It feels weird being on a stock rom without root and no recovery. I just hope it isn't like my Mytouch 4G when trying to get s=off and root it..
I don't know what the MT4G is like, but there are definitely some hoops to jump through here. I'm using the HTC dev method to unlock, but I'm still S-ON. I use 4ext recovery to flash ROMs, and so far all is well.

Oh I didn't know you can have a recovery and still be S=On.. on the Mytouch it was very difficult to get it off because since I got mine as soon as it came out, their wasn't much development on it but that is very cool to be able to do that
Welcome.
Read thoroughly on how to root and downgrade or if you want to stay S-ON, 4EXT Recovery is the way to go.
Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that. HBOOT 1.4, yea!

As soon as you root and stuff, I'd recommend flashing a sense 4.0 Rom. It's just so much better than sense 3.0/3.6 IMO

I recommend against that, especially if you came to 3D Land for the 3D, which no Sense 4.0 ROM has. They don't have 4G either, if you are in a 4G rich area.

Well I've had ICS since April (CM9, AOKP) so I definitely have had my fair taste of the sandwich and I still have yet to root this phone. The 3d is a gimmick and i'm pretty sure I will not use it as much, and Buffalo has no 4G never did so that doesn't matter either lol. Probably going to wait some more until a fully stable and functional sense 4.0, 4.0.4 Rom comes out with all the bugs fixed. At least this will help tame my flashing addiction for now and focus on the EVO's framework and working's and etc etc so I can start porting rom's to this device. That's what i'm hoping to do anyway's Still learning though

Hi guys, i have not really been active on the forums for the last 4 months or so, but I think its time to get into it some more.
I have a knack for finding apps, either paid or removed from market at other sources, so if you are having trouble with finding whatever app it may be let me know and maybe I can help you out.
I am also having a problem of my own that I would really like help with if anyone would. I can not get internet, data, 3g, or mms on my 3d thats been flashed to metro.
Im currently running hboot 1.5 unlocked, s-off, 2.17, rooted. And yes I have tried posting in the forum that the guide was in, but unfortunatly am unable due to less than 10 posts error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just would like to put a positive interjection out there.
I have been a member here a long time on XDA, my experience with the EVO was awesome to say the least thanx to Calkuin Mikfroyo Virus Koush and many others. My experience here with the EVO3D has been ummm interesting. Waiting for root has been frustrating but as I said before I've been through a few of these rodeo's so we wait... it will not be much longer. I have custom themes, faster internet and changed my prl. Kinda reminds me of all of the crap we went through for our windows phones. I want SBC worse than ever for my phone...it'll come. Please be patient this phone has a complicated security. Teamwin will release root when its safe to use.
Htc is being held back by Sprint to not unlock your bootloader they don't want you to have free tethering, so they are in the middle of corporate politics.
Please thank your Dev's for what they have given to you. And have faith!

Don't wait for team win to release s-off because fre3Dom development has stopped. Team AlphaRev achieved s-off and they should be releasing it soon. By the way, you don't need root to tether for free either.

I'm missing s-off bad, but to be honest, this phone is great still. I know there has been a lot of whining and complaining, but at the end of the day it's a powerful phone. Full root is only going to make it that much better.

Thanks to devs, but I highly really doubt that Bootloader has anything to do with sprint or any other company. How come samsung phones never come with locked bootloaders? HTC and Moto did it because they wanted to, not because anyone made them do it.
Truth be told. If this phone never got s-off,i wouldn't lose much sleep over it. As a current flashaholic, that's how satisfied I am with it.

It made sense to me.
He's basically saying, as someone who's a flashaholic (likes to flash different roms), he's satisfied enough with the Evo 3D as it is on the stock rom. Don't know what was idiotic about it.

I live in a world of analogies. Custom ROMs are my equivalent of crack!! I'm happy to say that I've been drug free for at least 20 days....and I don't even have a desire to shoot up.

+1... I'm thoroughly amazed at my lack of desire to flash something new. I do look forward to it, but since the phone can handle it, I don't even think i'll go with cm7/8 for a long time. I do look forward to s-off for somethings though, like unlocked hotspot (although wifi tether is working great, it's nice to use the built-it), extra notification quick settings (like screen rotate!), space view weather lock screen, and maybe even some extra theming of things that skins can't touch (hopefully UOT...)
I set myself up to be in the long haul of waiting for s-off. Like many others, I came from the EVO 4G, I made my own roms and ports, but I knew that I was getting the 3d, so I stayed away from the sense 3.0 roms so when I got the 3d, the new sense wasn't 100% old news, allowing me some time of "freshness" before I got bored and wanted to flash.

There is zero proof of this... that it has been done "reliably" anyway. A video showing what could easily be two different phones doesn't do it for me. There has been no progress, no updates, no beta testers coming forward saying it actually works, nothing. I'll believe it when I see it in a downloadable file.

Same here. I didn't touch a 2.1/3.0 rom for that very reason. I wanted to keep my 3d as a new experience. Also cm7 kicked ass on my og evo.

