post the details and we can put something together!
i've tried the most common way, downloading the system dump. extracting and push to the directory, LgHome, LGeasyhome, and lg backup launcher. set permission and reboot. now lg launcher FC, lol. i've already made a backup of those original apk/odex and restoring them. looks like we need experience porter since copy paste method didnt work.

I am happy to see people are reading and participating in development! That's what this place is about right?
Thank you for the words!
I would like to know if anyone can confirm any of the v30 apps work and if so which ones?
I only ask because I believe the v30 is running UX6 and wouldn't thing many of any apps would work for our older version UI.
I am sure the UX6 port rom would have better luck, but I am not sure since I haven't looked much into this.
Anyways, like I said, glad to see people making backups amd experimenting with different things!
Good job guys!
Btw, how did you create the backup? Just copied the files to a know location and tranger back via recovery or adb?
Or did you create a flashable zip?
If you don't have a flashable zip for easy recovery let me know and I cam send you a template zip and quick instructions on how to create the zip in seconds from your phone.
nahh.. i had no idea about making flashable backup even adb seems little hard for me. for testing launcher i've installer third party launcher and make a copy of everything inside /system folder. and put it back once i messed something

That is one way, however can get very time intense if you are changing out a batch of files with libs, xml etc.
For that I like the zip method. I have went ahead and written a quick tutorial for how to create the flashable zip and uploaded my zip template so you or anyone who needs it.
Check this post.
Good luck and feel free to reply in that thread for any questions
Has anyone tried v30's music player?
Does it has any improvement against v20's?
So do any of these apps work? Anybody tried them?
