Hi there is it possible to relock the boot loader for xperia mini? I unlocked it because i tried CM7. Now I am thinking of going bag to original firmware. Any help is appreciated!
If relocating is not possible, what should one do to get as close as possible back to the original firmware, is it still possible to get official upgrades?

Third, remember if you are doing it with official method, you will never able to receive FOTA or SEUS update, you can, but only by flashing from xda.
So since we did the unofficial method, After we update through SEUS the bootloader is still unlocked?
I don't know about that. Since the service info still says bootloader unlocking allowed, I think the phone thinks itself as still locked. Flashing from seus might rely more on drm instead of whether the bootloader as locked or not.

when service info says Bootloader unlock allowed: true, that means that it the bootloader is locked, but can be unlocked at will
as many devs say, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty and bricks the phone when doing FOTA or SEUS
but there's a flashtool out there for us that will take care of it

You do know this method right? http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/ When using that method, it is unlocked but the report still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: true'. So if you use this method (as what idareyou and me were doing back then) the phone thinks that it is still 'locked', even though it's unlocked.

Yeah. I can confirm that my bootloader is unlocked but it still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed:Yes'
I thought at first I wasn't succesful even though it went smoothly so I tried flashing custom Kernel and it was succesful.
I want to know if in the future if SE release their ICS and we update using SEUS the unlocked bootloader remains because believe me, I don't want to go through the same process again, I got electrecuted several time because I don't have test points, just a clip and copper wire.

Veimus from original thread confirm that seus do works and he can reflash the gingerbread from seus. Sm gt should be ok with ics, And with Sony confirms mo changes hm kernel. I think it will be Rom update only.

means that you can unlock the bootloader, BUT it does not say if the bootloader is locked/unlocked already
I researched about the matter, and reached some conclusions:
- I don't want to use the TEST POINTER method, I really don't care about OTA updates or Track ID app (as far as I know there are no more consequences), Shazam and Soundhound do the same
- I would like to unlock the bootloader in some manner that, if I need to relock the warranty will still be valid (same goes for root, but I guess flashing an original firmware unroots the device)
That said, found the official instructions to unlock the BL, but still have the main question: is it the procedure completely reversible? Also, is it free?

you can still relock your bootloader and receive official sony updates, but the problem is, you loose DRM(in which if sony finds out, you still lose warranty).
i found this thread and said that DRM cannot be restored :/
I don't know about non free relocking if it will be able to restore DRM though.
oh and by the way, this thread provides the easiest way to unlock and relock your bootloader for free.

DRM cannot be restored at all.
Install TrackID from market and it will work.
Bootloader can be relocked, doesn't matter how you unlocked.
And yes, it is free.

Ok, so I suppose the DRM Keys only affect the OTA updates (how should we care if we are unlocking BL for custom ROMs
So, I suppose if I have a problem on my Live (but it still turns on), I apply an OFW and then relock it, it's a matter of luck if the techical assistance is going to check if the DRM is still valid or not.
What method do you advice to unlock the BL?

Method, pick which is better for you. I used official method, no messing with cables.

Unlock it the way you prefer to it does not matter it will lose warranty any way it is just luck if they will check it or not at the service center. Any way it is really hard to completely brick your phone unless you don't know what you are doing. The main difference is with the test point method you are able to update using seus without problems and it looks more complicated than it really is I only used a clip
just a question about unlocking thru official method.

would they be able to track your phone since you will be giving them some details like your name, IMEI, email etc. to get the unlock code?
do the service centers have access to that database?
There are no Sony Mobile Service Centers, phones need to be taken back to shop and they use service of specific mobile repair shop.
Depending on what reason you need to take it back, they might want to check it or not. No one has so far done this, so we have no information.

There is no risk either way the difference is that with the official method you will lose your drm (Digital rights management) and the official support of track id (the app from se that you use to search for the info of a song playing in the radio or the tv etc.) meanwhile using the test point method you will not lose them. If you want to install a custom rom like cm9 or miui you need to unlock your bootloader to be able to flash the custom kernels those roms need.