Apparently a certain number of Sensations were shipped S-OFF. That's why you see ROMs over in the Sensation forum already.

i am looking for the links now, but i heard in a few places that a coder for cyanagen was given a s-off sensation by t-mobile. So as much as i would love to be excited over the pictures of cm7.1 on sensation, its kinda been expected.

If one rolls through ill try to pull for you guys just one question i was able to pull everything back on the vibrant using terminal commands will this work on the amaze? S-on gonna cause any issues with retrieving anything? On the vibrant i was able to get kernel and everything so a dev could easily make a flashable odin file and rom after that.

You probably already know this but.....The Sensation has like 1000 roms its ridiculous, but we have the same screen with the same size and resolution, only thing that would be diffrent is BT radio right? Because I just peaked at the Sensation development and I died a little

I have been dying for a while. It must be very hard a lot of the roms want the phone to be S-offed but even then...IDK Its ridiculous the amount of roms i mean i kinda just want a sensation to play with you know?
The only similar parts in both devices are the screens (which are made my different manufactures) but that doesn't matter. its not hard to port a rom just because of screen differences, that's never been a problem. its the internals, the only part that is similar is the cpu/gpu which doesn't really matter either. there is a lot of differences. much different wifi as well

i dont have either of the phones... but i want the amaze because it is better than the sensation 4g, but i want the sensation 4g because of its wide variety or roms.

but yeah roms arent hard to port... theres really only a couple things that you need to make a rom from another device boot on a different device. (i will let the more knowledgeable users take it from here)

you answered your question yourself "the amaze is a better device". doesn't matter how much better the development is. that's like saying I should get the g1 rather than the amaze because the development is amazing there lol
roms can be really hard to port if you don't have the right information (drivers, radio, etc). yeah, im sure it can be easy to port and boot up but no luck getting it stable so its pointless
Mabey if someone made a tool that was specific for porting sensation roms to the amaze, that would be sexy

But yea getting it stable is hard, and is the most challenging thing, we have ICS booted and we almost got Sense 4 booted, but they can't be daily drivers so no point in that right now

this has been discussed previously, the sensation is a completely different phone on the inside...EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PHONE is different...porting from sensation to amaze is not even a good ide, they don't use the same hardware at all, ergo they don't use the same drivers, kernel, modules etc....HTC Vivid is the closest phone you will find to the amaze.
It's really not that hard guys, I'm working on one now actually, here's some information on how to do it, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224311, and theres also dsixda kitchen which make it even easier

dude calm down, i was just asking what rom you ported that's running smooth, no one has really successively ported a rom to the amaze without it missing something

Well, if you want root, then I recommend you flash a custom Rom, when I had stock I was never able to get root, and if you get a Rom you'll get better performance anyway
Amaze 4G ENERGY ICS
Use the Amaze all in one toolkit and re-unlock your bootloader, and use it to flash a custom recovery (it only includes TWRP, which works fine), then use the recovery to flash the Superuser.zip, which you can find all over the place. Sorry for no links, I usually just stumble upon them all.

This statement is NOT TRUE :banghead:
I'm running stock rooted ics now. I got it by flashing superuser because I read and know how to now.
Edit: just as was with gingerbread, stock rooted is the best performer anyway still. Get back to me when we have AOSP or MIUI.

I was just trying to help him lol. God knows noobs can't read in-depth. Hell, I figured it out on my own within an hour I had the .3 ICS and root.

Check his previous posts. A troll is a troll is a troll. Being a NOOB is a BAD thing guys. It's different than being new to something. It's when u never graduate from a newbie to someone that gets it... That, my friend, is a NOOB... And they are NOT welcome here. This is a development site. Everyone that has any real knowledge here (yourself may be included) put in hours of educating themselves. Don't hold these people's hands.

I agree 100%. Also, I consider myself somewhat a noob as well, but I can hold my own. I think I graduated from being an incompetent noob when I erased all my MyTouch 1.2's partitions like an idiot. Lol. Since then I read read read.

Lol man don't take it personal... I love ya guys that are here doing something. I've tried most ROMs out there. I really liked a couple, but it always comes to this.
I run stock rooted sense. I kill the cap key lights, installed a new launcher (apex pro of course), I debloated, I installed custom splash screen, boot animation, and down animation. Juice defender handles my battery. I've got adw ics theme installed just for aosp icons for homescreen. All I have left, is to get working aosp apps to replace my system sense apps.
What don't I have that a custom sense rom has?
And for the record, I tried miui on my mt4g (cuz mrmako777 swears by it, and he's a cool dude) and I hated it. Reminded me of iOS. I just mentioned because its an alternate OS that a lot of people like. But I LOVE cyanogenmod... And we won't get that w/o proper driver code being released.
I'm open for u to try to convince me otherwise, but I think I win here buddy

Is there a stock rooted gingerbread/froyo/ics ROM I can use on my Razr? And can I use the all in one Razr kit to install it? Does it have MiuiOSP cause that would ROCK. A Motorola Razr with Beats!!
