[Q] Camera Switching Question - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I've looked on the forum and haven't seen this one yet.. I decided to play around with the camera and video tonight. We have good thunderstorms going on right now with lots of Lightning. Thought I would get lucky and get a great shot. Well Anyways, I switched to video and started recording but I can't find how to switch back to just camera. Anyone got any idea???? Sorry if this is posted somewhere and I missed it!
Oh and while I'm at it.. Geo-Tag'ing is turned on by default I did cut that off..

GPS Status

I Just wanted to write a short thread to let everyone know about my experience with the GPS of this phone. I to like everyone else have always had major issues with the GPS on this phone. Sometimes with little to no connection at all. Sometimes I would get a good connection for like 5 minutes and then would lose it for hours unless I did a reboot which then it would start all over again.
I found the thread GPS hardware fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878970 which gave me a ton of useful info. I flashed the s.gps file which worked great but did not always give me a good connection. I took it a step father and did the actual hardware tweak where you open your phone and bend the little copper antenna up. That worked awesome as well so I took it to the next level and opened my phone again and placed a small piece of credit card plastic under the antenna to keep it propped up. I had a wonderful connection at most times but it looked almost like I had a buffering problem or something as I would drop connection for a few seconds at a time and then it would reconnect, not really sure what the deal was.
I opened my phone to check things out once again and the credit card plastic had fallen down. I went to fix it and snapped the little copper piece off which I was fairly warned about. So I read on in the thread and wanted to try the solder method. I happen to work with a guy that used to work on circuit boards and soldering and what not so I asked him if he could give it a shot, he couldn't make it any worse.... After he a made the small round ball of solder I put everything back together and booted up... I have never had such accurate GPS. I drove home yesterday and ran GPS test all the way home and it tracked me between 14-17 feet accuracy. It has constantly stayed that way for days now. I have gone from 2.2 roms, to 2.2.1 and 2.3.4 and each one, after applying the proper fixes for each rom (GPS files) has maintained amazing GPS results. I recommend anyone with any soldering skills to try this and see what kind of results you get. I was super worried at first about breaking my phone forever but I couldn't be happier that I went thru with it.
I know I know... everyone is going to want me to post screen shots. That is my next step I will be taking some of my accuracy and uploading them over then next day or so for anyone to check out. If you have any questions about anything I have done or any help please feel free to PM me or post on here. I will help you with anything I can, And please remember this is a thread of my personal experience with the vibrant GPS. This is not my fix, all the credit goes to Plato56 for being the first one to try this and KWKSLVR for posting the hardware fix thread. And everyone involved in the vibrant community for your input, posts, ideas and help. That is the only reason I even attempted this. Good luck if you decide to give it a shot!

Thanks for your personal experience and I am happy that you recovered successfully. Kudos, to ya and how you overcame that challenge.
Could you post some photos of the area of the phone with the cover removed to show the after work and to give your experience more detail?

may i ask which files did you use on the 2.3.4 jvq? i too had the same issue and came up with the same solution, thing is on gingerbread rroms its wont lock for some reason while on 2.2.1 it works instantly with no fixes or anything
As soon as I get home (Im at work) when I am around my camera I will take pictures of the inside of my phone so everyone can see.
For the JVQ....I am afraid I have not done that one yet. I am on JVP Simply_Honey_4.0_Revo rom right now. I just got done downloading Trigger Redux 15 and I am going to try that out next. Maybe I should skip to Revolutionrom JVQ and check it out though and see how the gps is.
SP v4 is JVQ.

Wow!. What Fn planet are you from, moron? OEMs get most of their kernel fixes, etc from the genius of xda. Not much reason for you to be here. Go along now.

such a son of a *****, if you don't like it here, go somewhere else.
Please dont flame on thread. If you dont like it move on
well whatever ill just try sh v4 and see what comes of it
Simply Honey v4 worked great for GPS. I am now on Trigger Redux build 15 and GPS is the same, outstanding.
I totally agree with the OP regarding the gps working on Vibrant. I did exactly the same steps and i have no issues. I'm using Tard 2.1 rom from Team Whiskey and i found in the Market an application called GPS Boost which seems to increase the gps signal.
I think getting satellite locks using GPS Test and GPS Status works for most users on the CM7 or 2.3.4 GB ROMS. My phone was getting 8/12 or even sometimes 10/12 satellite locks within a few seconds with just the gps fixes included in those ROMS. The question is how is the GPS working with Google maps or even Mapquest? that's where you would see the major flaw in the GPS, at best it would just give you a general idea of where you were.
On 2.2 ROMs or even the one I'm using now Bi-Winning V3 (2.2.1), the mapping accuracy is spot on even as to which lane on the highway I'm using.
This is after running maps for about 7 seconds

[Q] ...to buy or not to buy...?

Helllo
i want to buy evo 3d and i've red some posts here and some other sites about it
and i understand that there"s
a lot issues...failing 3d,crashing when trying to take photo, overheating, poor audio quality, disconectng from network/or low coverage....and so on.And i was wondering-will all this issues can be fixed wiith some update or it's better to wait and buy a later build phone.
Thank you in advance.
No problems with my phone. Still on my original.
Sent from my HTC Evo 3D.
iwhen did you bought it?i mean:is your phone from the first released phones or it's later ver??
i think you should wait til next friday to check out the new epic touch 4g before you make a decision. That way you can compare them both right in the store.
I bought it right away. Remember, everyone will post to say they have problems, but most won't post to say everything's great.

