I dropped my phone getting out of the car awhile ago, there are some significant scratches on the bezel (in 4 places, which technically voids coverage on the new CLNR info sheets), but nothing i would consider major, like a cracked screen.
Something went wrong recently where the wifi and bluetooth quit working (tried everything software related to fix it), and I am considering sending it in for a warranty replacement.
Has anyone been charged for cosmetic damage, or know if there is a sliding scale? If they charge $100, it's probably worth it, but if they charge $300, I would rather live with no wifi and bt.
Thanks!
Well if the screen isn't shattered and the problem isn't because of the scratches then you should be fine
Its 100.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with t-mobile phone repairs.
I seem to have fried the battery circuitry in the phone. I was playing with my phone and noticed it stopped charging when I plug it into the computer. So I turned it off, plugged it into a wall charger, nothing. Then I tried swapping batteries. When I try to turn on the phone, i get an empty battery sign(even with a 80% full battery). So now I got a phone as useful as a brick.
I bought it in August, so it's still under warranty, think t-mobile will fix it? My main problem is that I also have a crack on my screen and I once dropped it in water(then dried with rice), neither problem has killed the phone and it has been working for months since the last adventure. I'm afraid that a cracked screen and/or a tripped wetness sensor will make it look like that's what killed the phone, even though it just died on own
What is the best way to proceed? Should I go to a brick&mortar store? Should I do this online? Try VISA's extended warranty? If they make me pay for a replacement phone, how much is that usually?
Might have 2 fork up 115 situation not sounding to good my boy but I sent in vibe that said att on start up an got away

Double srry
repair
the best thing for you to do is look on craigslist for a used one you can buy off someone or ebay. once that sensor has turned color and it is evidence that it got wet, all warranty coverage is null and void. don't waste your time with them. as for the store, they don't handle warranty issues.
So there is nope in them giving me a deal on a refurb vibrant[4G]? I'm on prepaid, so no incentive for them I guess.
I really like my vibrant, sad to have it finally die after all these near-death experiences
Hi! I got myself the EVO 3D, love the phone but as many had the issue,
my digitaizer was a bust. so the compeny that sold me the phone said they will replace it for me for free as part of the warrenty.
the thing is, my warrenty is just for 3 months (dont ask..)
so I need to know if after you changed the digitaizer to your EVO 3D
did the new digitaizer died on you again on some point?
I've been giving the option to get my money back.
but I love the phone so Im looking for advice.
thank you
I've changed it on my wife's evo but not on my 3D. She dropped it and it cracked. Seems to be factory quality thus far.

ty for replaying,
but it got damage by a fall.
but my question is if I change the digitaizer, can I expect the digitaizer to work fine ,if no damage like a fall or water happend to the phone, to work without suddenly dieing or acting up with no reason, like happend to me and I guess others as they got the phone, after a period of time.
I replaced my entire housing because of a screwed up digitizer about 5 months ago. Haven't had a problem with my digitizer siince.

You might have to replace the LCD which is a separate part. You can't know until you replace the digitizer first. When I did it on my wife's EVO, the screen was completely white when it booted. I could here the boot sounds and ring tone when I called it but still completely white. I asked the people I bought the digitizer from and they said to replace the LCD too. The combined price for both parts were $50 USD. They include the tools for you too.
Once I replaced both parts, the phone worked fine. Again its my wife's not mine so it hasn't gone under my scrutiny but she hasn't had any complaints. Be sure to watch at least 2 different videos on youtube on how to replace the parts.
Email this company, [email protected], and ask if they have EVO 3D parts. I found them on amazon. They will provide a link to their Amazon store if they have what you need.
Mines been good so far took it to a replace center and got it replaced and its been good

I am having some major problems with my touchscreen/digitizer.
About three months ago I dropped the phone and it cracked the screen in a few places. It was still completely usable.
In the last month, there have been some areas of the screen that have become completely unresponsive. I could usually get around this by rotating the phone, touching a different area, and then rotating it back. However the problem seems to be getting worse where larger and larger areas are unresponsive. There is now a rectangular band about one centimeter high that goes the complete width of the screen that doesn't respond to any touch, ever.
In addition to the completely dead zones on my screen, the touchscreen sometimes becomes completely unresponsive which can be fixed by locking and unlocking the screen.
I don't have a lot of money for a new phone, so I was able to live with these problems, but they're getting worse. Also, if my wife or anyone needs to borrow my phone they often find it completely unusable. In the middle of me explaining the problems and workarounds, they usually just give up.
I'm wondering if I replace the digitizer, will this problem go away? Or is there something else wrong with the phone that might not be serviceable by me? In addition to the digitizer problem, my headphone jack stopped working. If I plug anything in, nothing happens and sound continues to come out of the phone speaker. That's leading me to believe the phone has some deeper problems that I might not be able to fix, but if I can fix the screen I can live with the headphone jack problem.
My digitizer wasn't cracked, but I have the same problem. I send my phone to service and I'm waiting for response.
"Service" is not an option for me. The warranty is gone. I do not have insurance. I purchased the phone refurbished for $50. The only reason I did not replace the digitizer the moment it cracked is because the digitizer is the same price as what I paid for the phone in the first place.
Mine under warranty so I send it to motorola service centre and they replace the digitizer for me. I get it back in 2 days after sending it in.
But they flash my ROM and I'm not sure whether my phone still unlockable or not.
Btw, I have read a lot of atrix user with digitizer issue. It send common for our phone. You can easily spot few threads showing you how to replace the digitizer.

