I know that it couldn't 5 months ago,but I don't know if it works today...
And if the international version doesn't work on Tmobile 3g and 4g, how about the Tmobile version of Galaxy S2(T989)?

Unfortunately it still doesn't work now and for the unforeseeable future it wont ever work.
Luckily the tmobile sgs2 does work on tmobiles network.
nope i got mine in europe and the antenna hardware acquires different frequency than the one in the US. Just google search "T-mobile frequency"
I thought there was a version from asia that had a aws band. And are any of you using the europe one on T-Mobile? If so how are slow is 2g?

ok!I give up buying the international version since I live in The US......
So,how about ATT version(i777)?does it work on Tmobile 3g and 4g?
It's just because ATT version is cheaper, and so is Tmobile's plan.

Hey guys...Im doing a favor for a friend...he just got the I777 rooted ...but he wants to use it for Tmobile...what do i need to change for it to work with a custom rom...and then again can i port a rom from the tmobile S2 ...just modem?any input would be appreciated..
Edit:i have the E4GT on sprint...so i'm not really familiar with the gsm models...
While I should say use the search bar, all the information I've found is pretty outdated regarding this.
The simple answer is that you probably can't get it to work, at least not 3G/4G, if Edge is fine then you can unlock the phone with "Galaxy S Unlock" in the play store, just follow the directions listed, it's pretty simple.
The extended answer:
You might be able to depending on where you are. T-Mobile generally uses the 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz bands for 3G/4G, but the i777 doesn't use the 1700 MHz bands, instead it can use either 850, 1900, 2100 MHz bands for 3G/4G. However in preparation for LTE and just to increase bandwidth across 3G/4G they are starting to take some of their 1900 MHz spectrum from their edge networks and move it to 3G/4G/LTE. This has just started happening very recently and is currently in very few markets, however you may be in one of those, it is still expanding if you aren't but it may take a while. The only way you could know is if you took a T-Mobile sim card and put it in an unlocked i777 and if you get 3G/4G then you are good, otherwise you are stuck with Edge.

The S2 for ATT doesn't support 3g for T mobile and vice versa. There could be some weird instance as mentioned above where it could work but in most cases it won't.
Thank you very much for the update guys... I'll see what I can do...

Mostly true, T-Mobile's S2 should work with AT&T's network, you may have to flash a new radio but theoretically it should work.
You cannot port a T-Mobile ROM because T-Mobile does not have a similar gs2. The T-Mobile gs2 is the twin brother to the skyrocket

Sorry for the late response, I haven't been on here much lately.I live out in Little Elm, slightly past Frisco close to Lewisville Lake and 380/University. I am about to upgrade my phone again and give my wife the GS3. haven't decided between the GS4 and Note 2 yet.
I am in So.Cal and got 4G out of Edge half of the time from Tmobile ofcourse. The speed is around 7-10Mb/s or so
is there a rom ported from att to T-mobile

I bought an unlocked AT&T S2 i77 back in June and it runs well..
I'm getting text, but no data otherwise it seems. Nothing in web browser, etc. I see a 4G logo. My network info says:
Operator Name: T-Mobile
Mobile Network Type: UMTS
Service state: In service
Is it the mobile network type that is wrong? How do I change it?
EDIT: Seems like maybe I have to set the APN? Are these correct? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236735
Yes, when switching carriers you will need to manually add the APN if the SIM card didn't automatically do it for you.
I don't have T-Mobile, but that looks good to me.

He is likely in a T-Mobile refarmed area so 1900 MHz UMTS is available, while your area doesn't have this.
Go to http://airportal.de to get an (unofficial) view of where this is available.

The final answer is yes. The AT&T HTC One and the international/developer edition are exactly the same. Both support the frequencies used by T-Mobile. However, if you're not in a refarmed area listed here, then you won't be getting HSPA+. You'll get calls, text, MMS, but restricted to 2G as far as data goes until your towers are refarmed.
There are alot of threads on this topic in this forum as well as on the international/developer forums supporting this.
I had been getting speeds well over 20mbps on my Nexus 4... cracked the screen this weekend and connected an unlocked HTC One, from AT&T. I'm getting 5mbps now. I changed the settings as the OP did.
I am wondering if the speed reduction is due to the new phone, or because I recently switched from a "Unlimited" (with 5gigs of unlimited data) contract plan to a truly unlimited month-to-month "uncarrier" plan.
I made the change on Monday or so of last week, and within 24-48 hours was having poor/limited reception in my home and nearby, in my town, which I previously NEVER had issues in.
@OP- How did you go about getting yours unlocked? I'm trying to unlock mine to make it more valuable on craigslist and AT&T said that someone will get back to me by the 9th, which won't work for me.
I got a Verizon HTC one M7 unlocked phone. I inserted the Tmobile 4G card but I couldn't connect to 4G or even 3G data network. Can anyone please help me. I spend like 400 bucks for the phone and its useless if I dont get this.

From the HTC site: M7/Verizon: ... UMTS/HSPA 1900/2100MHz,GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz, LTE Band 13
So you need to check if TMOUS has 3G 1900 in your area. 4G is entirely out of the question.

I think 4G service on Verizon device even if you unlock them will not work on GSM sim card. Try hooking up your device on CDMA service and see what happen.
Did you change the apn setting?? And far as I know with Verizon they blocked most of the gsm signals so unless you flash a new modem no dice

It's not uncommon at all to make different variants of the same phone for different networks. If the phone doesn't have the bands then no amount of flashing other things is going to make a difference.

What are you asking? T-Mobile primary network is EDGE, then HSPA, then LTE. If you want to use only HSPA, you can go to settings>mobile networks>network mode. WCDMA only

Sorry, I'm coming from ATT where we had to do weird things to unlock HSPA. My issue is I'm on EDGE more than anything and things don't even load on EDGE. I remember being stuck on E sometimes on ATT, but unlocking HSPA fixed that.

There's no unlocking that Ive ever heard of. It sounds like you just get poor reception. Probably an area that doesn't get 4g or Lte. Check Tmobile coverage map.
Sent from my SM-G900T using xda app-developers app
Yeah, my guess is coverage too. Do go in and check that option that they listed above for your network type. In your situation I would try setting it to WCDMA Only - this will FORCE it to connect to 4G (HSPA+) and if you have no signal for 4g you will have 0 bars so it is a good test to see how that signal is in your area aside from the network map.
You will only be able to use T-Mobile HSPA+ if you are using a T-Mobile branded S5. The AT&T S5 does not support the 1700 AWS band from T-Mobile so you will not be able to get it and will only have access to 2G/3G/4G and LTE (no 4G+)

T-Mobile rural coverage is quite poor in most areas, however they've committed to modernizing their rural areas now that they've got the major centers but it might take a year or better to get it all done.