I cannot understand the difference because as fair as I understand right now, all live's (branded/sim unlocked or not) are unlockable (referring to bootloader).

When they come with boot loader unlock : no it is a branded sim locked phone in which case you can unlock bootloader but you will have no access to fastboot meaning you are unable to flash a custom kernel, also there will be no way you can officially unlock the bootloader so will have to use the test point method and of course you will need to pay to fully unlock your phone to be able to access fastboot and flash custom kernels.
Did I miss something??

I'm not really sure about Wotan server however I'm pretty sure about setool and omnius and if you are willing to pay the phone will be fully unlocked (bootloader, sim and fastboot) with one procedure using the test point method.

So, I'm curious, if I have branded sim lock Live ("no" bootloader) can I install an original firmware without using an official channel? Do I need fastboot access?
I'm asking because I'm almost sure that my carrier will not update the Live to 4.0, so I suppose I have to use some other tool in order to install it.

you can debrand (install a generic firmware) your phone using wotan server for free and as i know it will also change your product code so next time and official sony update is available your phone will get it.

I have an x10a, and I have for a while. But, its getting old, and boring. I wanted to spice it up with a custom ROM, namely Cyanogenmod. But going through the steps, xflashtool doesn't seem to want to play ball, informing me that "Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked".
I've flashed it before, but only back to stock. This time I want something new.
Now, I've googled around and I've found a few pieces of information about this, but nothing concrete, and certainly nothing very in-depth.
I need to know;
- Does this mean that my attempts at a custom ROM are just at a halt completely? Too bad for me, try a different phone?
- If not, can I force the bootloader to be unlocked, and will it remove my ability to use the radio capability in the phone? (as I have read in a few places now), because my phone isn't a lot of good without the ability to do phone things.
- If I can force it, how, and are there any downsides?
and bonus round;
- Why are there certain phones that just can't have the bootloader unlocked.
Cheers in advance guys, I'd really like to hear some good news about this, but anything is better than what I have at this point.

1st: you still can flash custom rom, look for the one that have stated (for locked bootloader)
2nd: yes you can, there is testpoint method (correct me If I'm wrong)
3rd: no afaik
Bonus: because there are carrier locked, or just plain damn unlucky

My X10i is carrirer locked, and I could unlock the boot loader without any problems.
The problem with those who lose their radio capability, is, as I suspect it to be, because they tried SIM-unlock their devices with third party methods in a way that are not supposed to be done. (A "bad" hack method of some kind). Once they unlock the boot loader, they lose that poor third party hack, and the device reverts back to a SIM-locked state. Since most of the people who do SIM-unlock their devices, uses a different carrier, will also lose the radio because of the carrier/SIM lock.
One can safely unlock the boot loader if:
* The device remains SIM-locked and haven't been touched by poor, unknown SIM-lock hacks.
* The device isn't SIM-locked in the first place. (Device was delivered in an unlocked state)
* The device is SIM-unlocked with the proper method, where one get proper unlock codes from their original carrier matched with the IMEI code.

My phone was delivered locked to... Vodaphone? I think. I unlocked it a long time ago. But, I unlocked it by given them my IMEI, and getting the unlock code from them. So, as legit as it gets really. I am still not allowed to just unlock my bootloader. Based on what I've seen in this thread, and a couple of other places, if I force the bootloader to unlock by "less sturdy" means, I should be fine with my sim-unlock, or be able to just contact them again and get a new unlock code.
So, this Testpoint method that TakuyaZ mentioned, anyone able to point me in the right direction for that or an alternative? I can't seem to find a decent tutorial anywhere.

What method did you try to unlock the bootloader with? As far as I know your SIM-unlocked status shouldn't be affected at all, as it is properly unlocked, with the radio accepting all carriers. (Radio part of the device is semi-isolated from the rest of the system)
Try this method, and you should be fine: (But I cannot promise anything. If you do try it, you're on your own.)

