Guys i've one simple question.
MY Atrix is already unlock and it under stock rom.
my question is,
is there any side effect when ever i try to update my device via Over the air update, when ICS Come?
If you are on a stock rom then it should update just fine.
unlocked boot loader probably won't help, thats why when I updated mine to .141 and it relocked it,I just left it that way.
If your bootloader is unlocked and your are running a custom rom then you shouldnt get OTA updates and if you do they will probably lead to issues. If you want the stock motorola ICS i suggest waiting till it comes out flashing back to the stock 2.3.6 and the manually upgrading to ICS
Sir how do i know if i have a stock firmware?
My Cousin gave this to me, and i didn't know if it's stock or not.
by the way i can't ask him, hi out of the country for good T_T

Check for "unlocked" at top left of the boot image screen, download and run "root checker" from playstore, it will let you know if the device has been rooted. android version should be 2.3.6 and build ends with 141. Sorry, it's been a while since I've run stock ROM.
sir my version is gb si 2.3.4 T_T but when i check the Software update via On-the-air-Firware no update available. T_T
sorry i've so many question

Hi all
I have a unlocked bootloader Atrix, within GB 2.3.4 4.5.91 ATT us, N_01.86.00R, and 2.6.32.9 installed. It works but I have so many trouble with it.
Can I safetly go back to Motorola Software Update, and get officially once again my Orange French Stock Froyo 2.2!?
(any real "YES" will be greatly appreciated!!)

Don't do this before someone else says it's okay, because I'm not totally sure, but you should be able to SBF flash your device back to original everything.
Thank you. In fact I don't want to use any more other SBF file, but just get my stock directly from Motorola Software Update!!
I hope I'm not too late.
DO NOT DOWNGRADE!!
You'll get yourself a hard brick. Seriously, it's stickied all over the forum.
You cannot use SBF, you cannot use Motorola Software Updater.
I repeat, YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE FROM 4.5.91 YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE
Do as you please, but you have been warned.
So no way to get back? So bad...
Can I at least flash back with Recovery to a retail Froyo 2.2?
Am I no more allowed to official stock, or in future I'll be able to get get Motorola's official update?

By stock I thought you meant the newest firmware stock! my bad. Yes, DO NOT SBF DOWNGRADE. You WILL brick.
Use fruitcake if you want froyo but I have no clue if theres a fruitcake france release. You may be SOL here.

read post 2 by shaydar.. maybe this could help, just try download the newer sbf (2.3.4) then desbf it..
do not use froyo, that the best method i know for now
Thank you everybody for your cautions!!!
I didn't get back to stock 2.2. I installed this pretty CM7 and I'm quiet satisfied.
But I want to know: with my atrix unlocked with RDSLite + CM7 installed, am I allowed one day to get official 2.3 or Ice Cream with Motorola Updater Software when Motorola will make it happens!??
Hi. I have just flashed by ftf stock orm, then relocked bootloader and now if I want to upgrade from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4 what should I do? Normally I get a message in PC Companion, now I don't. It says I am updated. I am on T-mobile PL and I should have it (I have done it once before flashing custom roms). Should I download correct version for TMOBILE?
And will they accept it on warranty service if it would be neccessary?
And which custom rom with quadrant score 3000+ could you recommend me?
Which .ftf did you flash? Maybe you flashed one whose CDA still hasn't got the update. To upgrade to ICS, just flash ICS
And if you want to root it follow THIS tutorial
Yeah, I can, but that's not it. I want to have everything working. If there should be upgrade, then there should be an upgrade... I flashed WT19i_4.0.2.A.0.62_1254-1889
Well, that SI is not in THIS list... so i suppose you can't update yet
Quadrant Score

Stock means your phone is untouched, as it came from the manufacturer/provider.
OTA refers to the "Over The Air" updates which come from the manufacturer or provider. They are actually one and the same thing. You will receive a notification when an OTA update is available for your stock phone. You then download the update, and install it. Your phone is still stock, but running the latest version of the operating system.

Hello Sir .
Thank you for the reply.
Regarding my last question which is question C the "yes " means that if i keep upgrading the custome ROMS which have some changes of STOCK ROM in same enviornment i dont need to root again the device am i right?.
What can i conclude that any ORIGAl ROM(STOCK ROM) needs to do root after upgrads.
My last and big question is :
d) Why this behaviour? why cannot we do root for ever and ever? so it means that if i bye a device which comes locked from local operator it will never like as the one that comes unlocked originaly.???? there will be always a difference between device which is rooted from factory and which is rooted by use....why this differences?????
:crying:

Hello to everybody.
First of all I need to tell that this is my first post in this huge community, so as you could understand I am so totally noob, besides I am from Latin America so excuse me for my bad english.
I have a S3 I9300 (bought on december 2012) and I am feeling worry about the sudden death issue, according with what I've read one of the possible causes of this issue might be the bootloader of the jelly bean, so they recommend to install old bootloader the one which came with the ICS 4.0.4, but doing this may brick my device.
So my question is does worth the risk to install this old bootloader? another thing is that I have the red exclamation mark when the phone is booting (I am currently using Sotmax v12 rom with Yank555 2.8f kernel).
And in case the answer is yes do someone has tutorials or video of how this should be done?
Thanks in advance for your help
See the post how to flash old bootloader right next to this post .
Question = Q&A please .

Thank you for your response, I've read the thread you suggest and I still do not understand some aspects like:
1.- Do I need to be on 4.0.4 Stock to flash the bootloader?
2.- In order to flash the bootloader just need to place the ICS old bootloader XXALEF provided in the thread in the bootloader section in Odin 3? or is needed to do another procedure first? do I lost root?
I am sorry to bother you, but I want to be sure about what I am going to do before try to do it.
Thanks
I think do what you see in the other thread.
The trick is look for a country that has not gotten uodated to JB 4.1.2. Stuck at 4.1.1. DL the last 4.04 (ICS) of that country. Flash it via Odin. Then upon first boot (dont root in the mean time) let it update to 4.1.1 via the phone's OTA Software Update. This is the key part when a JB 4.1.1 Bootloader will be installed that will break the XXELLA bootloader's protection.
After that OTA update is finished (285 MB file) then you can flash that XXALEF ICS Bootloader through PC Odin.
Then do root or wahteva you want.
This is described in Dr Love's thread. I'd done this way.
Another way is this one.

Thank you so much for your response. I will try the second method and see what happens.
Sorry for my persistence.
Now I understand almost every step on the procedure to downgrade the old bootloader, but one still question still remains do I need to be on 4.0.4 stock to downgrade or it does not matter what firmware I am using?
Thanks for your help