Soooo, I hate to bring back a dead thread, but I figured it was better than starting one of my own.
My Atrix recently had a sudden impact of its own. Cosmetically, it is still perfect. The touchscreen no longer responds though.
Phone still works. It receives calls, text, syncs with email, changes volume, etc. The touchscreen just wont respond to any of my fingers lol.
My question to Ovitz (or anyone else) is, did you get your phone back fixed and what was the solution?
I am leaning towards the digitizer, but I just want to verify before I put money into it. There are no rattles in the phone. No crack at all. I, generally, take great care of my phones and this one looks basically like it did out of the box.
Thanks in advance!!!

You dislodged the connection for the didgitizer or broke. I suggest you replace it. There have been plenty of Q and A threads on this. Get one from eBay oem, YouTube search a how to, and take it slow.

I was going to wire tether and I plugged it up via the stock USB cable that came with it and all the sudden it started smoking and I unplugged it and my charger port is ruined. So has this happened to anyone? I just had a mouse plugged in the same port and it was working fine! So anyone have this happen to them? Also how can I do warranty? My boot loader is unlocked and says tampered cause I'm running a ROM.

Contacted AT&T. They want me to send it to HTC for them to repair. Wont they notice?? or will they just repair the charger port and send it back?

as long as your issue isnt SOFTware related, theyre supposed to repair fine.
I have heard of stories where they check the bootloader anyway, but sounds totally hardware so go for it.

Well an update. Att took the phone and it took me til the 3rd htc one replacement they sent til I finally got a working one!! Screen issues, etc. Anyway exaxtly a week after the first phone came my entire account of 4 lines got cut off!!! 3 years of paying the bill on time and no problems they marked my account as fraud and the fraud department wouldnt do anything!!! They said it was marked as fraud cause I had two insurance claims in one day on the same line.... so two of my htc ones was insurance replacements even though they were supposed to be warrenty and on top of that I don't even have insurance on any line of my account!!!!! Att got all of there phones back except for the good working replacement. I was forced to open up another account with them as they wouldnt open the other account.. they didnt charge any etfs so all of my lines recent upgrades can now upgrade again

I would be irate if this happened to me, you have no idea. My anger would know no bounds, the puny walls of the ATT store could not contain my rage, all would be lost. I commend your optimism, congrats on your upgrades.
Well store couldnt touch the account. They treated me like a criminal! Only fraud department over the phone could do anything. Which which they wouldnt

Instead of opening another thread about this, I'd thought I'd post here instead. This is all still fresh in my mind as I type this because my micro-USB port also fried on me no more than an hour ago.
Just over an hour ago I went to plug in my HTC One into the same charger I always plug it into every night and the red light indicator did not show up. I thought maybe it was not fully connected so I unplugged it and re-plugged it up close to my face to make sure I was making a proper connection. That is when I smelt something burnt. I quickly removed the cable before any more damage was done but unfortunately it was too late. I tried other cables and they all producing a burnt smell on both the phone end and the charger cable end. I charged my phone just fine to 100% the night before with no issues. I have never had an issue charging any phones in the past and never had an issue charging the phone until today. In fact, my charger is plugged into a surge protector which is even more baffling to me. Anyhow, I was able to pull the cable before any noticeable damage was done to the port but obviously damage was done since it smells burnt and won't charge my phone at all.
I will be taking this phone to ATT tomorrow afternoon after work to get a new phone. I do have insurance on my plan but they had better waive the $120 fee for a new phone and give me a brand new phone because I take immaculate care of my phone and my phone looks like it is in perfect, brand new condition (no scratches or any visible damage). I keep a case on it at all times to prevent damage and I don't mishandle the device. This is alarming to hear that other people have had this issue with an HTC One as well and makes me inclined to think that it maybe more than just a fluke accident like a surge of current.
Has anyone else had this issue with their HTC One? I've never had a phones usb port fry so this is quite new to me and I was wondering how common it is and if it is, is it more common with the HTC One?
My girlfriend's Evo fell on the floor today. The left side of the Aluminium enclosure bent a fair bit outwards, so itnot connected with the glass on that side anymore. But that's all external damage we could find so far.
The thing is: Mobile network is gone completely. No Signal and the phone cannot connect at all.
Wifi still works. Does anyone here have enough knowledge about the Evo's internals to tell me if there's any hope with repairing the phone?

Sounds like there is an internal crack on the mainboard from the fall. Anything can be repaired but the fix would require replacing the mainboard or if you have insurace return phone to s-on stock and make a claim. If no insurance then another phone is your best option.

Thank you for your reply.
There's no insurance. I got insurance for my own Evo, but that's not the one that fell down, unfortunately
We just gave it another try and put my gf's sim card back in and now it works again . Yesterday, we also had mobile network back, but only for a brief moment.
We'll observe it. Probably there's a loose connection now.