It's the method I used on a few X10i devices. Works on SIM-locked devices (They'll remain SIM-locked after, as it should be), as well as unlocked devices that previosly has been SIM-locked, but unlocked with the proper codes from the carrier. They remained SIM-unlocked after unlocking the boot loader. Good news that is.
So if you really know that your device has been properly SIM-unlocked with codes delivered from the carrier that locked the device in the first place, you should be fine. A.f.a.i.k, the only ones that lost their radio on their devices, are the ones who used improper third party hacking methods to SIM-unlock their devices.
Warning: If you are not 100% sure about what method that has been used to SIM-unlock your device. Stop. And turn back.
Alright, attempting the method posted above, I have hit a snag. I then proceeded to hit the same snag over and over again, trying minutely different methods.
My problem is with the qsd8250_semc tool.
The most I can get out of it is;

Did you try with Flashtool? Don't use the newest version, you need 0.9.10 release. From http://androxyde.github.io/ There is a thread on here some where ill inbox you the link if I find it.
But it is easy as to do. By memory I think you click the padlock in flashtool to root phone then click on the plugins and you have the option to unlock boot loader with a click. Not sure if you have to add recovery first? Get the older version of flashtool though.

The only things needed on the X10 part is it to have original (Stock) firmware with Android 2.1 or 2.2, with the original 2.6.29 kernel.
Also one need to enable debugging over USB (Debug Bridge) in the developer settings. And lastly need the drivers installed if using Windows. (Which I assume is the case here)
Once that's done, it should all work.
I've written a Linux script if anyone needs it. Still need the other files from the original qsd8250.7z toolset from the_laser's thread. See attached files.
Place qsd8250_semc.bash in the same director as qsd8250_semc.cmd, then execute it.
One also need Linux-version of the adb command, and in the system PATH variable.

First of all get your self on .532 and root and then back up the TA partition, may save some grief at a latter date.
Then all I can say is try and try again, and make sure that you submitted the correct IMEI to Sony
am now on 5.10 and still doesnt work using any method

If it is unlockable then I don't think there is any thing you can do
am confused? why wouldn't i be able to unlock?
Because your device is probably a carrier-linked one... almost every phone bought within the US, if it's not from the manufacturer itself, is locked.
You either will have to live with it, or just sell it and buy an unlockable one directly from Sony.

Flashtools - gives me the error that the bootloader cannot be unlocked. Tells me to unplug the phone and turn it on.
Any help?
Try 2-3 times.
But first root with easyroot then backup the TA partition then while in root, unlock. Everything will work.

1. install all drivers
2. run flashtool as admin
3. make sure your imei code was right
4. make sure your unlock code was right
5. try again a few times
misc. check if your bootloader is unlockable in your service menu, does it say rooting is alowed (i dont remember what menu this was in):*#*#SERVICE#*#* in your dialier

Yes rooting is allowed
Im using flashtool only as admin not the official method and tried alot with no luck
Iv’e tried to unlock via flashtool as above but it tells me it cannot be officially unlocked, before doing this I checked on the phone and it says bootloader unlockable yes

You have to root first to backup TA partition (or don't haha but please do it is essentially your warranty)
Then go to the Sony Dev page to get your unlock code. You need your imei. Then, use that in fastboot(not flashtool oops). The instructions are in the Sony page. This WILL wipe your phone so you might wanna tibu stuff into your sdcard

I have backuped TA
If i use the official way from sony will it be a problem if I want to relock it again for warranty purposes or if occured faults for the device?
Do Sony know that i have unlocked the bbotloader then it will void warrant even if I lock it again?

No idea but I doubt it. The unlock process cannot send a notification to Sony, but I am not sure what their policy is on you obtaining the unlock code. Should be fine though

I would suspect that if Sony wanted to be arses about it that they will take the obtaining an unlock code as proof it was unlocked, do you tick a box to say you accept you are voiding your warranty when you request the code? But it doesn't make a difference what method you use as both require the unlock code from Sony.
