Has anyone successfully used Dish's sling to access content on their home DVR from a rooted (CM7) NT?

I don't know about CM7, but works ok on rooted stock NT
How well does it work? how is the quality of the video? Is it worth the investment in the sling?

Yes, I'm pleased with the performance. I can watch live TV or DVD recordings. I just bought a second sling adapter for my other HD box. I bought the adapter off Craig's List for $35. Quality is pretty good.

This article says it has embedded support to stream to TV and use a ps3 controller etc..
HOw exactly does is stream to a TV, do they mean HDMI out cable, or does it have some 'dlna' type streaming, and requires a receiver hooked to TV?

Both HDMI and DLNA
i thought dlna was for vidoes/songs etc
you can play a game on a tv via dlna :S

Well you didn't talk about gaming... Only about streaming to the TV.
Gaming won't work with DLNA of course. If you want to game, you need to chose the HDMI way
Is the HDMI needed a mini or micro? I've read conflicting spec sheets as to which it actually is.

Asus site says Micro, but I'll wait until I have it in my hands, so see myself which connector it is

Haha, true. I just wanted to have everything ready to go when it get's here! I am so pumped.
Hey everybody. I just ordered a Touch pad and am excited to hear about some of the adjustments you guys have made here to increase speed and overall functionality of the tablet.
In looking at the spec sheet it appears that there are no card slots so I can't use a micro SD or an SD card. I also don't see an HDMI out so I guess that I can't hook up the tablet to my TV can I?
Thanks!
No, unfortunately you are stuck with only using the internal storage. As far as I know, the only way to connect your table to a tv would be through DLNA, but not all televisions support it.
Thanks, I'll have to try DLNA. I might even look into Google TV. I believe that's what it's called.
I've been able to play video and audio from my home server on the Touchpad, but am not sure a DLNA capable TV would "see" the touchpad and any content on it. Anyone have a DLNA capable TV to test?

Well, technically you still get 50GB with Box.net with your HP TouchPad.
It works. I downloaded allshare player from the market and launched it. Now when i check dlna devices on my tv, cm tenderloin showed up and was able to play music and vids.

If you really need external storage there is always this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433667.
Thanks everyone. I can't wait till Friday when this Touch pad arrives. I'm selling my ipad 2 and I'm sending my Transformer Prime in RMA as soon as my TP gets here.
Yes, my wife calls me an Electronic Slut! But it's what I do. I'm really excited about Web OS! Especially now that it is open sourced!
Thanks again!

somewhere in the settings is the option to enable media link. to get it to start sending video, i think that it's either three fingers swipe down, or up.
sort of this
Holy crap! Praise science! I must have it. What is the performance and highest quality of video that it supports?

That's my big question. What video codecs are supported? What is the highest quality will be supported? Can I use it as a generic DLNA adapter for other non-HTC phones?
Hi,
I'm going to buy SS official MHL cable, but I would like to know whats the best option for me to control my moble?
Actually I just want to sit on my couch/bed and watch some video content.
Should I use a mouse + keyboard? Is it actually good? I think ICS navigation by mouse is not good...
Should I use another phone/android as a controller? Is there any application?
Should I just buy a longe HDMI cable?
I want to hear people solution!
Best regards,

How about Allshare Cast? It's a HDMI dongle for your television wich can wirelessly mirror your phone on the screen. So you can keep the phone in your hands/pocket while watching =)
It's not too cheap though with ~90$.
There are other clients for remote viewing, including homebrew-stuff based on the Raspberry Pi micro-computer.

That's an easy+cheap solution altough not the most practical one.

It's terrible since it's designed for touch input.

This is the more pratical solution, but is there any comparison between MHL vs all share cast? I don't know about the overhead in phone performance, image quality, wifi bandwidth during the streaming, etc

Ive seen those, they are all very limited! If we choose wlan screen share, the samsung own solution is the best one atm.
Afaik it uses Wifi direct, so no worries for overloading your router. That would mean you sacrifice wifi connectivity though.

When casting from eg. Play Music sound stutters like he... when doing something else on the tablet. Anybody else experiencing this? Not same on my N5.
Hopefully just not optimised. Could should be much more powerful on N9...

When u stream it to chromecast, does it change the display aspect ratio to fit the TV?
No, picture on TV is 4:3
Stuttering disappeared after reboot. Will test some more.

So there is letterboxing on the sides when in landscape? :s
Yes
Of course only when mirroring display, not from Netflix etc
Dam thats really unfortuante
Also have u tried using Slimport instead of Chromecast?
*edit*
If you go into an app does it still stay 4:3? I should be getting my N9 today and i didn't even consider this when screen mirroring
