PlayOn Troubles - HTC EVO 3D

My issue pertains to a particular ROM, but since I haven't yet met the threshold for posting in the development forum I thought I would try here. Also, thanks to all the folks who put together all of these things for others.
I use PlayOn to transcode/stream video content from my PC to my E3D. Since installing MeanROM ICS (version 2.0 at the moment). I have not been able get any videos to playback. I can see the preview images and the play button is responsive. When I click the preview image it asks me what video application to use (ES Media, MoboPlayer, Stream Media Player). Regardless of which one I choose, they all just sit there until the screen turns off. I've verified that Flash is working by browsing to YouTube mobile site and playing a video. Also, I've flashed a CM9 nightly and it had no problems. Any ideas?
Update: I tried MeanROM 4.3 GB and it works fine. I believe it has something to do with the DLNA middle layer, but I'm not sure where to look.

CM7 and Moonsoon's Vulkano

Well I am on my third Gingerbread rom (6th overall rom) and I finally have gotten the Vulkano to stream in all situations. Last night I downloaded CM7's nightly build 58 and flashed my G-Tablet. Installation was very smooth using clockworkmod and all 128 apps were restored using Titanium back with no problems. I had wiped and formated just about everything I could before doing the installation. After that I went to the market and downloaded the Vulkano player and at last sucess. I was able to stream from the vulkano both locally and over the internet. I realize some other people have had sucess using Corwins rom (CM7 based), and that was going to be next if this did not work. I had previously tried G-Harmony with no sucess, and then Vegan Tab GB with limited succes. The strange thing with Vegan Tab was it would stream over the internet however it would not stream when I was home locally. Watching the bandwidth I was getting at home the software player seemed to choke everytime it was over 1 mb/sec. When I was out of the house and connected over the internet it worked fine at speeds anywhere from 300-900k. This leads me to believe the hardware accelleration that is now included in CM7 is working with this app allowing it to run over my local network. Another thing that I have struggled with is getting recorded shows downloaded to my G-Tab. Well I still can not get it to work with any rom and the vulkano player but I have a work around for now. By down loading the videos using UPNPdownloader (avlalable in the market for free) you can then watch the recordings using MOBOPlayer or Rockplayer. Now for even better news when Rockplayers asks if you want to use hardware decoding and you answer yes the videos run close to flawlessly. On the other two GB roms it obviously would not work using the hardware decoding. They did run on the roms using the software decoding but they would stutter even at the lowest recorded resolutons. When playing high quality recordings they would be unwatchable due to the delay in video processing in which the sound which was a full 3-5 seconds ahead of the picture. This would make all sense since the Vulkano records in the H.264 video format and if I am not mistaken that is the portion of hardware accelleration that is working. Well I hope this helps someone else.
Lastly I do miss the Vegan Tab interface, the VT Launcher was very smooth and the rom was much more tablet oriented. I can not wait until gojimi includes this in his rom since the rom is CM7 based if I am not mistaken. Please excuse any typos and good luck.

Interesting. I have a vulkano, and am running vegantab with pershoot's latest overclocked kernel - I have not gotten around to getting it set up, but under that other OS (er, iOS?) I would pull over 2Mbit/sec (more like 3) for local HD content, and 1.5+ for remote (yay for comcast HSI) - I should test it out. I'll let you know what I see tomorrow!

Sounds good I am interested to see what happens. I am currently streaming between 1.6 and 2.0 mb/secs locally using the wireless router Verizion put in when I got Fios. My iphone streams locally between 300k - 600k usually.

VeganGinger just gives me a black screen and spinning "buffering" with the Vulkano inside the home. Meh. Not so good!
For the record, Vulkano (Monsoon) refuses to support G Tab and Android 2.2 at all. I'm now in a legal war with these clowns. be careful on CM7 as you may still encounter buffering quite often and screen lockups.
Vulkano issues on CM7 for Evo
I have the Vulkano player working flawlessly on my Nook Color running CM7.1 RC1
However, I cannot for the life of me get it working CM7 and my Evo 4G. Tried the stable and testing builds. I'm still debating if I really want to move to a nighly, but I might just do it to see if it works and restore back to 7.1 RC1.
BTW, I'm so happy they finally have a root process for the Evo 4G on Gingerbread!

Hello,
I am trying to make if possible the android vulkano application to work with 4.4.2 or Lollipop and stream while the screen is off.
This was possible with my 2.3.7. But with newer devices seems impossible. I am digging up some old vulkano posts incase somebody figured this out.
Thank you very much.

[Q] What's the most stable Froyo ROM?

I currently have 'VEGAn-TAB ROM BETA 5.1 FINAL' installed as of yesterday and it's already crashed while I was watching a video. I know Gingerbread doesn't have video acceleration so I would like to avoid that if possible.
They're all pretty darn stable. And they're all listed at my site.

