Definitely feeling the drag....
I live in Atlanta and Its been having a lot of ups and downs for a while here. but now i've got the new EVO 4g LTE and I am just assuming its because the 3g is getting raped all over the place because they havent launched the LTE network and so everyone(including myself) has to use the hell out of it until they get the new network up and running. I've heard it should be "really really really really really soon." quoting the sprint rep the other day

I will get those speeds either late at night or early in the morning. Any time during the day when people are actually using data and im around 300kb. Do another test and see what you get.
I use to have 19 upgrades to be now I have 15 yay LTE is almost complete
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
We just had updates in central Wisconsin a month or two ago and my data went from about 200k to about 2.2Mbps overnight. My evo lte connects perfectly to the new tower hardware, but is slow (100-150) on the older towers. Oddly, we also now have wimax in the woods near the upgraded tower, but it doesn't show on sprints map.
According to the local techs I know, the hardware throughout northern Wisconsin is about 50% complete and late should be set to go in all current 3g areas of the state by December...but that implied sprint just flips the switch the moment they can.
Either way, my findings are evo with new tower, great...with old tower slightly worse than my nexus.

Dude, I live in Los Angeles too. Well actually I live fairly close to Los Angeles, data is so ****ty for me. I've looked at the network and keep watching all this so called upgrades done around me but service is still horrible.
I haven't seen scores that low in a long time. What PRL are you guys using? I'm close to the LA area too. Well in OC, close to Huntington Beach if your familiar w/ that area. I usually get about 1.2 meg down...
I've done plenty of profile and prl updates. I've used prl 21079 21080 21082 and the business prl. I've even flashed a different ROM and still the same.

What this guy said. All the PRL does is tell your phone which towers to use. If anything its Sprint being Sprint.
And also you aren't being throttled.

I live in the Detroit area and I'm supposed to be in a quality coverage spot and those are the scores I get everyday. Sprint SUCKS the only reason people use sprint is price that's it.

4G Wimax was rolled out by Clearwire, an amateur wireless wholesaler. This current 4G LTE rollout is by Sprint. If Sprint fails to build out LTE by the end of 2013 as projected, then the company probably has doomsday issues.

The FCC shut down Light Squared alternatives, due to GPS interference. So, Light Squared will soon be Lights Out.
Sprint will have their own LTE network, and if Clear does actually put out a LTE network, they will use that, too. Sprint mentioned possibly using two different LTE technologies.

Ok so basically if I understand correctly, the LTE towers that are being put up in Texas are by Sprint themselves. Sprint was planning to use LightSquared to expand their network but that is not going to to happen due to recent regulations. So basically now Sprint has to expand their LTE network by themselves.

Even though there are only certain towers on right now for LTE in the Atlanta area, if many of you check your Network settings, you guys should be on CDMA-eHRPD instead of EVDOrA. I have been on it since I got the phone. Everywhere I've traveled from Duluth to Kennessaw to Snellville.

Try updating your PRL, and if that doesn't work you can try switching the network mode to CDMA only in the mobile network settings menu. If you're rooted you can also use MSL reader off the market to get your MSL, or call sprint and ask for it, then dial ##DATA# and change your EVDO mode to CDMA HDR only. If using MSL reader, for some reason it only works if you install, uninstall and reinstall again.
I got more consistent 1mbps speeds, up from 500~, in the san francisco area, I don't know if they're messing around with the towers over here, but there has been reports from people that these workarounds should force the phone to stop trying to flip between EVDO and LTE
You only did two tests? Try going to the setting and changing which server it is connecting to during the test.
I average 1Mbps-1.5Mbps usually.