My only complaint has been the light leakage around the bottom due to the intensely bright LEDs. But I'm rooted and someone posted how to turn down the lights so all is well now. The phone is awesome. I have 70 apps downloaded all on the phone that are moveable to the SD card and still have 335.19 MB of the 1.15 GB available. This phone is fast and fun. Get it and don't look back.
Love my 3D
I've had issues with call quality but tweaks to various kernels have made call quality a bit better... Overall sound quality such as music, movies or videos sound great!! Buy the phone, you won't regret it...
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I've had no issues with mine, but since its right around the corner, you should just wait and see what samsung has to offer next week. I'm going to do the same, and might even possibly make the switch if Im that impressed.
I've had mine since 6/25 and I am completely satisfied.
Haven't had a single problem yet.

I had to answer as I was just looking at Camera Zoom FX immediately before I saw this post. It looks very good to me, and I have read several very good write-ups on it.
I have decided to buy, but perhaps someone is already using it??? and they might like to comment.

Problems with autofocus.

Hello everyone,
My first thread here. I wanted to get you guys feedback on a problem I'm having with autofocus on the camera of my Evo 4G LTE. It seems like more than half the time I'm trying to take a picture the autofocus is going crazy and won't focus at all and leaves me with a blurry unfocused screen and he only way to get it to focus is for me to close the camera app and reopen it. I haven't found a way to turn off continuous autofocus. I was wondering if any of you had this problem with the camera or was it just me? If so what workarounds have you tried?
I've tried clearing the camera app data but that really did nothing for me. Any suggests would be nice, thanks!
I do not have this issue. Ive had to fight with it on rare occasion but thats just when it was focusing on something far away when i was trying to get a close up shot. im sure theres a way.

That's funny.. all this time i thought i was the only one having this same problem. Closing and re-launching the app works for me as well. its a bit inconvenient, but it doesnt happen all the time.
This happened to me. Took it to sprint and they gave me a NIB.
Sent from my EvoKnievel
Yea happens to me also. Even in video lots of times it will get blurry and never recover ..

Yeah it fixes by closing and reopening but there have been times when I've missed a picture because I had to close the app and reopen it.

NIB means new in box or something else?
I had the same problem with my pre order phone. Returned it to best buy and got a new one with a flickering screen. Lol when I went to best buy I told the guy I was having problems with it he said with what the non focusing camera the flickering screen or the red pictures. That's pretty bad when they already know what the problems are a couple weeks after pre orders went out. I posted a YouTube video with the focus screwing up but I can't post a link to it yet.

I had this problem.
Go in development section and look for HQ camera or something. It's a defective camera apk mine was fixed and worked perfectly afterwards. enjoy

If will focus lock if you're holding the camera button in the focus detent. I tested this myself, stuck it close to my keyboard and let it focus, then moved to focus on my TV, and then back to my keyboard and held the button in focus for a second or two while moving back to my TV and it didn't focus when I released the button till I went and pointed it at my keyboard again, then it started focusing again, and it focused on my TV after that.
BTW, what hardware revision is your phone? Mine is 003.
My wife's release date phone had this issue. If you focus on something close it wont refocus at any other focus length. I ended up returning it for a NIB one and never saw the issue again.
No it didn't matter what you did once it locked in it wouldn't auto focus at all unless you backed out and then back in. I don't know what rev it was since it was taken back to best buy about a week after I got it. I even tried other camera apps and it did the same thing. Even the autofocus clicking sound was a substantial popping sound. It was louder than the phone I have now.

Also i Just tested the holding down the detent to hold the focus. It didn't work for me as soon as I moved it refocused.

I just tap on the screen to refocus if I have a problem (area I want in focus).
Seems like the focus works half the time, the other half it just sits there blurry and won't focus no matter if I try click on the screen somewhere or take a picture. The only way I've been getting it to focus is by reopening the camera app and sometimes even that doesn't work. I think I'm going to exchange it tomorrow.

I bought the phone on July 1st from Best Buy and it's still under the 30day warranty.
Would you guys characterize the issue like this to some extent?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710876
I went and traded in my old one today. Thankfully it went smoothly and I got one without the update! So far the autofocus on this one works perfectly. Will keep you all updated.
good luck ^
I'm considering taking mine into a Sprint store to have them look at it. I dont have TEP, I'm outside of my 30 day window, rooted, and S-Off.
I wonder if they're going to give me a hard time.

LG G5 Camera issues

HI. I'm new to this stuff so sorry if there already is topic where I can ask my question, and sorry for my bad english, I'm from Croatia. I have my LG G5 for less than a month, and I just cant seem to get a great video. When I take pictures, they are perfect, but when I record a video, no matter what the surrounding is, its okay, but its not great as I expected... For example, I was in Vienna last weekend and I was recording beautiful park, it was normal sunny day. The video seems to be okay, but when Im moving left or right when recording, the sky which is blue in the video, is blurry, every time when i move camera left or right, the bright things in video are blurred I dont know what to do, is anyone else having this problem? Maybe I have to do something in the camera settings to make it better. Thank you for the answers.
post an example
I will post the video as soon as I come home from work. Can I upload it here directly from my phone? Its 52 megabytes big