It may not be the rom that caused this...what video player was being used? what file format was the video in? when did you select if you were given the option of hard coding or soft coding? Where there are plethora of apps running in the background? What exactly was the "crash, forced reboot, lock up, video/audio distortion? Did the video file play properly on another device, ie your computer?
There are many players out there, some work well, some work kinda "eh." Some can't handle some video formats, some can play them, but not properly. Some vieo formats require decoding, hard or soft (I like hard when speaking of ice cream, but software decoding ususally works for my videos).
I'm using BC (the 1.2 version of VEGAn 5.1.1), and rockplayer to play video. I've been thinking of trying moboplayer, since it seems to have received rave reviews on this and other forums. I've been able to play .avi files with software decoding. MP4 files play fine, but the quality isn't as good..they're made for mobile devices with really tiny screens.
When I rip or download a movie, I almost ALWAYS make sure that it runs fine on my Acer netbook (same screen size) to get a general idea of what I can expect on the G-Tab.
in a nutshell, your issue may not be the rom at all...VEGAn 5.1.1 is probably one of, if not THEE most stable 1.1 based rom out there.

Flash content problems

Hi i recently updated to version 2.3.4 via Kies since then i have been having issues with Flash based content specifically YouTube videos.
When i watch videos in the YouTube app the videos have constant stutter where the it will be smooth then pause the smooth and so on.
Its not just limited to the YouTube app. Videos in the browser on anything higher the 480p are impossible to watch. With constant slowdown and pauses. Not all YouTube content in browse r is like this Vevo music videos even in 1080p are perfectly smooth like everything else used to be.
I have everything updated im just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I have already done a factory reset and tried watching videos without updating flash or YouTube app no change.
Im not rooted completely stock any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.
I find it a little strange that nobody answered that question yet.
When I thought back, when my SGS2 shipped with Android 2.3.3 , flash content ran ultimately smooth in stock browser, even with 1080p. Now I'm on Revolution ROM 2.7.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.5) with Siyah Kernel 1.7.7, and flash content runs horrible.
During playback in stock browser, the videos stutter all the time! There is a small but annoying trick to get it smooth: scroll a little up and down, keep your finger on the touchscreen all the time. now you can see that the video runs great, but you have to keep your finger on screen during the whole playback!
Had the same issue with CM7 and MIUI, too.
What is the matter with that?!
Come on, is there no one else here being a little pissed with this issue, too?!
Compare your browsing experience with that:
http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-drops-by-for-a-preview-we-roll-up-our-sleeves-video/
The Firmware is at least 6 months old, but browser performance is far superior and the stock browser has this fancy rotate animation, too!

Hulu on the GTab

Is anyone currently able to watch Hulu either on the website or through the Hulu Plus app?
If so, what Rom are you using and what version of Flash?
I can get to the website and start the video but so far after it plays the first commercial the video will stop, the audio will play but the video freezes
OR
It will play until it gets to a commercial, it will play the commercial and ten never resume playing
OR
it wont even make it past the first commercial, it will play the ad but will then stop playing and get stuck on a black image...
Ive tried CM7, Flashback, Vegantab Ginger Edition (couple different versions) as well as multiple versions of Flash...
Having the same issues. 1.1bl, Vegan Ginger 7.1, Vgeezyflash.API 11.0
Having issues too.
Using the Flashback 10.0 alpha (Honeycomb 3.1) rom and can't get hulu or most flash items to load right/
If I click around and end up hitting play I'll get sound on hulu, but that's all.
I think it has something to do with later flash versions using Hardware Acceleration and the gtab not supporting it or something.
I've tried the stock browser, Dolphin for Pad, Dolphin HD and Opera Mobile/mini all with the user agents set to Desktop.
I've tried flash from these locations:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9476506&postcount=26
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077914
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076612
I always get the same result.
The websites I use to test are, newgrounds, hulu and a google search for "fart soundboard".
On Hulu I only get sound, on newgrounds flash items are just a blank spot and the fart soundboard will make noise if i click on it but I can't see any of the buttons I'm pressing.
I've read other posts of people saying the have got hulu to work but they fail to mention where the got the flash apk.
Get the PlayOn Mobile app and stream it as well as many others right from your pc to anywhere your connected to wifi, been using it awhile now and until we can stream directly from the site, this is a GREAT alternative

Thanks for the tip!
Update:
Using Opera Mobile 11.1 (with the user agent set to "desktop" in its settings, from this post and the latest version of Flash Player 11 from the Android Market get's flash based websites like newgrounds.com and my flash based eTextbooks to work correctly! So that's a decent enough work-around for my issues.
Hulu.com works better than with any other browser but still won't actually play videos.

[Q] flash video sync

I played with NT in-store the other day, and while the framerate was pretty smooth unlike the hiccups I got on the NC, the audio was still out of sync on several sites. I went to thewb.com (home of free streaming Pushing Daisies) and comedy central (daily show and colbert), and while the store wasn't exactly quiet, I was able to detect some slight loss of sync.
I couldn't test Netflix/silverlight at the time, but I was wondering about you guys' experiences w/ streaming video. Is that pretty common with random flash video out there? Has anyone used any intermediary PC-to-tablet streaming solutions like tversity or playon and had a better experience with a content that was otherwise problematic?
Thanks.
Had this problem when I got it. After a Flash update everything worked OK. My guess is that the Flash player in the store is the shipping version.
I am curious if folks who had this problem have also seen it fixed with the market flash update. It didn't work for me, any others with better luck?
