[APP] Autostarts (type) - HTC Amaze 4G

Does anyone know of an app that can disable autostarts, that actually works with ICS? The "autostarts" app from the market hasn't worked properly in a while for me... where as on my G2 it made quite a difference...
please give me your suggestions, looking to change apps as soon as possible =)
thanks in advance!

System tuner has a "startups" section that seems to do the trick for me.. I was actually just messing with that this morning, trying to figure out if there are certain apps I don't use much using my shiz.
Hell, if you're trying to tame your battery use, look at the "events" section right next to startups - with that you are supposed to be able to shut off certain PARTS of a program - like I only use G+ to autosync new pictures, I turned off everything but the photo sync part, and now g+ doesn't show up under betterbatterystats at all(I only have it sync on wifi, while plugged in).
Give me some feedback if it isn't working for you, but seems to work fine for me!

Can't receive SMS when RAM is full

Hello guys. I've a quite strange problem!
When I have open some app that uses many RAM (like a navigation app - Navigon, Sygic, for example) I can't receive sms!
I tested with a friend. He sent me a SMS when my phone was idle, and I received.
But when I open Navigon, or Sygic, he sent me the same SMS, he received the Delivered relatory, but I didn't receive any message!
Maybe the system closes some system app when RAM is full, and maybe this is the problem. What can I do to get messages APP always running, so I can receive SMS?
Could you please help me?
Best regards,
Miguel
PS: I hope you can understand my (not so good) english !
You have to lock the messaging app in memory because when your phone tries to free RAM the messaging app is killed.

Thanks for the answer!
But how can I do that?
Best regards!
Because I'm a little bit noob on Android...
If you are on CM7 ROM then it should be under performance settings. If not then you could probally use the "V6 supercharger script".
Sent from my LG Optimus T.
Ok, thanks! i'm on stock rom, because unfortunately LG C660 users don't have CM7
I'll try and I'll post results. Thanks!
Well, I did use V6 supercharger and then I try bulletproof also, but it didn't solved the problem..
Any ideas?
Thanks!
I'm sorry for probably doing spam with this, but I'd really apreciate your help!
Best regards!
Edit: Anyone with knowledges in code, programming, could analyse CM7 code, for example? Because on the CM's settings meny, they have an option to lock messaging in memory! Maybe this would help me and other users! Thanks!

But the problem is there is not CM7 for my phone, LGC660. I'm wondering if anyone can analyse the code and see how they do to lock the messaging app in memory, so I can do it on my stock rom!
Please EVERYONE put a star in this thread - http://code.google.com/p/android/is...rs&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars
It's about the messaging app being closed in low ram scenarios! Please do it! You only waste 10 second and contributes for best stock android roms!
Thanks!
Done... Hope google takes action soon

It's a good option, thanks for your answer!
But in fact, my phone has only 188mb of RAM, it was a cheap one, and I'd prefer to use the stock messaging app. It's simple, and I like simplicity.
So, i'd prefer to have some app/script/mod that locks the messaging in ram. I tried all scripts that I've found on the internet, and they didn't work.
The best solution (I dream with it all day) is developing CyanogenMod for this device
best regards
Still no reply to our problem

The only good idea would to be just install go SMS our hand cent. Its actually faster than the stock messaging app and quite a bit better. to write a script would be kind of hard if you aren't that experienced with Android

Until LG or Google fixes the issue (if they ever do) GoSMS is you're best option.
You could try uninstalling, freezing or disabling the autorun permissions for all the apps you don't absolutely need. I don't use maps (I have a Samsung Vibrant and the GPS sucks) so I froze it so it doesn't automatically start up every once in a while or at boot. Geting rid of any widgets you don't absolutely need and keeping the number of home screens to the absolute minimum will also free up some ram. Also use the back button to close an app and not the home button. All of this might help a little but it won't solve your problem.
I downloaded gosms at last.. its nice.. but is there anyway to put its icon n the place of stock messaging app's icon ??

Made a small list of "good" apps

They are more tablet (Asus), but they still work on most phones anyway with ICS. Add if you have any!

Nice, it was surprisingly thorough and well organized.
Also your google doc is completely open to anybody editing? Not sure you want that. Change the share settings to read only.

So is this only for Apps in the Market (Google play) or can we add apps that we have saved on our comp? i have Better Keyboard 8.xx and Lock key, but not sure if I'm allowed to post. Can someone verify before I get myself in trouble?

Why aren't they on the market? I suppose you could, as long as you don't post paid apps. Just have to be weary I suppose, the list isn't forcing you to download anything.
Thanks for the list. That was me that you were "cell chatting" with.

Added aCar and Kairosoft games
I'd add BeWeather & Widgets Pro to the list of weather widgets.

You can add them...or at least the name and I'll find the links for them if you'd like.

[APP REQUEST] SMS Auto Delete

I'm looking for an app that deletes sms message after a set period of time. I used to used SMS Cleaner Pro however it no longer works since I'm now running a JB ROM. Does anyone know of an app that will do this simple automated task as I'm yet to find one that works?
Ideally i want a minimalist app with the sole purpose to delete any sms older than a week to keep my inbox tidy, cheers.
No suggestions?

Again Go SMS just does as the stock JB messaging app does and deletes messages when a maximum number is exceeded per conversation, unfortunately not what I'm looking for, thanks for the response and screenshot though

Yea. I actually made one. I just didn't finish it, I think. It had alot of options...
Delete older than...
Delete sent/received
Truncate to set size of messages
Delete messages with certain keyword
Do any of these for a specific number or for all numbers.
Probably more, I just can't remember. Ill check it out here shortly and see if its working or incomplete.

Sorry I got busy that day and forgot. Didn't remember until now. If you want to test what I have now, download this. It doesn't actually delete anything, it creates a log of what it did. View the log, which is minimalistic, and tap each one to see its full message detail. I did it this way because I want to give the users the ability to test and make sure its working correctly for them first. Plus, without actually deleting the messages, the process is super fast. The actual delete process does take some time. Which brings me to my next topic...
Before releasing a version that is fully functional, ill have to reconfigure some code. As of right now, everything is done in the screen. If you turn off the screen, or it times out, during its deleting process then it will be paused until the screen comes back on. And no one wants to have to leave their screen on while it does this, as the processes can take up to a few hours depending on how many your deleting. So its a change I must make.
Also, the autorun function hasn't been implemented yet. Good new is if your a user of my Bing app, then you know I already know how to do this. So it can and will be added!
I am still new to writing android apps, so I try my best to learn new things daily by bringing new features and fixes to to my current apps. So all suggestions and ideas for new features, or apps, are always welcome.

May I suggest an app that works with Tasker? Then it can easily be scheduled
It could be, but I haven't attempted to make anything to work for tasker yet. When this is complete, you would want to use the autorun feature included anyways. As it will have multiple options such as running daily, weekly, auto trim, and others, all with the option of choosing all, or specific, contacts.

Sounds pretty good. But autorun would require a service running. So that's where it's handy for guys like me already having Tasker running.

[Q] Alarm woes

Team,
I have tried a number of the sophisticated alarm apps but I can't find one that wakes up my tablet. Whether I have turned the screen off or let it go to sleep, the alarms do not sound until I physically double-tap the device. Then the alarm kicks in immediately. Obviously, it is totally pointless if I have to wake up the XZT before the alarm sounds!! As this seems to happen with a number of apps, I can only assume that there is a setting somewhere that I have overlooked. Can someone solve this for me please?
Thanks
Do you have Greenify installed or any similar apps that may put the app to sleep? Is this the stock alarm you are using that isn't working?

Nope, I don't know what Greenify is! The stock app seems to work OK. It's the more complex alarms that wake up slowly or provide "nap" features that don't seem to wake the tab up.
If someone could recommend an app that they know works and wakes up the tab, I'd be happy to give it a try.
BTW upgraded to 4.2 yesterday but the problem is still there.
Cheers

Thanks - you have solved my problem without realizing it!:good:
I loaded Timely, set a test alarm and it immediately told me that it wouldn't work while Stamina was enabled. It even gave instructions on how to add an exception to Stamina.
Working perfectly now.
Many thanks - I hope this helps others:laugh:
Glad I could inadvertently help! I still think that's odd, but it's good to know for the future. I keep my tablet in the dock, so that may be why I haven't noticed the problem before.

how to use greenify properly?

hey i just installed the xposed framework and greenify with donation package on my oneplus one running the cm12.1 2015.11.17 snapshot.
i just want to make sure i am using it the right way.
is it good to use it on snapchat, facebook messenger and facebook. is it good to always greenify them when locking my device. and say i get messages on facebook messenger from time to time, it wont drain my battery if it keeps waking the app? i'm just not sure if i am doing it the right way hehe. is there something else i should do with it. (i have the g gcm push feature on) apps are auto hibernated by greenify anyways so maby it is just as it should? im using servicely also.

Experiences vary; no right answer. You'll need to experiment to find the config that works best for you. That said, quieting Facebook will go a long ways toward improving battery life.

The short descriptions on the options speak for themselves. Boost is the 'best' choice but requires Xposed framework. Otherwise go with one of the other two options depending if your device is rooted.
